It's an ignition effect so it can only lock your opponent from special summoning during your turn. Hardly a problem esp when it's a rank 9 cxyz monster

I’m being a bit dramatic, but it’s still funny that nightmare is a card that still exists. While you can’t puppet lock on your opponents turn, if your opponent doesn’t respond to the rank 9’s effect on turn 3, which is more than likely with the field spell, an OTK is in their future, as a majority of decks in the meta summon during your turn. Although I might be overestimating this support a bit, we will see.

I may be missing something but none of this get the puppet lock right? The special to the opponents field isn’t a quick effect and nightmare only stops summons on the turn it’s summoned. At best it just stops nib right? Edit: Now that all the cards have been translated I honestly think that every single one of these cards are insane(especially the field spell, I mean it’s a misc that also searches for you, and the trap that’s very easily searchable and can easily steal 2+ with the new extenders). The main issue(take this with a grain of salt because I’ve only played a bit of gimmick puppet), but honestly I can’t really see a win con that isn’t some stupid disaster leo ftk alongside burn from string counters, which idk how that’s going to play out.

first thing to mind is burn damage the 2 grinder, chaos strings and the new cxyz blow up your opponents monsters for damage based off original atk. so ig the idea is to add a way to burn turn 1 by giving them a 3k bomb.

Let's see. If you summon an Xyz of your own with high ATK to the opponent's field, you can deal a bunch of burn damage with Giant Grinder? Giant Hunter does that with any monster, so you could do that for some burn. Similarly Gimmick Puppet of Strings into Gimmick Puppet of Dark Strings can deal a bunch of burn if you give your opponent a sufficiently strong monster to blow up. ...I just really hope they're not going to somehow make Disaster Leo FTK possible.

**FTK ALERT?** Fantasy Machinex, Fanatics Machinex, and Doll House all summon a monster to your opponent's field (your choice with the last two). The trap also does, but the turn restriction nulls it. Number 15 has two pops for full ATK damage on an Xyz monster. Number C15 has one additional pop for full ATK. Assuming you pop Fantasy, you need 6500 ATK on your last two pops for the FTK. Number C40 has 3300 ATK. Can it be done? EDIT: While the trap has a turn restriction, combining it with Fanatics Machinex's half ATK pop during opponent's standby means you can do a basically-a-FTK with just base Number 40 alone (3000 ATK). You just need a way to dump the trap on your turn. This removes the need for a third RUM, meaning you can do both needed rank-ups off of one Argent Chaos Force thanks to its built in recycle. Pop Number 40 twice and Fantasy once during your turn, then do one more on the opponent's turn with Fanatics. You can search both the RUM and the trap as part of the natural combo. Have fun!

Giving your opponent cursed dolls is fun thematically. I'm happy with these even if they dont end up being good, because despite amazing visual design their actual gameplay had very little identity.

Between Little Soldiers, Condolence Puppet and Chimera Doll, might this be the archetype with the most potent targeted mill not counting things like Zombies?

Martha can only be special summoned if you control no monsters or only xyz monsters, ruddy doll can be summoned whenever you feel like it. Martha has to summon Elis so her effect goes offline once your 3 Elis are not in the deck, ruddy doesn't summon any specific gimmick puppet so it's hard to run out of targets. Ruddy doll also provides free follow up for, like, no reason.

The field is not even close to as good as the Tenpai field spell. You are only unaffected by non-XYZ MONSTERS effects so s/t and xyz monsters (obviously) still affect them.

I know people are talking about the puppet lock but  can we focus on how funny Ruddy doll is. Literally an E-tele that puts itself on board along with being able to be recycled. You already locked yourself into Gimmick Puppets before, so the restriction was already presento

One thing I'm missing is can they Nightmare lock on your opponent's turn? From what I'm seeing, these are all ignition effs, not quick effs to summon to your opponent's field.

They cannot, but it could be used to stop Nebiru.

I thought Gimmick Puppets would get a new card that has an effect involving String Counters, similar to how Blackwing Auster plays with the counters used in Blackwings. An effect that places String Counters without needing base Number 40 would make using C40's effect a lot more flexible.

I like to think that the Field Spell was made specifically for Gimmick Puppet Leo

in a recent set ancient gears for 3 maindeck monsters a spell and a trap no new fusions. so it is possible the remaining anime archetype in this set is from vrains era but they give them no new link monsters. just saying it's a possibility. otherwise it's from arc v and it will get 1 new fusion

technically from the slots there will be supports for an Arc-V character, slot 34 is a fusion, so it could be a fusion (frightfur, lunalight, gladiator Beast, D/D/D) or synchro slot 37 (battle wasp, cardian flower, wind witch). I hope Sora perse 🙏🧸🪚❤️

It's really cool that you can just pull it without using garnets or other non-archetype cards, so if you get interrupted you can just switch strategy and go control. It would be nice being able to C88 ftk too, just another fancy way to win.

You can C88 in a similar way just have to do things in different order and burning different xyz for different lp amount, but why wait till the EP when you can just end it earlier

If the next anime deck is from Arc-V, I hope it's Battlewasp. Also I just realized this set broke the trend of support for the previous set's series getting support revealed in OCG times. (DUNE gave us Altergiest after CYAC, and then AGOV had T.G., etc) It still features more cards for a DM archetype, but only as the Cover theme + Gold Sarc, the cover theme of LEDE.

Bloody Doll is straight up insane. Circular levels of good for the deck with how much it does alone and how easy it is to get access to. Sure, it locks you to dolls but Dreary Doll already did that and has been a key card for the deck for ages now.

I recognized an anime reference in the last artwork - Quattro’s Giant Grinder used its effect to destroy Bronk’s Tin Archduke and Caswell’s Antidote Nurse (which isn’t released in real life yet) and he did it twice because of Gimmick Puppet Princess (not released in real life too).

I remember reading somewhere that Gimmick puppets' gimmick is supposed to be manipulating monsters on the opponent's field for burn damage. These cards seem to facilitate that

Not a fan of how the Xyz looks but otherwise Im just happy Gimmick Puppets do plays now.

Nah they usually have 2 anime themes to reveal anyway, one for Twitter and the other for the stream.

omg real gimmick puppet support in 2024?! I wonder why the both Xyz have 3100 atk/def. I get Number 15 for Giant Killer. 3+1=4? dude why. Why the cattle scream look just like that monster from Ritual movie. Creeped me out when I found the scene online. lol I almost thought Konami won't ban Nightmare because the CXyz would want to summon it to your opponent's field, but it's not a quick effect. Phew. hmm lot of summoning to opponent's field. Like I get the reference with Giant Killer and interaction with the new CXyz, but what's the goal and is there a limit?

Gimmick Puppet of Strings combined with Dark STrings also burn the opponent if they have big monsters you can pop. I'm guessing the intent is to go for big burn, and either win outright or facilitate Disaster Leo.

Geezus I forgot how many times and how much the Xyz can burn for. With Giant 'Grinder', Giant Hunter, Dark Strings, and Fanatix Makina, you could go for OTK. Oh so that's what the new cards detaching Xyz materials are for. Disaster Leo finish

Oh yeah, now that you mention it, that makes sense. Certainly better than hoping you get a card like Oni-Gami Combo.

wow i barely know anything about this archetype but these arts alone make me want to play it.

Very excited with this, Gimmick Puppets were like one of the first archetypes I ever learned, so it's about time for some new cards. That aside: People, please, unless the translations in the comment are wrong, you have zero cards here that let you summon Nightmare to the opponent's field during their turn. None of the effects that can summon Nightmare are Quick Effects, and the trap cards GY effect can only target XYZ monsters. Please feel free to point out where I'm wrong because I'd find it very funny if we could, but I don't see how you can with these cards.

with the Superheavy package you can already get an extra normal by searching Guitarr and summoning Miccs

Okay this is actually the funniest choice they could've made for a new Gimmick Puppet. Absolutely perfect choice for Quattro's personality. The dual d-pads are a really nice touch, as well. Reeeeaal terrified about the prospect of two monsters having effects that revolve around monsters being special summoned to an opponent's field (and one of them special summoning themselves). Already didn't like that taking the fun out of Branded duels, and now its own archetype seems to have it. I hope it doesn't lead to turn-skip turbo shenanigans this time around.

No quick effect to summon nightmare (I think,) and the other one only revives your opponent's monsters. I could be missing stuff, and given the mindset of Yu-Gi-Oh players, they might find a way
