If you can get a good deal, by all means go with what you can afford. If you can splurge a little bit, I'd recommend you try to get a used Xbox Series S if you can, or spring for the 1TB black model (the storage upgrade goes a long way) if possible. The Series S gives you a huge quality of life and performance upgrade over the Xbox One and for someone who enjoys the console experience, it's a night and day difference. Plus, you'll get to enjoy the entire Game Pass library including all current gen games and features, whereas you'd be stuck on last gen games only with the Xbox One.

If you already have a decent PC though, you could get a lot of games out of gamepass on PC, but I understand if you want to go back to the console experience.

get a used X
I would try and get a series console at this point because the one is very outdated by now and a series will probably last you longer
get a budget controller and buy gamepass on cdkeys. steam has a game mode too and it kinda turns your pc into a steam console.
Xbox achievements, those matter to me
I would get the xbox amd the get game pass unlimited. You get online play, cloud gaming, pc gaming and tons of discounts in the store.

If you have a PC or a decent gaming laptop. Just go for game pass ultimate.
I would go steam and gamepass. The way it looks Microsoft isn’t going to have console exclusives going forward.
