Or, does anyone know of a quality polished alu or even chromed steel rear mounted kickstand?

Unfortunately I didn't find one, so I took the hebie, the black colour is a shame on that bike but I don't want a bike without a sturdy stand.

Smart move. I think I've found a silver one by Pletscher, see whether anyone still sells it ...
