They also call any kind of short pasta "macarrones" and not only maccheroni, so it's difficult to even understand what they mean.
This recipe says macarrones, for example, but the pasta in the picture is not maccheroni:
https://www.pequerecetas.com/receta/macarrones-con-chorizo/
It was a derogatory acronym made during the financial crisis of 2009 to indicate the nations that were most affected: Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. The acronym originally was PIIGS (sometimes GIPSI) to include Ireland as well, it was coined and vastly adopted by many northerners journals and even politicians
There's only one acronym that has beenlegitimised, elevated by mainstream media and by politicians in their official statements, and that's PIGS. Any other acronym from northerners is a cringe attempt to make up a fraction of the fraternal unity that the PIGS had always had, even before the crisis. They're envious and they try to emulate our greatness and how we owned the acronym that was intended to belittle us, but it just made us stronger
Maybe it's my separatist blood speaking, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the man in the picture. Jamón serrano is still better than prosciutto though.
Look i am from Siena. And while I will always defend our sausages, our rosticciane, cinghiale and tdose delicious dry cinghiale sausages... Hanno serrano is better than crudo toscano. Ita Just so flavourful and oily and it just gives me an erection every time
Brothers. Let not passion take your eyes from the truth and your hearts from reality. For scandalous may be the ways of passion, but the blood that ties the PIGS together as one, shall stand taller than all scandals and wider than all lies.
Honestly, i'll take both. Both are good. Carbonara is more refined as a meal ImO, but I love chorizo so I'll take that too. Just fight each others while I'll enjoy the show AND the meals, thanks you.
Adding chorizo to anything feels like cheating. It may not be haute cuisine, but you know it's going to taste well.
Except with seafood, of course. Barry, I'm watching you.
In all seriousness, I once did a quick barbecue of large, unpeeled gambas and chorizo pieces and it still stands as one of the finest simple meals I've ever had.
I was camping outside Cordoba at the time. No, not in a Redcoat, but fight me if you must. It's a balcony I'm willing to die on.
>Except with seafood, of course
I don't know man... It's ok, if you know what you're doing. The other day I thought of adapting a [Jambalaya](https://images.app.goo.gl/mW6Q3dQDiNtzJKXa7) recipe to my Iberian taste, so I used **chouriço** (which is smoked just like you do in Galicia), with shrimps. And let me tell you, it turned out really well, and very tasty!
I haven't lived in Spain for nearly two decades now but I can taste this and it's making me gag. My mom used to put in those ham cubes that would turn into rubber when fried and it was the most disgusting shit ever. To this day they still don't buy proper fucking bacon.

Two foods can be good at the same time, in different way.
And it's not like we don't have 400 different kinds of pasta dishes you know? I can probably tell my grandma that pasta with chorizo is typical Calabrian and she would not doubt it for a second.
this turned from an argument to a hate crime. we weren't gonna use such crude and hateful means, yet you chose to for the sake of the feeling of superiority, i hope you're (not) satisfied by your cruelty.
Using cream instead of making it properly is the reason I thought I hated carbonara as a kid. Once I discovered the real thing I was like WHY DO SPANISH MOMS MAKE THAT SHIT AND CALL IT CARBONARA
Adding cream is indeed a French thing
Making a fucking swimming pool in your plate, however, I think it's a very Spanish thing to do with non-traditional dishes
a lot of them are cigan or latinos themselves in the big cities. The german looking ones are usually catalans and basques, aka the ethnic minorities that have more culture in common with celtic populations than regular Castilians they are currently occupying and oppressing.
The average 'ethnic' spaniard looks like a moor-french hybrid
"Italy is now threatening to withdraw from Euro 2024."
It's a hate crime.
They also call any kind of short pasta "macarrones" and not only maccheroni, so it's difficult to even understand what they mean. This recipe says macarrones, for example, but the pasta in the picture is not maccheroni: https://www.pequerecetas.com/receta/macarrones-con-chorizo/
In my experience, macarrones is usually for stuff like penne or fusilli, and espaguetis is used for any long pasta.
The good ones are the long thin one ones, right . The ones that look like noodles.
Holy shit, PIGS civil war confirmed?!
Nah, Pablo was so tired so we decided to score a goal for them.
True PIGS brothership ensuring we pass to the round of 16 no matter what
You have to take wins where you find them, but I wouldn't be dancing over an own goal.
Better laugh on it than crying about, I guess.
Question, what does it mean in EU when they are called PIGS?
Portugal, Italy, Greece, and Spain
thanks
It was a derogatory acronym made during the financial crisis of 2009 to indicate the nations that were most affected: Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain. The acronym originally was PIIGS (sometimes GIPSI) to include Ireland as well, it was coined and vastly adopted by many northerners journals and even politicians
Used in SWINE and Holland.
Who are the swine now? We are starting to get too many acronyms
When Ireland left the PIGS, it went to SWINE. Scotland- Wales- Ireland - Northern Ireland- England
That's just UK with extra steps
The extra steps make the cool dance.
There's only one acronym that has beenlegitimised, elevated by mainstream media and by politicians in their official statements, and that's PIGS. Switzerland, Westphalia, Ingland, Norway and the Emirate of Sweden
I take this as a war declaration
Hopefully you will outperform the last few
At this point I don’t even care about the match, I want revenge on that guy. Also, put the “possibly disturbing” flair
hey, the match wasn't that bad, we played 1 vs 21 :p
I like those odds
yes if we didn't help them they wouldn't have even won
Maybe it's my separatist blood speaking, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the man in the picture. Jamón serrano is still better than prosciutto though.
Isnt it Spanish prosciutto basically? Anyway, can’t be better than crudo toscano
Look i am from Siena. And while I will always defend our sausages, our rosticciane, cinghiale and tdose delicious dry cinghiale sausages... Hanno serrano is better than crudo toscano. Ita Just so flavourful and oily and it just gives me an erection every time
You guys talking jamon serrano without even realizing that that is actually the mediocre one. The good one is jamon iberico de bellota.
This. Jamón serrano is the one fed to dogs in the dog pound. And still, it is better than prosciutto Di Parma
It totally can, and is.
Can’t switch sides if it’s a 1v1
Or can they? 👀
We scored to ourselves, of course we can.
May I side with you, sweet Luigi?
Brothers. Let not passion take your eyes from the truth and your hearts from reality. For scandalous may be the ways of passion, but the blood that ties the PIGS together as one, shall stand taller than all scandals and wider than all lies.
So say we all

Amen.

Real french creamy carbo or fake italian egg carbo ?
A weeb acting like he doesnt eat instant noodles 7 days a week
Even when I went to Japan , I didn't eat instant noodles. I'm french, I like to eat good stuff.
Of course you went to Japan. Cringe
I speak Japanese, so I went there to get better at speaking the language.
No you dont. You wish you did but you're just a weeb
You're just jealous.
Holy shit you must be a mind reader to know alat
Portugal: "where´s the bacalhau?"
Now, there is a proper meal.
There's a severe lack of caralhos in your sentence
Epah caralho onde é que está o bacalhau, caralho
bro didn't even get his own flag right
but he looks like the frontman of unprocessed so yes, my love, everything you say
Gotta be that guy and disagree. Not like anybody cares, but i stand on this hill.
I die on this hill. The Carbonara is absolutely better. If you leave the egg yolk out it's gricia which is maybe one of Italy's best pasta dishes
It is better, you don't have to die on the hill. Give it to the Dutch, that way they'd have two.
Fuck you very much it's a mountain. You can see that in my flair
Such a cute, little mountain, its so adorable.
We have the most mountains in the world. Why else would everythinf be called a berg?
Im not sure if thats a good argument or not, because for me Berg is just as Norwegian of a word as it is Dutch to you
You haven't tried mine man... el Pozo chorizo, and tomate frito and pasta from día.. cannot beat it, simple as
Talking about cusine, Im going to Madrid this summer. Any suggestion for good tapas bar (especially food wise)?
Yeah, go to the Chamartin Train station, and pick a train to San Sebastian. That's the best area in Madrid for tapas.
Fucking based northern Spain bro! And once you get to San Sebastian Luigi, dont call them tapas, call them pintxos.

I have to side with you, there're a few places where you shouldn't put chorizo.
As Spain won this is now confirmed as true. It’s like in game of thrones when they have a trial by combat, and whoever loses is guilty
Pasta and sausage? Lol, that's like the base for pasta dishes
https://preview.redd.it/uq8i9ewrvs7d1.png?width=128&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7409e7cbff567f0fa861365e02b26751c2f9af6 i speak both languages when i say IDIOTA
Only way to settle this is too deliver one of each to an impartial third party. I volunteer myself.
I had some carbonara with proper guanciale of pork cheeks in Sicily and it was absolutely amazing
Now all i want from this summer is just going to Spain to ate that
I'm going to warn you: the pasta is going to be overcooked.
Please forgive my brother, he is regarded
Was there any doubt about it? Pedro > Luigi, except when I'm eating Pizza. Then Luigi is my best friend.
with chorizo??? with tuna man
The question is: tuna with or without tomato sauce? (Without it's clearly superior)
with, and grated cheese (clueless)
What cheese tho? Grana padano, parmigiano or pecorino?
Piemontino 👀
grana padano precisely
Off with this guy's head
And cheese
Hell yeah
Raclette >>>>>>
Nothing, I repeat, nothing is better than a good Carbonara

Paella > Risotto frutti di mare
Pizza con frutti di mare > paella
What Is your flag? Some Europa universalis roleplay?
Pablo was so tired so we decided to score a goal for them. This is the ultimate form of brotherhood 💪
They both slap equally, like literally equally.
Si el chorizo es bueno y llevan bechamel, no hay duda, son mejores.
No one does pork better than iberians
They have to make up for the muslim era.
This is perfect for this sub r/lies
Sorry but no

as long as they're convinced. the pure people know that the answer to life is Carbonara, but lazy minds such as spaniards cannot comprehend.
Two foods can be good at the same time, in different way. And it's not like we don't have 400 different kinds of pasta dishes you know? I can probably tell my grandma that pasta with chorizo is typical Calabrian and she would not doubt it for a second.
La Carbonara se caga en la hostia de los Macarrones con chorizo.
Maricónes con chorizo?
Frikandel >>>> everything
Both? Both.
Carbonara is better because of crème fraîche
Us french watching from the side as we replace chorizo for one with ham and egg yolk with crème fraîche for the other. Don't mind us
"Italy has sent Storm Shadow missiles to Catalonia."

Pot Noodle conquers all!
pasta is pasta, unless it's touched by barbarians. end of discussion
Macarrones is the worst type of pasta ever invented.
TIL Spaniards write the lesser-than sign the other way around. Funny how many of those obscure cultural differences exist.
isn't macarroni italian too though
Macarroni is american. Maccheroni are the italian thing.
quite. it seems that the spaniards can't bother to make something fully original. ~~guess they're too lazy.~~
The poors fighting over literal scraps.
Pasta carbonara with milk cream and bacon.

Adding cream to things seems a French thing, using bacon a British one so it must be the Americans.
Adding cream is indeed a French thing Making a fucking swimming pool in your plate, however, I think it's a very Spanish thing to do with non-traditional dishes
I prefer them with txistorra
This is why we really want independence
The ability of Spaniards to look either Mexican or German as the woman in the back, will never cease to amaze me
It depends on whether the americans think we are white this week or not.
