Also, the ride is very different from other vehicles. Even ones just 5 years newer. Your back/neck/hips will notice if this is a daily on Michigan roads. And this is not a great freeway vehicle. I have driven my 87 on ~1500 mile (one way) trips yearly for the last 5ish years. I feel that one for days after. The seats and suspension just aren’t built for comfort. These don’t have 1 cup holder in them. I just say that as to state, comfort wasn’t in their top concerns when designing.

You can still occasionally find very nice examples for 12 - 15k out here in the Pacific Northwest. You definitely have to be patient, though. I guess if they end up at a dealership or on BringATrailer, they'll end up priced pretty high.

It looks like the rear leaf springs are sagging? Mine had worn rear leaf springs. I would hit a bump and be feeling it a 1/4 mile down the road.

They are more of a collector item than a reliable daily driver. That’s what’s driving the prices high.
