It would be awesome if you could “buy a tank for Ukraine” where us individuals can send Ukraine money for these offers of “surrender and you have a path to citizenship and we will pay you for your gear”. And then we get a picture back of the tank or missile or guns that we helped Ukraine “buy”. Bonus points if they etch our name on the equipment somewhere.
About half of the armed forces bureaucrats are devoted to making sure that soldiers give Uncle Sam* his dollar dollar bills.
*Or whatever [National Personification](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_personification) you identify with. Ukraine's national personification is [Cossack Mamay](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cossack_Mamay), apparently.
Once the Ukrainian farmer thing went mainstream, their version of the IRS put out a statement saying all captured vehicles and equipment would be declared tax exempt.
A mission to make russians change citizenship :D Always good to read that they surrender, one of the best choice they will make in their lives, and good that the message reached them.
Yeah I love these news so much, it always puts a smile on my face
Not only will they survive but they won't have other people's blood on their hands. Those hands will be needed for rebuildin'
I once seriously was considering buying an Abbot SPG I saw for sale locally. It was actually road legal and speedy enough that you could use it as a regular vehicle, and naturally get a whole lot of looks wherever you go. Thought it wouldn't make for a terrible taxi service- turn up to town and there will probably be people drunk enough to pay you a hundred dollars just to drop them at another bar a minute away.
But there were some obvious practical issues, like I'm no mechanic and would have no clue how to properly maintain it, and I don't know how hard it would be to find a good mechanic who would do a good job either. Also how much insurance would you need to pay? Also I'm in introvert, would I really want people gawking at me whenever i drove somewhere or people asking me about it whenever i parked it and got out somewhere public?
Probably not. This was five years ago! It was being sold by this company that you'd pay to drive military vehicles around a field. The pride of the business was a pair of tanks and I think you could pay them to let you drive it over an old beat up car and crush it. Alas, they were going out of business and were selling all their vehicles including the Abbot. No clue where any of it ended up!
I'm really excited at the prospect of Tunguskas and newer BTRs hitting the collector's market. After the terrible performance, they're gonna be dropping them left and right.
Those Tigr all terrain vehicles look like they might actually be decent quality. I wouldn't mind owning one of those. Definitely more practical than owning a BTR, as rad as the prospect sounds.
be a russian soldier
all your comrades are being slaughtered
deserters get shot
you are in a tank
put on a white flag
surrender the tank to Ukraine
get 10k$
EZ
Ukrainian Soldier: I accept your surrender, and thank you for your tank, here's your €7.5k bount- hey, is that blood on your tank tracks?
Russian Soldier: ... I ran over a rat
"In Russia, tank driver, top of all. Good instinct. One day, Russian Army boss need driver. But, boss die on road! Russian Army were very angry. I hide in tank, drive to Ukraine. Here Dennislav save me. But there is a secret – I kill Russian Army boss on purpose. World best tank driver make no mistake!”
I mean the answer is pretty easy. Your choices are fight and die, fight and get captured and returned to your mother, or surrender and defect and get paid to do it.
For those, like me, who have no idea what this means... Here's what it means according to UB:
>A word uttered by the priest units from the original Age of Empires game, usually when attempting to convert an enemy unit over to their side. Since then it has been used as a taunt in subsequent Age of Empires games, baffling all those who've never played the original game.
Die for a worthless scumbag and a tiny amount of a now worthless currency or get more cash than you’ve likely seen in your life and chance for a better life.
Also if you already have a number of relatives in Ukraine, as many Russians have, it is actually not that difficult to do the start in your new home country.
I’ve seen ads that are being ran in Ukrainian TV, offering money for defecting with planes and helicopters. Towards the end, they mention dedicated phone number to arrange delivery, or pilots can get in touch on Ukrainian open frequencies.
They talk to them first, then the popular white flag, and once they arrive they leave the tank, surrender, ukrainian soldiers check tank, if they do something stupid, they will get attacked with a missile or drone.
Find anyone, no gun in hands, say the codephrase, await for territorial defense to capture in agreed spot.
...
Profit.
Ps: there's more than just money, but requires few more special procedures. Also, if you have eloquent tongue, I bet you can sell 2mln dollar tank for more than 10k dollars
I don't want military secrets but I wonder where they get white flags, like it's in the tank glove compartment. I remember before the invasion started, footage of z painted tanks and white flags visible on some. I guess it's not necessary to shoot tshirt guns loaded with white flags at the invading soldiers.
Even without a white flag you can make your tank looks surrendering; turn your turret backwards, open the hatches, hang your weapons outside, or something.
I saw a TikTok of a Ukrainian billboard (or something - think it was a billboard) instructing potential Russian deserters that they could cut the white stripe off a Russian flag to use as a white flag for surrendering. So there’s that option.
You don't need to do a lot.. because a lone tank sitting out in the open properly has to or three Javelins pointed at him anyway.
All he needs to do is move carefully and not point a gun in the wrong direction
Imagine getting in an armed conflict with supposedly a top 3 world military power…. And ending up with more tanks and soldiers than what you began with
It’s surreal
Lichtenstein accomplish this feat (minus the tanks) in 1866. It sounds like a great deal for a tank.
Ukraine already has more tanks than the start of the war
More tanks, the better.
Yea but how many *lions* do they have?
Definitely less than Finland. I hear they traded their military to Kenya for some lions.
r/unexpectedpawnee
I mean so did the British in ww1
Britain had 0 tanks before the war tho
point proven
Everyone had 0 tanks before the war
It's a buyers market rn
Hey guys just graduated wondering if i should buy a tank right now or just rent one? Market is crazy
How's your credit
buy a partially destroyed one, renovate it, rent it out as four smaller tanks
Yeah the tank's life will be much better not being shot at as an enemy in the Ukraine now
It would be awesome if you could “buy a tank for Ukraine” where us individuals can send Ukraine money for these offers of “surrender and you have a path to citizenship and we will pay you for your gear”. And then we get a picture back of the tank or missile or guns that we helped Ukraine “buy”. Bonus points if they etch our name on the equipment somewhere.
Ukraine found the cheapest way to buy more tanks.
And saving costs on a Javelin missile at $78,000
and nobody gets hurt!
I'm fairly certain this hurt Putin's feelings.
And nobody gets hurt!
So win, win, win and win.
Not to mention if they’re a citizen, they’ll recoup that 7.5K€ in taxes from those that surrender.
Lmao I never once considered taxes during war. Time to get edumacated!
I consider war every time I do my taxes, does that count?

Well itd be after the war. But still
Once the Ukrainian farmer thing went mainstream, their version of the IRS put out a statement saying all captured vehicles and equipment would be declared tax exempt.
This is the way
yes this is win-win, the russian soldier cant return home anyway unless shot to pieces, sadly.
Even if he was shot to pieces, his commanding officer would either burn his corpse or leave it to rot/be eaten by animals.
Or burn it first and eat it himself?
Yeah, probably tastes better than a nonexistent MRE, and healthier than a poisoned pie.
nah Ukraine gets those for free :)
Check out this one simple trick to grow your military. Putin hates it.
Javelins cost over $200k
Launcher + missile. The missile alone is cheaper. But still expensive.

Russian tanks will be hitting the mil collectors market.
I'd love to buy one, not sure what the HOA would think
HOA doesn't have a tank so their opinion is irrelevant.
Conduct a "special home improvement operation" on them
Annex Craig's driveway and pool
"denazify" you mean
Genuinely don't think you could denazify HOAs

Funnily enough you might find more wannabe fascists leading a HOA than the russians have found in ukraine
That’s a Florida Fact.
Go to the next HOA meeting and ask for elections
["I'm *literally* in a tank, and you're not!"](https://youtu.be/UrxgtwP09Zw)
That is fucking awesome.
Hope they don’t have javelins.
Maybe keep the lid down until you have their surrender, they probably won't have javelins, but might be packing lawn darts.

Use your tank to force change to allow a tank.
You could literally park a tank on their lawn and suggest they dissolve the HOA.
Who cares what they think. You have a tank.
This has actually happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yt7xexSbfI
Ah yes, the M4A4, that were only operated by the british (just that submodel), refurbished and repainted to be an American armored unit.
>The truth is, until I decide to move it, it ain't going anywhere. Chad, lol
You could tank the market value.
treat the HOA like Russians.
Ukraine will suffer a tank inflation "I'll trade you 3 tanks, for 4 chickens".... "3 chickens and you've got a deal."

No, that's OBVIOUSLY Putin. After all, invading Ukraine gives him a sense of pride and accomplishment.
looking at North korea, I wonder what will happen to their family back in Russia, it's probably harder to surrender than we think.

How does the transition works? How would a Russian with a tank approach Ukraine forces and surrender?
Theres a phone number.

This is the correct answer.

A lot of people wear white shirts and that will suffice.
One might imagine the entire reason that the symbol for surrender is the white flag is because white cloth is by far the most available
And visible.
Underwear. I'm just gonna assume they're waving their underwear. Tighty whities.
You don't need to do a lot.. because a lone tank sitting out in the open properly has to or three Javelins pointed at him anyway. All he needs to do is move carefully and not point a gun in the wrong direction
Being a Russian armoured unit commander has become a tankless job recently.
Especially when the troops are being commanded by General Disarray.
That's the most professional conduct a soldier could display in this situation.

TheSun?! Are there not any better sources? I just automatically assume that they lie.
This is an old video from the beginning of the war when the Russians advanced in the south (a couple of days before they took that nuclear power plant, in the vicinity of this town). The people came out on the street and blocked the road, thereby stoping the tanks and making them go back the way they came. The man coming up to the tank is the mayor I believe. The worst part about the article is that you can see the tanks go in reverse and retreat, but the article says they surrendered.
If they understand the situation and have some common sense this should happen quite more often
That's called defection and frankly I support Russian soldiers defecting
Clearly old mate saw heard a tractor and took the easy way out
