Radial arm saws don’t bring that much money at all and you can find them for free look on the internet and better brands That drill press is worth $25-$50 if it runs and doesn’t have runout. The old clamps are worth more

jds182_gp

I think my dad had the same or similar craftsman. They paid him to ship the motor back in a recall. [Link](https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2001/CPSC-Emerson-Tool-Co-Announce-Recall-of-Craftsman-Radial-Arm-Saws-Sold-by-Sears-Roebuck-and-Co)

Ocksu2

All of our dads had that craftsman Radial Arm Saw. Every single one.

Jeff_72

Yep I sent back my father’s saw that I had said for over a decade that I would use. I got a check for $100… bought some beer.

RGeronimoH

I wonder if that is still valid? There are a ton listed near me for next to nothing - PROFIT!

JPKaliMt

I did it in HS but that was 8 years ago, and that was already 2 or 3 decades after, so who knows lol Edit: Grammer

ArcanaZeyhers

Please don’t. Radial arm saws are dope.

StructuralSense

Are they still doing this? Do you need a receipt? I inherited my dad’s that doesn’t seem to work anymore anyway.

trustme_imadoct0r

Last I heard they were only paying $50 per carriage for the recall.

StructuralSense

Just went to website, $50 is correct. And it looks like you just need to send them a picture of model/serial and the cord cut flush in two locations. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2001/CPSC-Emerson-Tool-Co-Announce-Recall-of-Craftsman-Radial-Arm-Saws-Sold-by-Sears-Roebuck-and-Co

taco_king415

Yea, radial saws are about worthless as they're not a useful tool for the space taken.  You can also get a brand new drill press just like that for about the same price at HF.

flying_carabao

Radial arm saws are great. It's a large enough surface for me to dump crap on🤣

Hairy_Ad4969

Norm Abrams would like to have a word

octopornopus

Look out OP! The first rule of fighting Norm Abrams is to wear these... safety glasses....

Hairy_Ad4969

Yes. That is true. But the radial arm saw though, he does things with his that I couldn’t do with my compound mitre saw. Table saw, yes, but he has one of those too.

Nobody6269

I thought the first rule was to never fight Mr. Abrams. They named a tank after the man 🤣

Hairy_Ad4969

https://preview.redd.it/ji8f6bj7915d1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ac909aa6cfdfda1cf1f434e5346a821d4c4f29d Not an Abrams, but here’s a photo of a Sherman tank I took near Utah beach two weeks ago. She’s got holes pierced straight through on both sides. It’s June 6th. I’m humbled and grateful for the sacrifices those guys made.

FkLeddit1234

Tell me you don't cut many dados without telling me you don't cut many dados.

Witty_Turnover_5585

I was looking for this. These are awesome for dados

timtucker_com

Not sure why they're so loved for dados - router seems to work just fine with a lot less risk of tearing off an arm.

tell_her_a_story

Personally, I find it easier to align than a router, it'll cut more in a single pass than most routers, and repeatability is higher than a router.

Jenos00

Agreed, I gave mine away free(a couple years after I got it free). My sliding miter is better and takes less space. Was pretty much that exact model.

CAM6913

I still have one I don’t remember the brand but it’s cast iron built like a tank still works but as you said my sliding compound miter saw works better. But it’s makes a great dust magnet and people asking “what’s that” it has a 14” blade and just looks mean

t4thfavor

I have the one that sort of doubles as a more dangerous compound table saw, I hate it with a passion not often seen.

KahlanRahl

Yeah, I can go down to the Habitat ReStore tomorrow and buy at least a dozen for $50/each. And no one ever does because the same ones have been there for years. OP, if you really want a radial arm saw, go here and look up your closest store. I’ll bet they have a few for $50 or less: https://www.habitat.org/restores

markusbrainus

I see radial arm saws frequently posted free or cheap $50 on online classified.

CompetitiveCut1457

I own an estate liquidation company. I regularly put 50-75 on that exact radial arm saw, and 50 on the press.

Olfa_2024

My wife's family and then my wife and I did Estate Sales for nearly 30 years from start to end. That's exactly how I would have priced them and would have sent the Radial Arm saw with the people who did the end of sale buy outs from us. Craftsman Radial Arm saws are difficult to get rid of. Some of the other brands like the old DeWalt ones can bring a bit more money.

CompetitiveCut1457

I would say that we probably sell 70% of them. We do a progressive discount though, so it's like 10$ the last day of the sale.

Olfa_2024

We did the same 50% on day two and if we did a 3 day 70% and better on the 3rd day.

BongSwank

I paid 50 for radial arm saw in much better condition. They are obsolete and dangerous and this one looks pretty worn. That drill press looks overpriced too. Maybe someone is just trying to get what they can buy dont know prices? 350 will get you a decent used woodworking machine like a small thickness planer or half decent mitre saw, even a contractors table saw (used). these pale in comparison imo Edit: 2nd look the drill press looks ok, craftsmanship is decent brand too. I might part with 100 for it, but I'm giving prices and thinking in CAD as well.

Olfa_2024

I have that same Craftsman in my shop. I think I turn it on once a year. It's not bad but I just don't ever really have a need to use a drill press.

Mitheral

That radial arm is essentially worthless. You can get DeWalts with better arms and more support from the community for less than $100 all day long most places.  https://forums.delphiforums.com/woodbutcher And because you can properly tune them they are safer. If there is minimal run out on the drill press ~$100 is an ok price.

Nightstands

What’s ’run-out’?

FeliusSeptimus

A shaft that rotates in a cylindrical bore (bearing, bushing, etc.) needs some clearance between the shaft and the bore to allow movement. Runout is a measurement of the how far the rotation axis of the shaft can shift. As the bore and shaft wear the clearance increases, increasing runout. Drill presses don't normally need to have very low runout because the location of the hole mostly isn't determined by the press (that's what center punches, center drills, pilot holes, and good quality drill bits are for), but excessive runout can cause oversized holes, burning, poor surface finish, and damage drill bits.

Nightstands

Thank you!

erikleorgav2

$350 can get you a sliding power miter that is better than the radial arm saw. (Probably closer to $450.) Drill press is overpriced. Radial arms were a great tool, in their day. Yet, dangerous to people who didn't learn the right way of using them. They don't have the functionality they once did with the evolution of tools.

mrtramplefoot

You can get the Ridgid 10” gliding miter saw for $219 right now https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-10-in-Dual-Bevel-Sliding-Miter-Saw-R4241/315635520

bassboat1

Not going to get 18" crosscut with a SCMS, or the ability to cut dados.

SaSSafraS1232

My miter saw has a depth stop to cut dadoes. No idea why I’d ever use it, but you definitely can do it

bassboat1

Gonna chuck a stack dado blade on that slider? Every now and then, you need a groove - how you get it is your own business. The only reason my radial arm saw isn't a boat anchor... is for dadoing shelf units (not easy to crosscut shelf slots in a 10"X96" piece of 3/4" hardwood plywood with a cabinet saw that doesn't have a sliding table).

timtucker_com

Why not just use a router?

VanTil

That's what a table saw is for.

Olfa_2024

They were only really useful for trenching cuts but now I just use a router with a track to do the same thing that takes up much less space when not in use.

Sluisifer

You can easily find a RAS better than that for under $100. They're dreaming and can't be reasoned with. Don't bother. Leave them your number and say you'll take it for $50 when they're ready to take it to the dump.

ultramilkplus

A good rule of thumb for radial arm saws: Only buy VERY old Dewalt or Rockwell and even then, don't pay much if anything for a 10" saw. The 220v 12" and bigger ones go for real money, nothing comes close to a monster radial arm saw in a production shop (in my opinion obviously), but the consumer grade ones (even the Dewalt/Delta ones) are kind of sketchy. I have a 10" Rockwell/Delta and I love it. It was $80.

Nottighttillitbreaks

I have a Dewalt 10", everything on it is cast metal. It's older than and will probably still outlive me. Great tool for my shop. They are only as dangerous as any other woodworking tool being used by untrained hands. I'm far more scared of my table saw than I am my RAS.

Kudzupatch

A light in sea or darkeness!! Well said.

ntyperteasy

I’ll second all this. I recently bought a 1960 DeWalt all metal 10” radial arm saw in excellent condition for $95. Not much market for them anymore. If you understand them, they can be very useful. They are much safer if you switch to negative rake blades and dados to reduce that unpleasant habit of shooting the killing machine right at you 😵.

ultramilkplus

The negative rake blade (at least from CMT) leaves a laser cut finish too. The not dismembering you is just a bonus.

ntyperteasy

Agree. I was very happy to find an all negative rake dado set (blades and chippers) from Diablo now and in stock locally. They don’t advertise the negative rack feature, but I bought it as soon as I could actually look at it.

JustAnotherINFTP

which model do you have?

ultramilkplus

33-285

JustAnotherINFTP

I have a 33-267, would you happen to know the part number/name of the plastic piece on the saw axle that the blade stop presses against? Mine is a little bit loose and sometiems spins independently of the axle so it seems my blade stop doesnt work as well as it could.

Forged_Trunnion

I had a Dewalt 8" that I painted, greased up and cleaned etc and sold for $100. I also have a Dewalt 10" that I bought for $20 and a Delta 12" turret style 220v that I got for $200. The dela is a 90s model and definitely in the best shape, I just still have to run a 220 in order to use it.. On the to do list. Once that's up and running I'm planning on letting go of the other Dewalt.

sj79

That craftsman RAS is worth $0 to me. I would consider one of the original fully cast-iron DeWalt models, but even for those I wouldn't pay more than $100.

UlrichSD

That saw, you'd have to pay me $50 for the effort I'd scraping it.  It might even be covered by a recall that they send you a check if you destroy it (need specific pics and to do a specific procedure to destroy) A good RAS has some value but that saw is not one.  He wants the price it was sold new practically.   The drill press is nothing special, 50 if it runs but it is not a great value.   id probably just ignore this sale they are delusional on price.

mdmaxOG

there's a reason radial arm saws aren't around anymore... the internal glides are plastic and wear out and break/get brittle over time. that saw is cooked. Drill press might be worth $40

ultramilkplus

I sold that exact model of drill press for $25 and it took a week.

neverinamillionyr

I have that drill press. It’s not terribly useful. The table is held in place by friction and the drilling depth is way shorter than you’d expect. It’s for light duty work only.

Auro_NG

Radial arm saws are still in and used in every cabinet shop I've worked or have been in.

torknorggren

They're super useful if you have the space. But that's not going to apply to most hobby woodworkers.

jhox08

Exactly, they’re fantastic as a cross-cut only station but their footprint is not worth it unless you’re trying to fill space in your shop by making very specific stations

stevegannonhandmade

You can have the one in my basement for free. Works great... I just don't do anything with wood anymore. I live outside Philly...

Scare_Norm

What this free radial arm saw you have? I'm in Cherry Hill.

stevegannonhandmade

I'll get you a picture in the next couple of hours. I'm in 19027... Feel free to remind me if you don't hear back from me by evening; it will just mean I forgot

mariscc

No offense but if you think that is a good price for a radial arm saw, then you probably shouldn't be getting one. Be careful when you use it.

Falcon3492

I've had a radial arm saw for a long time(bought it when I was in 9th grade) and have used the snot out of it. However, they are no longer desirable today and bring basically nothing on the resale market. For that saw in the condition it's in I wouldn't give more than $25 for it. It definitely needs a new table and a new guard with a lower blade guard. If you end up buying it repost that you bought it and I will tell you the other part of the story.

Topcatdallas

I totally agree! Money would probably be better spent on a mitre saw

Falcon3492

As long as it is a slide compound saw.

Piss-Off-Fool

In my area, radial arm saws are sold for $50 or less. I sold the same drill press last year. It was in much better shape and I got $50 for it and I felt like I was overpaid.

y2knole

leave that radial arm saw where it sits. the drill press is worth $50 if you wanna be generous. but honestly way less.

veronus57

I bought this same saw in \~2017 for $25. Honestly considering getting rid of it because I can't find a place in my garage that I can put it that it won't be in the way. $225, I would say, is way too much unless you've got a dedicated building for woodworking (not the best fit for a 2-car garage). Even $150 seems a bit pricey since you'll still have to mount it somewhere and put the time and money into building a fence for it.

MoSChuin

If you're in the upper Midwest, I'll give you a Craftsman radial arm saw, for free. It's in better condition than the one pictured, so while it's too nice to throw away, it's not good enough to bring in anything. I thought I could do tenons with it, I was wrong. If they're going no lower than 225, all I've got to say is that crack don't smoke itself. The benchtop drill press is similar to the one I got brand new at Harbor Freight for $99, plus tax. I had a specific task in mind for it, and it worked out great for that jigged up single task. That was 4 years ago, and while the specs changed so much I can't use that anymore, it's still a better and more reliable tool than that old Craftsman. I research the tools I'm looking for, to the point I can pretty accurately guess what the prices will be on Facebook Marketplace. That way, I know when a good deal is to be found, and can act on it without hesitation or question marks. In the last auction I participated in, I ran forward on a Northtech NT-152b single end tenoner, and tossed a bid of 500 on it, just to see what would happen. I ended up winning it, and was thrilled, because it was an $18,000 tool brand new. But I was only able to get there by doing tons of research, learning about equipment, and seeing a good buy when it presented itself. Do research, learn about these things. I did, and can now move forward or away, with confidence.

TomcastHD

I see radial arm saws get no bids at auctions frequently. I don't think I'd ever actually pay for one.

MajorTangelo7704

I see those old craftsmen radial arm saws in near perfect condition for 75-100 all the time.

mashed50

My Craftsman radial arm saw was recalled as a safety issue. Considering how many times that thing kicked back at me, I think they're all a hazard. Get a nice table saw instead. (And before you say I don't know how to use it correctly, I do. Just hoping to save someone's fingers)

SnowblindAlbino

I saw the exact same Craftsman RAS at a Habitat Restore last weekend for $70. It was cleaner. Nobody was rushing to buy it either....even that price was high.

brandon6285

0$ for the radial arm saw, and 30$ for the drill press.

woodland_dweller

These people are hitting the crack pipe pretty hard. Before you even think about that drill press, pop the cover off the top and look at the belts. Some from that era have a 1/8" wide belt which won't transmit enough torque to keep it from stalling at the first sign of work. I'm not really a fan of RA saws. But CMan of that era just isn't good, even if you like that kind of saw. Go at the end of the day with $20 in your wallet. Nobody's buying the RA at that price. The drill pres is comically overpriced. I paid $350 at Home Depot for a DeWalt DWS779. There's no way an 80's CMan RA saw cuts as well (accurate & square) as a quality miter saw.

SlowlyTowardsTheCake

I have the exact same units. Both purchased in absolutely like new condition from the original owner who took great care of them. I paid $75 total for both…

drunkenitninja

Too much for both. If you already had those units, they'd be for parts only. Of course, if you're interested in cleaning them up, and trying to get them back to working order, then set a price and stay firm on it. If they won't budge, then don't buy it. I've noticed this a lot over the last few years. People seem to want "like new" prices for items that are used and some that are in fairly poor condition, or they believe it to be "vintage".

UlrichSD

yeah, around me I've seen lots of stuff in this kind of condition MORE than the same brand new, people get it because obviously you save money getting used.....

stupidape47

Give him your number and walk out the door. Radial arm saws don't really go for much. He will probably call you back tomorrow. Most people won't need them or use them unless they do complex joinery, which they are awesome for.

jamespberz

Have that same drill press and it’s very solid. No frills, just very solid, heavy, durable. Good luck Edit: Also cleans up easily… mine was a lot worse than that (rust) and took very little time to clean and put a shine on

wilmayo

I don't agree that they are obsolete or dangerous (more so than any other shop tool), but you can commonly get them for $100 or less. If you are really looking for a RAS and willing to pay more for one, shop around for one of the old Delta "turret" style similar to this: [https://www.lumberjocks.com/threads/classic-delta-radial-arm-saw.117706/](https://www.lumberjocks.com/threads/classic-delta-radial-arm-saw.117706/)

emelem66

They are obsolete and dangerous. That's been a given for years. Doesn't mean you can't use one though.

trvst_issves

If you see a Craftsman RAS for $300… don’t bother trying to find deals from them.

Absolut_Iceland

Way overpriced, especially the RAS. $50 would be generous, much less $150. Some people seem to be stuck on the idea that these things are worth way more than they actually are. Not even worth trying to haggle, IMO. You could probably find that same era of Craftsman drill press for half the price on FB Marketplace or Craigslist.

Lapdog76

Check the saw arm and make sure it’s not wobbly. If it’s not tight you can’t get a good cut on the saw.

gmletzkojr

Sometimes, that wobble is caused by poorly adjusted bearings, which can be fixed. If not, there may be something more serious wrong with the saw.

nchi-san

Hell no.

Olfa_2024

Maybe $50 each.

hmiser

$300 for the Radial Arm Remover, he knows what he has folks.

Digital_Human82

Maybe he wants to keep it?

Healthiemoney

Radial arm saws are always $50.

Normativity

There’s honestly no point in even negotiating with someone that lists an old rusty radial arm saw for $300. Just move along and feel bad for whoever ends up buying from them.

ZenBacle

You should probably take operating costs into account... What's the going rate for re-attaching fingers these days?

AnxietyIsHott

They're usually pretty cheap, but some of them cost an arm and a leg...

SaSSafraS1232

That guy is crazy. You can buy a perfectly fine (and much safer) sliding miter saw brand new for $300.

Chris_Christ

Radial arm saw = free Small drill press maybe $50.

notananthem

I would pay negative ten dollars for that

ProfessionalEven296

I would not take a radial arm saw even for free.

ICantSpellGirafe

I bought that exact same style drill press for $50 last year and I think it was a fair price. Couldn’t imagine buying it for +$100

gbrown106

Free

StrawberrySea6085

judging from the sticker prices, the tool likely has much more functional value to the owner than the tool is actually worth. I would personally pass on everything there, since I wouldn't be close to any of those prices, at least for the large machinery.

Present-Ambition6309

I wouldn’t give more than $30.00 for that saw. After closer inspection of course. $300.00? Pass.

BonsaiBeliever

I can’t speak for other brands, but this Craftman RAS is worth zero. It is almost impossible to set up for truly accurate cuts, and it won’t hold settings once you do. Maybe OK for cutting 2x4 on a job site, but nothing more.

strikingremembrance

imo that RAS for $300 is a scam. The drill press for $125 is probably fine, but if it was me, I'd probably just buy something new and cheap for near the same price.

CephusLion404

Radial arm saws aren't worth much. They aren't really made anymore and for good reason. Some people swear by them but I never saw the point. I loaned mine to my uncle probably 30 years ago and it's still sitting in his garage. That's all vastly overpriced for what it is.

Far-Potential3634

There was a recall on those radial arm saws. For awhile they would mail you a new guard and table, then they'd give you $100 for returning the motor, then $50. I'm not aware what the current status of the recall is but it was because the guard was found to be inadequate. They can be useful but I wouldn't pay $150 for that model.

Pie_Rat_Chris

Everyone pointed out the prices are ridiculous already so I'll add that radial arm is trash regardless of price. They're a safety hazard, have had recalls going back the entire 50 years that line was produced, pop up everywhere because you can barely give them away. They shouldn't even exist anymore since the big recall in the 90s was here is a check if you destroy it. Radial arms can be sketchy when they're proper. That one is not proper.

Mpjdog491

I paid 125.00 for the same one last year.

altma001

150 for both, give them your number and have them call you at the end of the sale

YouEnvironmental2079

I have a RAS sitting in my garage Unsellable

No_Albatross1975

Hahahahahahahaha $300 for a radial arm saw!?!? That’s a good joke. In all honesty there is a recall on them lookup the model and the recall. Emerson will pay $100 for the motor. It’s by far your best bet.

KappuccinoBoi

I have that exact drill press and have had it for about 3 years now. My father got it about 10 yeats ago at a garage sale for like $30. It works okay. Definitely not worth that price.

schmidit

I had to give that exact saw away for free on the curb after no one would buy it for any money. Slowly decreased the price for two months and no one wanted it.

82ndAbnVet

My my my, this brings back memories. I cut an awful lot of wood with my father‘s craftsman radial arm saw. What year model is this? looks like the 80s or so

woodtowork

The radial arm saw was recalled by Craftsman, and the owners were paid to decommission them because they didn't have a blade guard on them.

Redbeard_Greenthumb

Estate sales are overpriced bro

Naive-Information539

Can get that for 125$ all day long on FB. Marketplace or lower

OldERnurse1964

Don’t buy the electric death saw.

ThinkItThrough48

$25

phsntdawg70

They should pay you to haul the radial arm saw away. Maybe they will give you the drill press as a trade for hauling away the saw.

virtual_human

I have that same RAS with new table and safety kit that I'll give you for free if you live in central Ohio.

crankbot2000

They should pay you to get rid of that radial arm saw.

briowatercooler

$300 for that RAS is a joooooke

burnerforjokes

I have a newer (meaning it's 25 years old) version of that drill press that my mother gave me. It works fine, but I'd rather pay more for one with a greater throat distance.

Electrical_Party3993

I have on and love it!

Myklindle

I got that same radial arm saw for free. Lots of hate from the net on them. It does take up a ton of space, I use it for every thing. Just gotta make sure it doesn’t kill you

thelittlestnumnah

I gave one away for free and I felt like I should have paid the guy who took it.

fantumn

I have that exact same model of RAS in my basement. It's not worth $30, let alone 300. The drill press is very similar to an old one I've got, too. I'm gonna go check my basement to make sure this guy didn't steal my tools. I would offer them $80 for both tools as long as you can test them and they both run well, if they counter with 100 and you're desperate? ...maybe. But for 425 you could get newer and safer versions of both of those tools, the only function you wouldn't get is the rip function on the RAS.

RedWoodworking16

On marketplace I’ve found WAY nicer ones for less.

ReturnOfSeq

I got that exact RAS for $65 about 2 years ago

tlivingd

Paid 25 bucks then followed the old recall to get 75 bucks. Not sure if they recall is still going on

Eyiolf_the_Foul

Lol. Pipe dream.

dml997

That is ancient low quality stuff. $150 is more than it is worth.

galaxyapp

I "sold" a craftsman way nicer than that. I say "sold" because I started at $50 on marketplace. It didn't disappear till I listed it for free

Negative_Recipe1807

I took a radial arm saw just like that one to the dump because couldn't find anyone that wanted it for free. I kept the stand tho.

flying_carabao

I pad 50 for my RAS and a drill press of the same size. Most I'd be ok with is probably 75

Novel_Alfalfa_9013

I wouldn't pay more than fifty unless that RAS comes with an array of jigs & blades, bunches of molding cutter knives and a few heads. Also needs to track nicely with no slop.

Konbattou-Onbattou

The only thing worth money on that saw is the motor and that’s hardly worth the blood and sweat to get it out

hotplasmatits

There's a website where you can upload a picture of the radial arm saws serial number and a picture of the snipped off power cord, and they'll send you $50

i_cum_sprinkles

I have one you can take for free if you carry it out of my basement.

Mantree91

I literally had to leave mine on the curb for 5 days with a free post on market place.

a22e

I bought that exact same radial arm saw with a cabinet from my local High School for $75.00 in 2001. Sold it in '15 for $100.00. I would say that is too much. The drill press is more interesting in my opinion.

ecirnj

Waaaaay less than asking. At $225 I’d let them keep them

HeadFund

Lots of people disparaging the radial arm saw but I don't see anyone mentioning that model has actually been recalled. You can collect $50 just for submitting proof that it's been destroyed lol. rasrecall.com You could try telling them there are liability issues with selling recalled tools and offer to take it for free.. I still wouldn't tho.

ramsdl52

Check out dusty lumber co YouTube channel. He uses a radial arm saw to make all kinds of joinery. I'd negotiate down on that price but I'd buy the RAS

qtownbullitt

I agree, $25-$50 all it's worth. Also, they had a recall on these a few years back you might want to check that too. I think they paid you for it and included a box with shipping costs covered.

nineballman

I have that exact RAS. I bout it last year for $60 if memory serves. $300 is way too high

Roll-Roll-Roll

I bought that exact saw from a garage sale for $100 a few years ago. Came with 10 blades. It's up to you. I wouldn't be $225 though.

gertgertgertgertgert

Lol those are worth more as scrap. They're shitty old tools.

splashy_splashy

no

Zazzenfuk

Go back on the last day of the sale within the last hour. Estate companies need to move inventory and will discount stuff a ton. I've picked up tools like that marked high and paid 1/10tn the price

ithinkformyself76

-200 dollars - I would not take one if it was offered., and one has been offered, and I passed.

toolsandprinting

They're going to need to pay someone to take that RAS away unless there happens to be a very specific type of person looking.

grey487

That was really close to the new price back in 84.

Hey_Allen

I gave my Craftsman RAS away when I moved, and was given it a few years prior...

Master_Ocelot8801

I see these on CL for free at least once a week

CooterTStinkjaw

Not worth the trouble. Spend that money on a miter saw.

[deleted]

Hard pass on the drill press. You can buy one new for that price

wolf_of_wall_mart

Drill press is fine if it runs Don’t bother with the radial arm saw man..

fangelo2

These Craftsman radial arm saws are part of a recall that been going on for years. Several years ago I was going to sell one for $50 when someone told me I could get $100 by turning it in for the recall, winch is what I did. I think they only give you $50 now, but all you have to do is send in a photo of the cord cut off

t4thfavor

I have a more modern (like this one, but with lasers and stuff) version of that compound radial arm saw, and I have tried to give it away (stand and all) on several occasions, and I've been told no all of those occasions.

Trading_View_Loss

300 for a radial arm hahahahahaha Scary fucking finger choppers aren't worth 10.

GinjabreadNinjaman

Lol. If you're anywhere near NE Florida I have a Rockwell I'll sell for $50

Downtown-Fix6177

lol 300 bucks for a radial arm - they’re insane.

pagarr70

My brother bought that same saw used twenty years ago for two hundred and it looked in the same shape. He still uses it to this day. Gets a lot of use by him. He makes all kinds of cabinet and whatnot. He loves it, in fact he won’t let anybody else touch it, says it’s too dangerous. He cleaned it up and it looks almost new

Witty_Turnover_5585

You can find that same saw on FB marketplace for $50-$100. $150 is crazy. $225 is absolutely insanity

SteveSch

Please don't pay $150 for that saw. There are much better ones for that money. I bought an old 12" Delta for $75. The one where the arm rotates in the center. Cut great. I got rid of it for lack of space. If you get a radial arm saw, be extra careful. They bite hard. Here's a couple of videos you may find interesting. https://youtu.be/HiGH0Qsu3ak https://youtu.be/CV4uXtxnOdg

also_your_mom

The bench top drill press: $20 if it works and doesn't wobble. Tops. The Radial Saw: I've heard too many horror stories about them to even think about taking one for free.

[deleted]

that machine is fairly obsolete!

JPKaliMt

Fun fact, I got one for free years ago in HS. Googling led me to find a recall website that was not only still valid, but still had an active phone number or email. They sent me a prepaid box, I boxed just the radial saw head, and then they cut me a check for $100. Scrapped the rest for like $20 or $30 bucks at the scrap yard. That’s what I think of them anyways lol

saketaco

I have that exact RAS. Mine's like new, inherited from an uncle. I never use it and wish I could unload it.

True-Explorer89

50$ max. You could find one in better shape for not much more

billdogg7246

A gave my RAS away for free to get it out of my basement. New, the drill press is about $100. Like that, maybe $25?

spamjam09

I sold the exact drill press for $100 last year before a move and didn’t think I’d get that much.

brents347

I just so.d a craftsman radial arm saw just like this, in great condition with lots of extras for $50 and was happy to get it.

Hawkeyes_dirtytrick

No lmao

NEPTUNETHR33

Have the same one. Here in Texas they are $150 new. And believe me I still find new ones. I would not pay more than $75-100. It's also slightly hard to find the right bushings for these motors, expect the motor to be weak given its look/weathering, and if it stops working completely you need to buy a $5 transformer on eBay. I would wait for the next one. They are very useful and versatile saws. They do require a special blade and initial (table) calibration.

Fart-monster44

Everyone needs a widow maker in the shop

PossumPhat

$50 and upgrade your insurance! More people hurt by this saw than you can shake a stick at.

Heart-Of-Oak-Wood

Pass on all of those at those prices.

bhamrick388

I have the exact same model in a much cleaner state, with the upgraded anti kick back jammy. That I got for free. People absolutely give these away, or at a very low price at minimum. Guarantee nobody will buy it. Show back up on the last day and offer him $25. As for the drill press, I see more rust than what it's worth. Can get a new one for that prices.

sholtermon

Radial arm is $50 at most. It’s old, and historically inaccurate. Save your money and get a sliding miter saw

Aggressive_Log_194

Too much in my opinion.

Zfusco

25$? Neither are worthy anything really. Radial armsaws sell near me for <50$, and they're generally larger more heavy duty than that.

kioma47

I found one of these same saws on the side of the road with a "FREE" sign on it. I threw it into the back of my SUV and took it home. I put $40 worth of parts into it thinking I would sell it and... turns out you can hardly give them away. I wound up selling my chop saw and keeping the radial arm for my shop.

TMQMO

Around me, there's always at least one radial arm saw on Marketplace for under $75. Usually, more than one. My neighbor has had one (that he doesn't want or need) sitting next to his driveway for a month.

Thin_Interaction310

Thanks for this. I just sent the info in on mine.

KathiSterisi

$50 max on drill press. It’s Chinese and you can get a brand new Chinese drill press on Amazon for $120. RAS is a specialty tool (for lack of better word). Dangerous for novice and fairly well obviated for routine purposes by sliding compound miter saws…which can be had grand new for <$300.00 Someone is ‘fishing’ with that pricing and not really looking to sell.

upshot

I’m not sure that I understand all the hate for the radial arm saw. I’ve used that exact model in my shop for over 40 years. It’s my go to machine for cross cutting. Yes, they can be dangerous. I’m very careful when I use it. I still have all my fingers. I wired it to run on 220/1ph. Maybe I’m just lucky?
