If you keep ipe oiled and out of the sun it will stay like that. These look like maybe they're out of direct sunlight but also it seems very unlikely someone is oiling the sides of a trashcan... mysterious
that's what i'm saying! they've remained this warm brown tone and they stay out in the sun for as long as i can remember, and i highly doubt someone is coming around to oil them.
That is so whacky. I am guessing it's got to be favorable climate conditions? Like not too much direct sun, certain temps and humidity. Is this in some ideal climate like in central California? I have some ipe in my shop that's a few years old and still looks fresh. Gets cold, gets hot, but stays in shade. My sawmill guy started me calling it anything like that "junglewood" – it is a mystery
