Greater London, Glasgow City, West Midlands, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire, Lancashire, Tyne and Wear, Belfast, and Edinburgh

Mine, exactly. Sometimes I wonder why everyone has the same UK regions

kendylou

Most populated areas at the time, odds are your ancestors were from there?

[deleted]

Probably. I've just noticed that any time I see someone's UK regions they are just about the same as mine and yours.

Uhhhhhhjakelol

Yep, mine too. To the T, almost.

My mom's top UK regions, in order: Greater London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, West Midlands, South Yorkshire, Glasgow City, West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire. Until the last region update, though, she had Gwynedd as 10 and Tyne and Wear at 7 or 8. West Yorkshire and Northamptonshire bumped them, if I remember correctly, but it may have been Nottinghamshire and not Northamptonshire. ETA: Forgot I was connected to my aunt, mom's sister. Hers are: Greater London, Merseyside, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Glasgow City, West Midlands, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear and Hertfordshire.

Greater London, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Glasgow City, West Midlands, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, South Yorkshire, and Kent. Not sure if you are interested in Ireland as well, but since 23&me lumps B&I together I'll add those: Dublin, Cork, Galway, Mayo, Donegal, Tipperary, Roscommon, Limerick, and Meath.

The 23andMe "Regions" are just silly to me. I'm half British, born there, my mum's family for the most part has lived in the same county (actually TOWN) for generations, yet 23andMe says I'm only 18.8% British & Irish, with TEN different British regions and FIVE Irish, from one end of the countries to the other, just scattered like a roll of the dice. I can't imagine an American is going to get any closer results.

Greater London, Glasgow City, Tyne and Wear, Greater Manchester, Belfast, Mersey side, West Midlands, Lancashire, South Yorkshire, Edinburgh. I am simply genuine Donovan. My mom is a scottish line. My Haplogroups are the entire isles, both parents, all regions. Irish has 18 of 25 municipalities in my current list. South Sweden with some original scotland transplanted on and on. More than 1k years with ease. (more like 4k+)

nugguht

technically i’m not one bit british (according to 23andme) but the regions are [these](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/782362591367659541/1006309665522581625/IMG_8078.png) edit: i put them as it’s british and irish, although i saw on my aunts ancestory test, she got some british so

1. Greater London 2. Lancashire 3. Merseyside 4. Glasgow City 5. South Yorkshire 6. Greater Manchester 7. Belfast* 8. Tyne and Wear 9. West Yorkshire 10. Warwickshire *Belfast is likely included due to my much more recent (circa 1900s) Irish ancestry. ETA: Based on the paper trail information, the actual regions my 1600s-1700s British ancestors were from included: Wiltshire (2), Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Berkshire, Wales (2), Nottinghamshire, Essex, Suffolk (3), Hampshire, Hertfordshire, and Dorset. British geography makes my head hurt, so I'm not sure whether those match up well to 23andme's "administrative regions", but I think there's at least a few places of overlap.
