Literally looks like a "design concept" given to a graphic designer to work with. The angles are just all wrong. The Nike design is still ass, but this is... woof.
May be in the minority here but I don’t feel the 1 is the pertinent part of what the logo should be emphasizing. Her name is A’ja, she wears 22. Why the hell would the number 1 be a focus here? Only way that makes sense is if each shoe brings a new logo and Idt that’s what Nike is going for here.

I understand the part about the shoes. My point is, this is her official logo, not necessarily just a logo for the shoes themselves. So again, unless they’re changing the logo every time a new shoe drops why would the 1 be a focus anyway? Not saying the concept above is the 1, just saying it certainly makes more sense design wise to make the A more of a focus in the logo.
After a little research, as near as I can tell LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Sabrina Ionescu all have their own logos for their shoes, and it's on every different shoe they design.

It's a great logo in that it's both complex in that it has a star, A, and the 1 but also simple in it's presentation. The biggest problem was that it didn't look great on the shirt pic, but it looked great as a necklace and that sizing is closer to what it will look like on shoes so i think they did a good job with it.
I had to look up the pg, kyrie, and giannis logos cause i couldn't remember them, but outside of lebron's i think aja's is as good or better than a lot of the recent nike player logos out there.
When it comes to logo design, being too literal doesn't always work, this is a good example.
Over accentuating the up stroke to resemble an A more has made it look worse. Same with making the star burst sharp, the reason the points on the star in the official logo are rounded is to soften it visually and not be as aggressive looking and also creates more balance.
I like the "what I made" version better. Nike's design looks like a cartoon slug.

This new design…..looks like like poorly made garbage 😂 the Nike design is way better. Once I saw the A and the various designs that led to this it all made sense and now I can’t unsee A and actually like it.
