Edison format is still in an era where archetypes are not really the norm in terms of deck building. Quickdraw dandy warrior is literally just a bunch of good stuff jammed together. Dragons are just good dragon monsters jammed into a deck. There's several HERO variants that just play like 3 hero monsters because miracle fusion is crazy. Edison is also in a time where there are not that many good generic extra deck options available, so everyone plays the same stuff because there is literally nothing else available

> It seems like most decks run the same extra decks, and the deck itself is just an engine to bust out stardust. Edison is a format from a little over 2 years after Synchros were introduced to the game. As a result, there is a much more limited pool of extra monsters to draw from in Edison than there is now. Most decks that can make a level 8 Synchro are going to be running Stardust just be virtue of the fact that it's one of the only good generic level 8 Synchro's in the game, along with Colossal Fighter and Thought Ruler. > Does no one play pure decks? Or am I just looking in the wrong place? Most of the decklists you are seeing are probably designed with competitiveness in mind. Playing a pure deck is going to be less effective than playing staples and an engine that can provide good value. That's true of most formats, not just Edison, but the smaller card pool and more time spent solving the format means you're going to see more similarities between decks as people figure out what the "best" cards are.

Just because it’s a different format doesn’t mean people aren’t going to optimize their decks.

Gladiator beast is pretty much just gladiator beasts

What do you mean by pure decks? If you mean archtypes then play something in the early xyz era. If you are asking theres like only 5 top decks and all of them are quite similar its because theres no reason to run bad cards to be different....

Very few Edison decks "turbo" out Stardust, as there aren't many ways to make level 8s efficiently (namely, with 2 monsters in 1 turn), not to mention Caius beats every generic synchro 8 in the pool. In fact, many Edison ED Synchros are just there to be there on the off chance that you brain control/mind control a tuner (and for starlight road)
