yea i mean i think its less of a comment on late 30s being āoldā and more about the fact that by that point in peoples timeline they have often made up their minds about the kinda of things they like.

Yeah yeah, I don't know who is in charge of the soundtrack department at EA when choosing the soundtracks for the NHL game, but he has very few misses.
EA has had a pretty consistent history of having excellent music curation for its soundtracks where the songs are neither super well known nor obscure. I've found a lot of good music from EA Sports soundtracks over the years.
They really do cater their selection to the sport and the player base. Generally rap for Madden, rock for NHL, and indie/alternative rock and pop electronica for FIFA. I'm not a huge rap fan personally either nor do I really play Madden so maybe it all adds up haha.
Thank God for Spotify, am I right? I have a playlist for NHL, MLB, and Madden. For the NHL I usually add songs from previous NHL soundtracks from Gob and Trebble Charger when I was in high school, along with some goal songs like Raise Up and Gold on the Ceiling, and some modern tracks which now includes Hollywood Baby(I also added Doritos and Fritos for good measure).
I'm 31 and my gf is 39, we love Gecs and have seen them twice. Music is for everyone. Gatekeeping/agism is lame. Props for branching out of the norm and giving new music a chance š
As an older millennial I felt like the second album was made specifically for people my age, it's basically a homage to all the music I listened to 20 years ago.
Music as an art form is an ever evolving technology. 100 gecs music wasn't possible even 10 years ago because the software didn't exist. Younger generations will always be the ones to push it forward, because they have a wider access music and new music making technology.
It's a good thing to embrace the music of younger people. Enjoy what you like and never apologize. You don't want to end up as an old person, yelling at kids to get off your yard. Im pretty sure dylan and laura are in their late 20s, that's not even that big of an age gap. Gec on and godspeed!
I was watching the Hollywood Baby video on YouTube and I saw that Laura was wearing a Limp Bizkit shirt. When I was in high school, I listened to Limp Bizkit. And Laura and Dylan are the right age to have listened to Limp Bizkit growing up. So if that's what influences them in their music, then I guess their music just sound right to me.

Im 38, had punk parents, grew up with skaters and graffiti and hiphop, got into hardrock and metal at 20 and now listen to a weird mix of hyperpop, hiphop, rock, jazz and drum and bass and play western tunes on the harmonica. Gimme any music and i make my own choice if i like it :)
