Yeah I love The Whole Love. It was their last great album in my opinion. The title track is one of the bands best songs. The album reminds me of being 20 😭
Fan from the Uncle Tupelo days I think the whole love is one of their best. I listen to the whole love way more than ghost is born.
Hate Will Save the Dolphins
I f’ing love Sky Blue Sky. I know it’s not the accepted best album, but it’s the one I listen to most often. Nels intro to the Wilco community is so satisfying.
It was the first one I listened to upon release. And I love love loved it instantly. It’s the one that really elevated them in my mind. Then it was a few years later when AM really hit me out of no where, and that’s when I truly became a fan of all their work. But i don’t know if that ever happens without SBS.
I disapprove as well with the way they went about it. The article was lazy not to include Loose Fur and solo albums and other sides if it were to go that route...
It’s click bait. They do it to get engagement. It’s easier to get a lot of people talking and reading the article when they disagree than if they agree.
I clicked the link, saw SW was ranked last, closed window. It’s my favorite since Ghost and can’t understand why I’m so alone in this opinion. Was so stoked when they played Random Name Generator last weekend when I saw them.
>It’s my favorite since Ghost and can’t understand why I’m so alone in this opinion
It’s definitely my favorite since Ghost, and it’s not even close.
Pickled Ginger is very high on my list of Wilco songs, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone else say that. I dunno if everyone else is missing something, or if am. 🤷🏻♂️
SW is excellent. The whole love is excellent. Those two belong with the first 6 in the “killer wilco record” bucket
Also weird that this list includes down with wilco and other peripheral releases, but leaves off tweedy and loose fur
Thank you! I, too, thought I was alone until you posted this.
Of course it’s subjective and I don’t begrudge anyone their opinions. That said, to me Ghost was the end of a certain era, and Star Wars seems plucked from that era. I love many songs post-Ghost, but for me Star Wars is the album since Ghost that most coheres like the older ones did.
I’m so happy other people have their own experiences, and I love seeing younger people who love Wilco through a different lens. Within this fan context, I write to confirm that, for some of us, Star Wars belongs in the top-tier discussion.
Pretty close to mine with Ghost being top dawg and 2-5 constantly changing between those positions.
I will admit the Schmilco has really grown on me over the years.
And The Whole Love is there most underrated record.
Saw that too and nodded my head right away...A bunch on donkeys put that together... They have the nerve to add the Billy Bragg Vol 1 and II BUT leave out III? Loose Fur? Naw... no need, just Wilco based and not complete... WE ARE SPIN.(Venom voice)
My number 2: being there
Number 1: a ghost is born
A ghost is born is incredible in that it's Jeff on the guitar parts. And hummingbird is arguably the best song Jeff has ever written
1. Sky Blue Sky
2. A Ghost Is Born
3. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4. Being There
5. Cruel Country
6. Ode To Joy
7. Summerteeth
8. Cousin (rising up the charts)
9. The Whole Love
10. Star Wars
11. A.M.
12. Wilco (The Album)
13. Schmilco
I'm not adding the Billy Bragg or Minus 5 albums, because I prefer Loose Fur and Tweedy solo albums which do not appear on SPIN list.
Could rise one or two spots if I made this list another day, especially above Star Wars. And Passenger Side is in my top 20 songs! But as a Whole ( Get it.... Tweedy dad joke humour) Love is above it for title track, One Sunday Morning, Sunloathe, I might and Art of Almost...). But you made me play last half of A.M. as i type this, so there is that....
The correct answer is:
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Summerteeth
The Whole Love
Sky Blue Sky
Being There
A Ghost is Born
Wilco (the Album) - never understood the hate for this great record
Mermaid Avenue
AM
Star Wars
Schmilco
Cousin
Cruel Country
Ode to Joy
Mermaid Avenue V. II
But they're all great and in regular rotation for me.
A Ghost Is Born
Sky Blue Sky
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Summerteeth
Being There
Wilco The Album
The Whole Love
Cousin
Cruel Country
AM
Schmilco
Ode to Joy
Star Wars
Big disagree with a lot of these, but I do love SBS. It's just... not better than YHF, though. That's blasphemy. Also both cousin and ode should be higher. Whole love should be lower.
Today I learned that my love for Star Wars is not shared with many of y’all. Here’s my current list, though it changes often.
1. Being There
2. A Ghost is Born
3. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4. Summerteeth
5. Star Wars
6. Sky Blue Sky
7. The Whole Love
8. A.M.
9. Wilco (The Album)
10. Cruel Country
11. Schmilco
12. Ode to Joy
13. Cousin
The Whole Love above A Ghost is Born Aw HELL no
That’s certainly a choice
I love A Ghost, but I play Whole Love way more. I have to be in the mood for A Ghost where Whole Love just flows.
A Ghost is Born is number 1 for me.
Same, same
I actually agree with that 🫢
Yeah I love The Whole Love. It was their last great album in my opinion. The title track is one of the bands best songs. The album reminds me of being 20 😭

Mine too
It was the first one I listened to upon release. And I love love loved it instantly. It’s the one that really elevated them in my mind. Then it was a few years later when AM really hit me out of no where, and that’s when I truly became a fan of all their work. But i don’t know if that ever happens without SBS.
Right up there!
There’s no right way to rank Wilco’s albums. But there is a wrong way, and this is it.
I disapprove as well with the way they went about it. The article was lazy not to include Loose Fur and solo albums and other sides if it were to go that route...
Yeah but they accomplished their real mission of getting this particular pack of nerds all riled up
It’s click bait. They do it to get engagement. It’s easier to get a lot of people talking and reading the article when they disagree than if they agree.
This list is bonkers.
Ghost needs to be higher
Star Wars gang rise up!
I clicked the link, saw SW was ranked last, closed window. It’s my favorite since Ghost and can’t understand why I’m so alone in this opinion. Was so stoked when they played Random Name Generator last weekend when I saw them.

Loose Fur Born Again slots in the top 5 if this is the case. Love that album.
Including the Minus 5 was by far the weirdest part of this weird list

Was a fun surprise when it came out. Still better than some and certainly not last....
1. Ghost 2. YHF 3. ST 4. BT 5. TWL 6. AM 7. Schmilco 8. CC 9. SW 10. all the rest tied (BTW, I am not counting Mermaids, Loose Fur, solo, etc.)
This is the way.
Pretty close to mine with Ghost being top dawg and 2-5 constantly changing between those positions. I will admit the Schmilco has really grown on me over the years. And The Whole Love is there most underrated record.
Click the link, see Star Wars ranked last, close the tab.
I like the Minus 5 record as much as the next guy, but c'mon!
Haha, I just posted the same thing responding to another comment.
YHF Summerteeth Being There Mermaid Avenue A Ghost is Born/Sky Blue Sky All the rest of them
Cruel Country is a flipping masterpiece. Amazing
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Pretty awesome stuff on your page!
☺️
Wow what a bad list
Anybody lucky enough to hear the new EP yet??
My number 2: being there Number 1: a ghost is born A ghost is born is incredible in that it's Jeff on the guitar parts. And hummingbird is arguably the best song Jeff has ever written
Nope. Muzzle.
>Hummingbird is arguably the best song Jeff has ever written I’ll argue in favor of that.
“Passenger” lol
1. Sky Blue Sky 2. A Ghost Is Born 3. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 4. Being There 5. Cruel Country 6. Ode To Joy 7. Summerteeth 8. Cousin (rising up the charts) 9. The Whole Love 10. Star Wars 11. A.M. 12. Wilco (The Album) 13. Schmilco I'm not adding the Billy Bragg or Minus 5 albums, because I prefer Loose Fur and Tweedy solo albums which do not appear on SPIN list.
Have to put AM higher for Dash 7 and Too Far Apart, if nothing else, but a respectable list
But you made me play last half of A.M. as i type this, so there is that....
correct top three , order debatable.
Yeah... somedays Ghost some days SBS...and someday some morning sometime YHF
any list with Star Wars in last place is not at all legitimate.
This list seems purposefully and absurdly contrarian with its ranking.
I think this list is absolute garbage
1. Ghost 2. Ode to Joy 3. YHF 4. Sky 5. Schmilco 6. Whole Love 7. Star Wars Everything else tied
The correct answer is: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Summerteeth The Whole Love Sky Blue Sky Being There A Ghost is Born Wilco (the Album) - never understood the hate for this great record Mermaid Avenue AM Star Wars Schmilco Cousin Cruel Country Ode to Joy Mermaid Avenue V. II But they're all great and in regular rotation for me.
Wow, put being there on top and that’s basically my list.
Who knew Spin was still around?
Lol. Popped up on one of my feeds... probably because of all my Wilco love
A Ghost Is Born Sky Blue Sky Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Summerteeth Being There Wilco The Album The Whole Love Cousin Cruel Country AM Schmilco Ode to Joy Star Wars
No cruel country?
Thought I had it in there. Edited!
Well that’s just crap, in every way possible. The quarter in my pocket could do a better job.
I know. "Ghost at #7? WTF!" Stated every Wilco list ever...
Those are my top 4 favorite Wilco albums, but not in that order. There were a lot of other choices I strongly disagreed with
The Whole Love at 4 is a ‘my parents let me eat lead paint’ take
Nope
I disagree with the whole thing
Big disagree with a lot of these, but I do love SBS. It's just... not better than YHF, though. That's blasphemy. Also both cousin and ode should be higher. Whole love should be lower.
Summerteeth at FIVE?! lol wut
Star Wars and Cousin are both Top Ten. Schmilko, Cruel Country and Ode to Joy are sub-standard.
I refuse to believe that list is genuine. It HAS to be ragebait.
Today I learned that my love for Star Wars is not shared with many of y’all. Here’s my current list, though it changes often. 1. Being There 2. A Ghost is Born 3. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 4. Summerteeth 5. Star Wars 6. Sky Blue Sky 7. The Whole Love 8. A.M. 9. Wilco (The Album) 10. Cruel Country 11. Schmilco 12. Ode to Joy 13. Cousin
Yeah this list really misses the mark….
A.M. is too low in my opinion 😔
Wow, Spin is still around?
Some cliches are just true, like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot being Wilcos best record
Other than AM I don’t have a lot of disagreement here, the last decent album they put out was the Whole Love.
