if you are doing research, you should be getting [Liquid Courage](https://www.wowhead.com/item=194337/liquid-courage) and it solves the issue.

lowepg

I’ve gotten like 1- and used it. I have NOT gotten enough to keep up with the explosions to be sure!

Worried about just being 75/100 skill? Just wait until you find out how mandatory the knowledge point grind is to being profitable. Or worse yet that because you aren't a goblin for the 5 extra skill points from the racial you literally can't compete in certain crafts. The 'lost time' due to experimentation failures is trivial compared to the other grinds involved in professions. You can reduce this time (kind of), by spending your knowledge points on advanced experimentation. It is a subsection of the potion and phial trees and specific to just one or the other. There are MANY players who just take alchemy for the bonuses like the extended duration phials or the heal when using any potion, which only requires getting knowledge points and not fully grinding the profession to craft things themselves.

NyealationStation

Pay attention to unlearned recipes. Lots of them come from specializations versus experimentations. Same with rep ones as well. I was doing it as much as possible not realizing I learned the remainder from specializations

More__cowbell

Check how many more recepies you can learn from it? Might have all already.

terdroblade

Just take the phial duration and stop there. There's no point in spending time/gold on something when there's no benefit to it (can go for the points that nerf the toxic potion/phial side effects if you use them).

Zibzuma

The two main reasons to increase profession skill beyond a certain point are gold and achievements. Alchemy is a suboptimal choice for gold, because of the relatively high gold and time investment required to make a steady profit and even then the profits aren't huge. Alchemy is however the best choice for a profession for any M+ or raid character for the reasons you mentioned. If you don't care for the reasons above, that's the strategy.

terdroblade

Tbh, the only professions that a new player can make gold with now are probably gathering. I mean, it's doable, but would need a huge time and gold investment to catch up to the other crafters and at this point you are a lot of gold down depending on the profession and recipes. It's not worth it any way you look at it IMHO (except for achievements hunters probably)

Zibzuma

Gathering professions are definitely the easiest, but you can still make a lot of gold with professions other than alchemy, engineering or jewelcrafting, even if you're just starting out. It does require a significant time investment for the knowledge points and a decent starting capital, though. I wouldn't recommend it to new players, but anybody with some experience in WoW's economy can definitely try.

Tpower1000

Don't forget the best part in alc. It is cheaper to by the flask then to craft it^^

Zibzuma

Reason for this is multicraft and resourcefulness. Materials for one phial are more expensive than the phial, but if you get a multicraft and/or resourcefulness proc, you break even or make a profit. You need to invest a decent amount of time and gold for knowledge points and profession equipment to make a steady profit with alchemy.

Zibzuma

No other profession has a mechanic like that, but most professions require soulbound sparks to craft epics items for their final 10-30 skill points. And the recipes require specializing. So there's still a tedious limit, which can be circumvented by buying sparks from others or you can create trial characters, travel to Valdrakken, do the S1 spark quests, send crafting orders, log out, fulfill orders and repeat.
