The main issue for me is that they almost always have the same design - metal and fur + animal parts + animal head on one shoulder, small animal parts on the other. They don't even bother to try out the new coat legpieces on hunters. Where are the marksman sets? Where are sets with cosmetic gadgets attached which would fit the survival theme? Hunter sets are often not only ugly, but also boring.
I guess the problem is that a "Hunter" is something quite different to different races.
I hear *Troll* hunter and I think masks and throwing javelins or a wooden bow covered in feathers, or maybe even blow darts, and perhaps covered in animal bones and carved wooden armor
I hear *Dwarf* hunter and I think of a rifleman with a green cloak and sort of medieval garb, with a bear at his side
I hear *Gilnean* hunter and I think a nobleman with muttonchops and a long coat hunting foxes with his rifle in the woods
I hear *Night Elf* hunter and I think of someone dressed in feathers and ornate metal armor stalking the trees with their bow
etc.
It's quite hard to incorporate the hunter fantasy of every race into one set, so Blizzard tries to stay neutral and just go for "idk, some guy who hunts things." without leaning into any particular version of the class fantasy
IMO, they should instead make some specific sets. Give us a super savage hunter to fit the troll fantasy, I don't mind if I get it for my Human hunter, I can transmog over it. Or perhaps go super tech-y and give us the gnome/goblin hunter fantasy.
Just, lean into a theme rather than producing the same generic thing over and over
‘Hunters = dead things’ needs to die as a concept. The amount of ‘lore’ the devs seem to boast about their design is laughable. I joked about the next tier set being dead spiders and bandages (cause raid theme) and now I regret it and want nothing more than that theme.
The best hunter set imo is mythic antorus. The rest just feels like re-skins of the same old sets. Also! They always tend to have that "stalker" theme dragon stalker, rift stalker, god stalker. I get it but let's branch out a lil eh?
Return to Lordaeron questline in Shadowlands, Dark Ranger set for Hunters and customization for elves. Plus a Sylvanas armour set was datamined at some point, don't know if it was ever implemented though.
Too bad they made the player obtainable Dark Ranger set look like ass though.
Why? Thats literally the only reason why I havent even logged on with an evoker ever. If they changed this and let us go full visage form, transforming into dragons for certain spells(similar to DHs) I would glaldy fully reroll into one.
In what world? Like I get it not being your aesthetic, but it's very fitting concept wise and the Ethereal aesthetic has been a heavily asked for armor concept.
I think it looks way to heavy and bulky. There are tank sets looking less bulky than the new rogue set. I don‘t think it fits the class as a whole or any of the specs at all
Not just the mail one. Green questing plate set looks infinitely better than Warr/DK/Pal sets.
It makes no sense. I honestly think the art department, or those who greenlight these designs atm do not take power into account anymore. You used to be able to tell the difference between epic and green quality gear at a glance, even as recently as Shadowlands. Whereas now it feels like they just work on a specific theme and that's it.
And look I get it, transmog means one can just immediately change the new sets skins to something else, but tier sets should never look worse than green questing gear.
>You used to be able to tell the difference between epic and green quality gear at a glance, even as recently as Shadowlands. Whereas now it feels like they just work on a specific theme and that's it.
I think you still can tell the difference *most* of the time. It's just that they have changed what the difference is. Now it's more like,
**Set is covered in particle effects, spewing fire and glowing green and yellow and looks really inconvenient and over the top?**
That's a tier set.
**Set looks wearable and sort of low fantasy, designed to look like something you'd see a fantasy culture actually wear?**
That's questing gear
**Set looks *very* low fantasy and like something that might actually exist IRL?**
That's probably getting slapped on the Trading Post as cosmetic
I personally do not like all the spell effects with glowing bits and pieces all over the tier sets and shoulders that spew fire and what-not, so I never wear tier anymore. The low fantasy mogs we find on the questing gear and Trading Post just looks more like something you'd actually see in a fantasy setting.
I often forget that not everyone just runs around with the default DK armor transmogged over their gear. Been rocking that look since transmog became a thing. Hasn't even crossed my mind to wear a different outfit haha
I feel it’s another case of the Abberus set. People railed it when it was datamined, but holy shit the amount of times you see that chest in outfits…
Parts of it are pretty bad (namely the chest and leg texture), but it’s colors are not crazy and that trap is definitely going to come up in sets. The boots, gloves, helm and shoulders all have potential in different outfits as well.
the hunter aberrus chest is probably the single best Chest piece in the game. I have 3/4 colors on my evoker and a different mog for each color. Only other chest that comes close imo is like Nathria Plate chest.
Besides the spandex looking pants, and maybe the chest piece (Depending on whats attached to the helm and what isn't), I think it looks much better than some other sets we've got in the past.
Looking forward to be a walking bone effigy for my Survival Hunter
It’s likely that they acknowledged it was unparalleled drip and wanted everyone to be able to use it. Honestly, okay with the decision. But no idea what the tier set designers were smokin for this one.
I feel like it’d be 80% of the way to a good set if they removed the garish wings on the shoulders
I can’t wait. It’s kind of like the emerald dream with my Druid where I was FAR more excited for the outdoor sets than the tier. These teams have got to be separate or something. I imagine it’s kinda funny in the big group meeting when they reveal the sets and the tier team sees the outdoor sets and just quietly sweats
It is a close contender to judgement yea. Like a different interpitation of it, where it's less of the original take of human only paladin and more of an overall view of paladin in modern media.
On the plus side if you're doing raids and you haven't mogged you'll never be able to see your character through the constant disco fireworks show happening at every single moment on top of you.
Damn, if that's all of the stuff that she designed then we lost a really great artist :(
The animal models especially were great, and Alexstrasza's remodel was fantastic
This is a hot take but I love it. It has this fallen angel vibe, which is so rare. I love shiny, beautiful armors but man, we haven't had much of this vibe before.
Everytime someone says "this is the worst set of all time" someone else says "this is exactly the set I always wanted".
It's fun to goof on a set, but I'm at a point where we have so many sets (and off-sets) to transmog, that me liking the overall look of a set is secondary (matter of taste, someone else likes it) and I'm more looking at sets as pieces and their value in transmog compositions. Which is also why I always hope Blizzard moves more of the lower arm/wrist geometry from hand armor to wrist armor - because it allows more granularity.
A lot of people got mad blizzard made tier sets fit the aesthetic of the raid so they stopped :(
The VOI raid sets are some of my favorite sets in the game, but people who don't like rocks/earth/gems don't like them
Everyone is always going to either like or hate the sets, But these went through QA and the devs knew people would like them.
I think this set needs a little bit more work to not make it look like the wings are clipped into the shoulder, But as far as it goes now this is my favorite paladin set to have come out since legion
The problem with tying sets to a raid is that only a few classes eat good then. Regarding VotI, for example: the aesthetics of classes like DH, DK, Hunter, Priest, or Paladin have nothing to do with their respective sets. It's not even an issue of their particular designs. No matter what you'd do with these rocks, they wouldn't really fit these classes.
> Paladin already have wings during their burst
It's funny, as someone who plays a paladin and also Genshin Impact I read this and it works a different way (in that game, your Elemental Burst is more or less your ultimate ('Q')) So yes, I do in fact have wings during my burst.
I want that set from the new paladin(?) NPC that had been datamined. That one is 100% a tier set worthy look.
EDIT: It is Faerin Lothar from the TWW datamine.
Yeah for real. It actually looks like a proper set of armour someone would wear in a fantasy setting. It's not too bulky like so many sets Blizz makes, and it's got the right colours for paladins.
It even has a fur collar which for some reason Blizzard only rarely gives to plate sets, and even then they usually come with some other crap on it too.
I don't even like playing Priest but I made one got all the variant of this set just because it looks good. I missed out of the glowly eyes for the normal set though because I didn't know this was a thing until this season.
This was my first thought.
But tbf, it does look pretty cool in that image. You should used the version in the other images floating around.
All of the tier sets have looked pretty gash so far (normal for first raid tbh).
Random question but is this the patch that is going to merge the Xmog so that if my warrior picks up a piece of hunter tier it unlocks it on my account? I heard that was gonna be a thing.
I fucking knew it! The moment I saw the new paladin set I knew this meme would pop up! I knew it because it's fucking true and everyone is thinking the same thing. It's just a much worse version of the Aberrus Priest set and we're only getting it because Paladins were complaining about it during S2 of DF. Fuck!
Being a hunter main you learn the secret to any good mail hunter set sadly is to mish mash stuff that’s cool across sets to make a decent looking set lol
I do have to say, after seeing all the posts of the Pally S1 tier set without the helmet, it does look slightly *better* now that I'm seeing the helm with it. Still using "better" loosely though
Aside from the Priest shoulders I have to agree! The mythic variant of the shoulders look so good on my arcane mage 🥺
The rest of the set looks like playdough
I wish they'd make the wings a back item so I could remove them. I really really dislike wings in MMO transmog, personally. Plus the rest of that set looks amazing. I love the purity seal/prayer paper belt.
This is far from my least favorite Paladin raid set, but it's not amongst my favorites either, and notably it's not as good as what Wowhead is calling the "Arathor" plate set (is that questing? PVP? I dunno).
These new tier sets are some of the most awful collection of sets that have been in game.
The Rogue one is awesome, but the rest have way too much going on, added with goofy proportions and nauseating levels of vibrancy. Oh and are king fuckered all to shit with glowy bits..
Trade you my entire hunter tier set for your literal anything.
it's actually kind of criminal how ugly 95% of all hunter tier sets are.
Best nightelf hunter set is the one from The Nightwell
Literally just take turns making each, what?
For real. It's not rocket science.

Not nearly a good enough reason not to imo
‘Hunters = dead things’ needs to die as a concept. The amount of ‘lore’ the devs seem to boast about their design is laughable. I joked about the next tier set being dead spiders and bandages (cause raid theme) and now I regret it and want nothing more than that theme.

I just need a full Dark Ranger set to slap on a blood elf with some unoriginal Sylvanas name variant. I'll be happy.
Return to Lordaeron questline in Shadowlands, Dark Ranger set for Hunters and customization for elves. Plus a Sylvanas armour set was datamined at some point, don't know if it was ever implemented though. Too bad they made the player obtainable Dark Ranger set look like ass though.
Well, time for me to look it up if nothing else. Thanks for the info kind stranger!
I just went and looked it up. It's so goofy looking 😭
Rogues and Druids got the best sets
evoker one is like S+ tier
Yes it is, too bad we'll never see it.
Visage form is becoming permanent in combat so yeah, you'll be seeing it.
Only for non-evokers, evokers still need to be in Dracthyr form for various abilities (breaths etc)
Why? Thats literally the only reason why I havent even logged on with an evoker ever. If they changed this and let us go full visage form, transforming into dragons for certain spells(similar to DHs) I would glaldy fully reroll into one.
I do understand the need for certain abilities to require dracthyr form, all the breaths mainly, but yeah, that would be a great compromise.
The amount of class-wide leather sets being yet another rogue set is outrageous. There are. SO. MANY.
You think so? I saw rogue and think it‘s by far one if the worst.
In what world? Like I get it not being your aesthetic, but it's very fitting concept wise and the Ethereal aesthetic has been a heavily asked for armor concept.
I think it looks way to heavy and bulky. There are tank sets looking less bulky than the new rogue set. I don‘t think it fits the class as a whole or any of the specs at all
Thats because it's showcased on male humans. Try an undead and it will look vastly different.
A rogue cowl? Just bandages? The only part even remotely bulky or heavy looking are the shoulders?
It's crazy how much better the mail questing set is to the hunter set
Not just the mail one. Green questing plate set looks infinitely better than Warr/DK/Pal sets. It makes no sense. I honestly think the art department, or those who greenlight these designs atm do not take power into account anymore. Atleast the outdoor set gives you a cool steampunk trooper look
Link ?
Hey the belt will at least be cool with the bear trap. It’s something 🤷🏻♂️
I dont mind the hunter tier set honestly. I think it'd look better on other races though
I feel it’s another case of the Abberus set. That awkward moment when the green set makes a better paladin set then the actual tier
I love those green set actually being really good lately.
Several of the generic cloth designs in DF were great.
It’s likely that they acknowledged it was unparalleled drip and wanted everyone to be able to use it. Honestly, okay with the decision. But no idea what the tier set designers were smokin for this one. I feel like it’d be 80% of the way to a good set if they removed the garish wings on the shoulders
At least paladins have the new outdoors sets to use. Better than any paladin tier set ever released.
Facts plus flaming 2h sword? We eating good next expansion
Wild how the tier set looks so dog shit but the questing set is amazing.
Same for s3 pally vs emerald dream plate
It isn't too bad on blood elves but _on everybody else_...
It still looks like a plastic toy. I don't know what they did to it but the whole thing looks like a cheap plastic toy.
That’s certainly true. Those plate sets look sick!
Here is the why: The Set was designed by [Natacha Nielsen](https://www.artstation.com/natachanielsen) who left Blizzard and now works for Riot.
Damn, if that's all of the stuff that she designed then we lost a really great artist :( The animal models especially were great, and Alexstrasza's remodel was fantastic
[удалено]
thats unfortunate. thanks for the update.
Damn, she did some of my favorite models in the game.
I dont hate it but its definitely not as good
I think it would look better by just saturating the colors a bit more.
I feel like if the wings were positioned like the Challenge Mode set it would look 200x better. But yeah,
Seriously just... lower the wings a bit my god. They look glued on.
True, but let's be honest, those wings does not look good anyway. And the colors are too pale.
They need to be anchored to the shoulder blades, not the shoulders so the front and back profiles look more framed than extended.
The wing should be a back piece haha.
The paladin set looks like it’s made of plastic
This is a hot take but I love it. It has this fallen angel vibe, which is so rare. I love shiny, beautiful armors but man, we haven't had much of this vibe before.

Yeah I like it too. Paladin already have wings during their burst

Fallen? More like hidden, it's that one angel you wanna hide because it does not look good next to the other angels. lol
I want that set from the new paladin(?) NPC that had been datamined. That one is 100% a tier set worthy look. EDIT: It is Faerin Lothar from the TWW datamine.
Faerin Lothar? This?: [https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/1156945.jpg](https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/1156945.jpg)
YES THIS ONE!
I almost can't believe that's a WoW model. It looks incredible.
Yeah for real. It actually looks like a proper set of armour someone would wear in a fantasy setting. It's not too bulky like so many sets Blizz makes, and it's got the right colours for paladins. Idk, i like it.
What transmog is the "cool angel set"?
It’s the priest tier set from Aberrus the Shadowed Crucible raid.
I don't even like playing Priest but I made one got all the variant of this set just because it looks good. I missed out of the glowly eyes for the normal set though because I didn't know this was a thing until this season.
Blizzard lookin thicc

And I thought hunters got shafted once again, how the turn-tables
I think the chest needs to be bulkier instead of it being another t shirt make me look like a gold stealth bomber with legs
Yep, the torso really stands out flat.
Ah, man. Looks like he's on the way to play an angel in a elementary school Christmas play.
I think the set is amazing for tauren pally fantasy!
Ret bull?
Finally got their wings
Stupid sexy blizzard
That priest set is an overdesigned monstrosity.
Green world quest set in S1 TWW is much better paladin set than anything we got in the last 2 years.
Please let whoever designed the cloth and plate outdoor Arathor sets design all armor from now on.
Atleast it looks like a paladin plate set instead those robes
It seriously looks like Shadowlands questing armor
I’ll trade you for our DK PIN Head Larry set
I can’t wait to see the shaman set, every shaman set in DF was a banger.
Why do people draw moms all caked up like this? My friend's moms and mine were build like 'babushka' the way god intendeed
TWW is more Paladin looking, though
I still use the judgement set on my pally. Still the best looking set they have.
Does the mom need to be that hot
I love that priest set. I don't know if I ever remove it from my priests
Random question but is this the patch that is going to merge the Xmog so that if my warrior picks up a piece of hunter tier it unlocks it on my account? I heard that was gonna be a thing.
The paladin one is better.
Fuck!
I like it. I think not having the helm and the bald human head gave everyone a giga bad first impression on Wowhead.
Thankfully the questing set looks slick
I actually like it lol
Pry my favorite tier set out of my cold dead hands pally.
I left another comment stating that I like the world set better, but it’s also worth mentioning that it’s alpha and this may not be 100% complete.
Every tier set I've seen has been sup-bar, some are about as bad as it gets (Hunter)
Every tier set I've seen has been sup-bar, some are about as bad as it gets (Hunter)
That first set looks like shit lol
Being a hunter main you learn the secret to any good mail hunter set sadly is to mish mash stuff that’s cool across sets to make a decent looking set lol
I ... I actually dig it...
I do have to say, after seeing all the posts of the Pally S1 tier set without the helmet, it does look slightly *better* now that I'm seeing the helm with it. Still using "better" loosely though
A longshot but can someone tell me the original source of the panel. I remember seeing this on twitter.
Am I the only one who thinks it looks kinda badass?
That literally looks so amazing. As a priest I’d gladly fight for that angelic looking set again if we had it.
just saw the dracthyr set and looked up this one for my main and just wept at my desk. Is that first set dracthyr green set?
Green seems to be one of the recolors, but the main set is orange and black. It's supposed to look like Deathwing.
Why are the colors so washed up
I think the priest set is ugly and the paladin set is one of their best
Aside from the Priest shoulders I have to agree! The mythic variant of the shoulders look so good on my arcane mage 🥺 The rest of the set looks like playdough
Yes! It’s so lumpy! The wings are the best part for sure
This set looks awful
Dude, the only good sets so far are evoker and rogue. Everyone else got a fat L
Monk is nice
I wish they'd make the wings a back item so I could remove them. I really really dislike wings in MMO transmog, personally. Plus the rest of that set looks amazing. I love the purity seal/prayer paper belt.
I feel Like they underused the purity seals. They should be wrapped around the torso a few times too. Currently it looks undercooked
Lmao bruh all plate wearers got updated judgment set with outdoor set (ret main, im not mad at tier besides silly ass shoulders. The rest is tight)
This is far from my least favorite Paladin raid set, but it's not amongst my favorites either, and notably it's not as good as what Wowhead is calling the "Arathor" plate set (is that questing? PVP? I dunno).
It looks nice if you style it a bit with some other pieces. Wings are ok.
lol and here I love the one we have at home
Man Paladins are never gonna let go of that Priest Set are they?
I don’t get it. The paladin set that tier is equally as good
Paladin Players are a special sort. I know the meme is 'hunter weapon' but you'll find no more selfish player than the ones in the Pink
Paladins deserve this after they all freaked out on DF S2 for not getting the priest set
Tbh i think this paladin set is better than that priest one, dunno what you all don't like about it and I am paladin main.
That top set looks like overworked trash though
im gonna say the same thing i did when the priest abberus set was shown cry about it
Tell me what you want, but armor design really went south after Shadowlands
These new tier sets are some of the most awful collection of sets that have been in game. The Rogue one is awesome, but the rest have way too much going on, added with goofy proportions and nauseating levels of vibrancy. Oh and are king fuckered all to shit with glowy bits..
Idk the BfA & Shadowlands ones were probably the worst.
Uldir and Dazar have some sick mythic sets, rest I gotta agree with. The plate sets in shadowlands were all sick though
