It was made for the 80's. It was a good movie for the time. I vividly remember Wally George on the Hot Seat pitching this movie. Me and my my brothers went and saw it, and omg, it was the best movie for a 13 year old. What a cast of stars- Charlie Sheen, Patrick Swayze, Lea thompson, Jennifer Grey, Powers Booth, etc.
"the Chair is against the wall. John has a long Mustache...."
As somebody said, the first 10 minutes- were very action packed and scary if you think about it, but haven't thought about that until the October 7th 2024 , videos all over social media of the massacre in Israel and the patrons leaving the the Supernova festival. They did not stand a chance.
He was perfectly cast in that role. He looked the part and had that leader charisma where you could believe he was the king of bank-robbing surfers. Not to mention that film has the best foot chase I think I've ever seen.
We are getting married at Mountain Lake Lodge this November where they filmed this movie!
There are plackards everywhere that denote famous scenes.
Our ring/vow ceremony is in the gazebo that Baby was teaching dance class with the elderly, right near the lift scene in the lake!
Less than 5 percent of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive. I miss Swayze so much. ..and Im the guy.
I always thought that was a gratuitous line for that character to say literally right before he died. Did Dalton think "Oh shit, AIDS! Gotta finish this guy ASAP!"
It's a damn excellent film and is arguably the closest, most loyal and faithful film adaptation of a novel (or any other different narrative medium) that has ever been made.
Seriously, can anyone reading this comment think of a movie adaptation of a narrative from another medium that is more loyal, accurate and faithful to the source material than Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of S.E.Hinton's classic novel?
(Oh, and, of course, Francis Ford Coppola's movie of S.E.Hinton's equally brilliant novel, 'Rumblefish' is also damn excellent.)
Yeah, her agent was worried that the most likely audience for her novel, a novel about young men and two rival gangs of young men, would therefore be young men; but that young men at the time would very likely be immediately turned off from even considering reading it if they knew a young woman had written it -- which, to be fair, was a VERY astute and realistic consideration back then, and, sadly, not exactly all that different today considering today's alpha-male and "woke/anti-woke" cultural nonsense.
Plus, of course, this wasn't exactly a new and original literary ruse to avoid potential audiences negatively pigeonholing fictional works based on an author's gender/sex. e.g. George Sand and George Eliot.
“So, did old lady McGill catch you before or after you put the puck in the net?”
It’s amazing how much it never gets talked about with that cast.
Swayze
Rob Lowe
Keanu Reeves
Ed Lauter
Hot young Cynthia Gibb
NHL stars Steve Thomas and Peter Zezel (RIP)
Movie is a hidden gem in my opinion.
Sadly... Dirty Dancing! I want it to be Red Dawn, Point Break or.Outsiders. But, that cheesy image of him dancing at the end of Dirty Dancing is the first movie I thought of when I see that picture.
"WOLVERINES!!" Red Dawn!!
Let it turn
Let it turn
The first 10 mins still gives me nightmares. My elementary school did as many nuke drills as tornado drills 🤣
Those first ten minutes are the first thing I think of when the movie comes to mind, and it comes to mind these days more than it used to.
I watched it not long after the current Russia invasion of Ukraine, so not too too long ago, and had trouble sleeping for a while.

Agreed that it was perfect for a 13 year old. And honestly, some parts of it still hold up.
Great one!
Point Break
Ya! Depends on the Photo. OP photo is 100% Point Break-in-time. Road House...Ghost eras have their own look.
This is exactly what I thought - this particular makes me think Point Break. Other pictures would probably make me think if something else.
You could arguably go all the way back to the Outsiders in 1983 and chart your entire youth against Swazye's age epochs, and the great films he made!
Being this is him in point break . I'd think point break
Bodhi!!
>Point Break My favorite Patrick Swayze movie!
He was perfectly cast in that role. He looked the part and had that leader charisma where you could believe he was the king of bank-robbing surfers. Not to mention that film has the best foot chase I think I've ever seen.
"You know I can't live in a cage!"
Come on, man! I’m not gonna paddle to New Zealand!”
Psyche, I am gonna paddle to New Zealand.
Yeah I can’t pick a favorite between the two but point break roadhouse.
Utah! Get me two!
Every time we're out and about doing family things I will ask my wife for mints. As soon as she opens the package I say "Utah, get me two."
Dirty Dancing
Nobody puts Baby in the corner!

Goddamnit I clicked on this post specifically to type that quote, hoping no one beat me to it
Yeah, well I used to fuck guys like you prison!
I always thought that was a gratuitous line for that character to say literally right before he died. Did Dalton think "Oh shit, AIDS! Gotta finish this guy ASAP!"
Mine too, but I can't see that word without hearing Peter Griffin say it lol
I suffer from the same ailment. Road House.
i imagine him saying it with no emotion. it’s hilarious . reminds me of when homer was challenging people to duels.
SNL Chippendale's skit with Chris Farley. I know it's not a movie, but it lives in my head rent free forever.
greatest SNL skit ever...never laughed so hard in my life...
Absolutely

He was great. His character was not.
Ghost. Sam Wheat …..
Ditto
I thought I was clever but clearly you are cleverer. Ditto.
Outsiders The cast in that movie was fantastic.
Let’s do it for Johnny!
The casting director for that movie had incredible luck or was extremely good. Too many future stars present for it to be luck.
Darry used to play ball with the Soches.

Did you know SE Hinton was a woman and she wrote the novel when she was 16?
Didn't she use SE because she feared no one would read it they knew it was written by a woman?
Yes that's what her agent recommended.
How will we know?
You won't. I'll let you know.
You're too stupid to have a good time

That may be what you think of, but that pic of him is def from "Point Break". In "Steel Dawn" he had a full beard and was brown haired.
Dirty Dancing, but should have been Point Break based on that picture.
Youngblood.
Nothing like tea with Miss McGill
Yes!! I will always see him as Derek Sutton!!
Yep I was coming here to say this. Dr. Sutton is in.
Youngblood which no one ever talks about
“So, did old lady McGill catch you before or after you put the puck in the net?” It’s amazing how much it never gets talked about with that cast. Swayze Rob Lowe Keanu Reeves Ed Lauter Hot young Cynthia Gibb NHL stars Steve Thomas and Peter Zezel (RIP) Movie is a hidden gem in my opinion.

Peter Griffin saying “Road House”. I often think of the time Family Guy started the show with a dedication that just said “For Patrick”.
