First thing you need to know... Jordin Canada just moved to Atlanta from LA. She joins Naz Hillmon there. Those 2 spent the offseason playing for the Melbourne Boomers. So those two plus Borlase and Puoch all played WNBL last season. Weird to think I was sitting in a stadium in Dandenong on a a Wednesday night a week ago watching Puoch play for the Rangers!!

Right? We were at most of the Lightning home games this year and got to see Izzy a lot

Responsible-List-849

What a gun...we were at all the Boomers home games (plus a bunch of other random ones) and she was a star on and off the court. Home she gets a proper chance at it.

I'm not sure how old you are/your interest in netball, but Izzy's mum was a fan favourite in my house growing up. She was my mum's favourite netballer of all time and we would go when I was a kid to watch her play. It's absolutely wild that now her daughter has been drafted to the W! The sporting genetics in that family are strong.

The Dream are a fun and up-and-coming team, with a talented young core, so they’re a great choice to root for! They should be at least decent this season though not really championship contenders.

MiserableSoft2344

The Dream welcome you. Our team has several players with experience in the NBL and are really looking to take a big step forward this season. You’re not gonna want to miss out!

As an Atlanta local, welcome to the Atlanta Dream community! The Atlanta Dream traded away their 2025 1st round pick as part of a swap with the Dallas Wings to add all-star Alisha Gray (recent Athletes Unlimited champion). As a result, the three 2024 international draftees may be viewed as prospects for the future to add to the team next year when Atlanta won't have a 1st round pick. Some reports have stated that they will all play overseas this year and not play in the WNBA in 2024. I hope you still follow along this season, though! In response to your questions: -Atlanta made the playoffs for the first time since 2018 as a 5-seed before getting swept in two games by Dallas. They are projected to be a playoff contender this year, although probably not a top-four seed. -In terms of an NBA comp, I'd unfortunately not have to look far to find one: I think there are some similarities between the Atlanta Dream and the Atlanta Hawks. Some underrated star power for both (Rhyne Howard and Trae Young), some controversial management in the past (Kelly Loeffler and Danny Ferry), no championships in our history (three finals losses for the Dream with no finals appearances for the Atlanta Hawks), and a commitment to avoid tanking that often results in middle-first round draft picks and low-seeded playoff teams. If you have specific questions, feel free to reply or reach out! There is an r/AtlantaDream that we're hoping will be more active this season.

Their coach is outstanding. Played in the W for years, won a ring in Seattle. Super high basketball IQ and trained under, among others, Bill Laimbeer, who's a fan of hers. She should've won coach of the Year but it went to Hammond instead; Wright did way more with way less
