I can see where your idea also sounds like his type of work too now that you mention it. I know Lovecraft focused a lot on fear, and Blackwood kind of contrasts that by focusing more on the wonder of the experience in his writings, though still horror. I think Lovecraft is a bit more mainstream at the moment so that is likely why that pops in mind easier
Exactly! Lovecraft’s writing always had this very scientific, inhumane, and almost clinical / sterile aspect to it, while Blackwood leaned into magical and awe-inspiring writing in his descriptions of nature etc….
Honestly I would have thought of Lovecraft first as well, it‘s sad but Blackwood is completely overshadowed by him from a modern perspective.
I recently had a project that folded where aliens released giant kaiju on the planet but a bunch of earths cryptids and myths rose up to defend it. But after the war, everyone was just kind of stuck here and its a very mundane apocalypse, like everyone is figuring out how to farm if at any point a giant blue alien ciuld suddenly walk across your fields and leave you in a famine.

I’m glad you dig the concept! Might take a while to finish haha. The working title is ‘Shark McGill and the Crown of Temporia’. That’ll probably change.
I’m watching one piece currently on Netflix and it’s really good, and your synopsis has the same vibe from what I can see, so I would definitely be excited to read it if you ever released it!

I opened this post just as I was falling asleep last night, and read the first two comments. This morning it was still open, but I’d forgotten what sub I was in, and what the topic was, and for the next 6 or so comments, I thought I was reading people’s current going’s on in their lives. It was very wild and confusing.

Sounds lovecraftian! I love stories like this
Turned out very Lovecraftian indeed according to my beta readers, though I aimed at more of a Blackwood vibe
I can see where your idea also sounds like his type of work too now that you mention it. I know Lovecraft focused a lot on fear, and Blackwood kind of contrasts that by focusing more on the wonder of the experience in his writings, though still horror. This sounds so cool!
The world has ended, but it's happier now.
Plausible, to say the least!

Message me the summary when you finish! :) It sounds neat!
I’m glad you dig the concept! Might take a while to finish haha. The working title is ‘Shark McGill and the Crown of Temporia’. That’ll probably change.
You had me at pirate princess
Not just a sharkman, you cursed him too?
To be clear, the curse was being transformed into a sharkman lol. So I guess the cursed part was redundant.
I thought you really hated this character 😈
Haha no I love the guy. And it’s because I love him that I make him suffer.
Shut up and take my money!!
Thanks for the encouragement! I’ve just started writing after laying a lot of the groundwork so I can’t take anybody’s money yet haha

Indeed it would!
A quiet, anxious man who has the ability to see people’s inner demons is thrust into the life of a drug mule when his desperate, power-hungry brother jumps at the chance to make $400,000 by smuggling two hundred pounds of cocaine.
Sounds sick! And I don't know why, but every time I read anything that has cocaine in it, I think of the movie “Cocaine Bear.” 😂
Thank you! As for Cocaine Bear, that’s a fair thought.
Haha, yeah. You're welcome! I wish you the best of luck!
A young witch goes on a pilgrimage through conflicting races, aided by a mysterious boy who just wouldn't die.
This sounds cool!
A Soldier stuck in the struggle of modern-day existence, the violent ugliness of humanity, vicious cyclical tragedies, and the converging conflicts of cultural perspectives. I'm going to try to make that work...
Sounds intriguing and very character-oriented, I love books like that.

But that's been done! ;-)
