To clarify better on the first comment, once you hit elite (2400) you have a cushion of 25 points (2375) to keep earning glad/legend wins. If you drop below that you have to get to 2400 again.
There's a 25 point buffer (formerly 30) before you fall out of a rank, and while Elite requires 2400 to earn you can fall down a bit before dropping back to Duelist.
This also applies to 3v3 where you can get a glad win at 2380 assuming you got elite first. If you fall back to duelist then you'll need to reach 2400 for legend/glad wins to start counting again.
Once you hit 2400, you maintain the elite rank until you drop below 2375. However, once you drop below 2375, you won't gain the elite rank again until you reach 2400.

That was fixed in season 1 unless they somehow recreated the same bug again
