Most roads in the park close to wheeled vehicles on Oct. 31. The exception is the road between the north and northeast entrances (Gardiner and Cooke City). That road stays open all winter.
So you wouldn’t be able to visit Old Faithful, for example, in November.
And, yes, it will be cold. West Yellowstone has already had sub-freezing overnight lows.
Thank you all for this information. The main park page says they’re open 365 days a year, and I didn’t investigate further, so I’m very glad I asked Reddit! I have decided to cancel the trip for now and go somewhere warmer instead 😂
It's already freezing now. The low in Canyon Village for the next week is sub 30 degrees and will continue to only get lower. Not to mention it'll be most likely snowed over and closed.
Depends on the type of adventure you're looking for. The north part of the park will still be open (Gardiner, cook city, etc.) But you'll need to plan small and be prepared for snow and ice every day, regardless of what the weather is when you leave in the morning. Roads will close randomly, flights get delayed, and traveling anywhere takes longer than you expect. So if you are very flexible and fine with moving slow or not doing anything much at all, it'll be fine.
Most of the park will be closed at that point.
Wouldn’t go with a 3 y/o that time of year

Park closes October 1.. only mammoth and limited snow coach transportation to old faithful remain open.
The majority of park roads and visitor services will be closed for winter. See [Last Day](https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/hours.htm) column.
Bring xc skis!!

Not a good idea. Most of park is closed and it will be extremely cold.

If we have a shutdown it may be closed.
Not going anywhere when the Government shut downs.
If you don’t mind snow closures
Bad idea
Nothing to see here.... move along
Not to mention it may be shut down because of the government shut down.
