Bro I get bored and wander off to game dodos after 10 minutes and let my boyfriend do it (he likes building, don’t worry). You have the patience of a saint.
Honest to god man don’t be embarrassed be fucking PROUD. Imagine looking back at that and thinking “I made that.”
That’s incredible, and I don’t think the word incredible does it justice.
At first I filled it up with chairs bookcases, even made individual rooms with doors then slowly started leaving them mostly hallow because I was hitting structure limits. After a while I started spreading out my buildings more so the structure limit wouldn’t be reached as easily. Kinda sad I would rather make each individual floor and add hundreds of rooms with doors
Compared to this master builder, my castles are tiny, but really, they have enough space to host my bronto caravan, and at least a pair of most dinos, plus several of whatever line I am currently breeding. Egg farms, poly farms etc. also of course. In built greenhouses, each crafting station several times with the mats close that serve them, etc. Generators with air, and ground access, etc. 7 days not going to cut it. But yah, compared to OP, I am a beginner :)
So one thing I'm curious about and thanks for your input was how much does the actual base (like your little house) matter?
So I found a care package/alien shit and got a bunch of wood spikes and shit so I set up a huge area with spikes around (before I learned how to tame) I've been worried they're going to run into so I'm breaking that down and figuring out a new strategy.
Bases are really important, I think. You have to store your goodies, and dinos somewhere, have to have your crafting stations available, etc. Bases need to be practical for your survival needs, whether they need to also look good, and how big they are, is up to you. :) I still get a kick out of seeing my (pretty huge) castle every time I return to the main base. Was absolutely worth the several weeks I built it.
You will want stone structures eventually, at least. Most real threats break down wood easily. Then, it all depends whether you play pvp or pve, and where you are building. PvE you will want to protect your tamed dinos against predators on land, or in the water, and depending on where you build, and what you have, also from air. So I personally build a fence around a large enough area pretty soon after starting, with a part of it roofed to protect my dodos, etc. against Ichthyo-thieves flying in. Later, when you have Theris and all, they fend off those but I usually keep the roofs anyway.
PvP you will want a tiny base hidden away from preying eyes, building those is a whole different art form.
Still getting used to solo pve but I am growing more curious about the day about playing with others. Thanks for the info going to head back and touch my base up a good bit
Here I am feeling special for the aviary I posted pics of yesterday….. I feel for your sanity after building this but it’s a hell of an accomplishment!
Edit: In thinking about this, if you could save + back up this somehow and then move it to a public server with 1000s of people invited to live there, it could be a really interesting social experiment. How fast would it get trashed? Would people protect it? What would it turn into? Waring factions? Literally I’d watch this shit on a stream for hours haha.
I 100% gathered wood rocks metal ore crystal and chopped down bugs for chitin to make cement paste. Took forever but I did have the multiplier way up, the respawn of materials on and a jet pack to fly around. Otherwise I would have never made this much
Not really if you got a good boss army element is pretty easy to farm up organic poly is cheap and building out of tec isn't very costly once the leg work is done.
Wow i remembered you started with 1 building few months into release, you built way much better building than the human in ark story did, have you seen the garbage designs in gensis 2? I hope they hire you as a designer for their future ark projects.
Thanks so much! I have not seen anything about genesis 2. And I wish I could get paid to design but I’m sure they could just copy my structures from looking at my pics lol
Did you say you actually mined the resources for this???? Was this done on official? So many questions, but still sooooooooo impressed regardless.
This is sick af and jeez, whether it was done in creative or resourced ran from the ground up, the dedication and beauty of it is immaculate. So damn cool. Just, wow.
Sooo many hours of tedious resource mining. What makes me more sad is how long it took me to realize I could change the material respawn rate. There was a glitch where metal ore and crystals would not respawn at all so I spent so much time searching the whole map for metal ore and crystal.
My hats off to you, that is some commitment! All worth it though, it’s stunning! I can’t imagine how many resources this adds up to, good thing you figured out that respawn rate though, this might have been pushed back for quite a while had you not figured it out!
Hahaha that’s actually a big part of Ark too if you think about it, figuring it out haha
I learned a lot pretty late in the game. I used to avoid building at night because I couldn’t see as well and I realized after months you could change the time of day easily. I used to click and drag items one by one for months and realized I could just click and R2 many at once…..
Haha that’s usually how it goes learning to play this game hahhaa, I just learned the F key opens your mounts inventory so you don’t need to get off to feed it…. X_x the amount of times I aggroed things and died… smh
Damn well good for you for making my ADHD brain let out a gleeful screech and made me wanna build a giant glass world dome on this pve map I play on. I normally hate building because I never get ideas, I love farming tho so I'm a great friend of a builder lol.
Had one group I joined on a PvP server send me out with a chainsaw, and several spare ones all at like ascended rank, and orders to fill up specialized tek storage boxes until I got bored. Well they dropped me off far enough that when the fighting popped off back at base nobody found me, like 3 hours later with me sitting with my mic muted one of them remembers I exist.
I like to imagine the looks on their faces when they realized I deforested a big chunk of the redwoods and got enough wood that they pulled me off telling me "this is way more then enough holy shit!" While they were fighting for their lives was rather funny.
I became a fucking army surplus store on another server after making nice with the alpha tribe on that server.
Guys would cut my 2-man in on raid loot if we supplied some of the boom and even gave us a tex fabricator to make us better at our job. We proceeded to farm the mats for a unholy amount of bullets and explosives before doing like we were told and leaving it in a series of metal drop vaults out front our base. We became very good friends with that tribe.
Been following this build from the start. It's where I built my base so it's bizarre to see a whole-ass city there, but man, WHAT a city! You have to name the city now, OP :)
It's a gorgeous build, genuinely one of the most impressive ones I've seen on Ark for sure. Probably top two or three... maybe the best. Damn. Would love to see a video tour through it, even brief!
...So what are you gonna name the city :D
I have a question do you play with friends and if so you should build a flyer race thing where you and you're friends have to race from one side of map to other and yall have to collect notes so yall can be sure someone actually did the corse it was a fun idea I had love the build it's amazing
This is absolutely amazing. A thing I've always wanted since extinction was announced was actual skyscrapers and buildings we could enter and build in. This makes me wanna have a full rp serv now being able to live in apartments and have crazy amazing looking lofts. Throw in jobs like markets and host events through fairs or parades. God it'd be fun imo
I want to know what NASA supercomputer you’re running to not have the game crash trying to load and render everything. My 7900xtx sounds like it’s about to melt just rendering light shafts and fog
Have you built Extinction on the island?
Unintentionally apparently!
Bro just said if I'm going to wait a year for extinction I'll build it myself
And hey, you can actually go inside these buildings
I thought it was Night City...
I was waiting for Johnny Silverhand to say, "wake up survivor, this island won't burn itself down".
WDYM unintentionally !?!
Man, I remember the quote "What is Extinction?" early in the build.
Looks like Atlantis. I can see Rodney McKay in one of the windows.
Your right, I see him on the left holding a zed pm
I thought this was fake, then I opened the image. How many hours did that take? God I can’t imagine even attempting that, nice one.
I’m embarrassed to admit over 500 hours. Most of it was fun, the rest was tedious gathering of resources (multipliers way up at least)
Dont feel shame! The build is dope!
Bro you have way more patience than me, don’t be embarrassed man that is so sick.
Can you post more? Seriously this is one of the most impressive looking player builds in a game. Show us more please
You did this without creative mode? You sadist
I am surprise the overseer haven't decide to nuke you yet. ......what did you do to bribe him?
Bro I get bored and wander off to game dodos after 10 minutes and let my boyfriend do it (he likes building, don’t worry). You have the patience of a saint.
My bf just walks around admiring me like im some lab experiment in the game
Honest to god man don’t be embarrassed be fucking PROUD. Imagine looking back at that and thinking “I made that.” That’s incredible, and I don’t think the word incredible does it justice.
I don't want to be rude but do you have a job?
Tallest structure is 185 floors
What’s inside the buildings? Regardless of the answer, this is crazy impressive
Are you playing on single player?
How tall is each floor, though? I assume 1 or 2 walls high.
I’m counting individual staircase structures form bottom to top
FPS: Extinction
Jesus..... I'm 3 days in to starting this game and this just blows my mind..
My first structure was a 2 story box. Have fun with it!
Having more as 6000 hours on ase , my structures are still 2 story boxes lol. Tetris design. This is awesome mate ! Just wow
Haha so is mine!
I am +2k hours into this game, and this also blows my mind. And I am known for building huge, intricate bases, I mean tiny castles.
That's what I always did on 7 days, can't wait to get better at resourcing so I can have a ton of supplies to build
Compared to this master builder, my castles are tiny, but really, they have enough space to host my bronto caravan, and at least a pair of most dinos, plus several of whatever line I am currently breeding. Cyberpunk city
I wish I could have cyber punk lights that you could see far way
Artifacts
It's still a work of art
Anyone's computer within 100 feet: ![gif](giphy|nrXif9YExO9EI)
Verry stargate atlantis looking thing. But nice

I'd be so down for that
The thing that scares me is people taking it apart for fun!
That’s what the backup would be for, haha. I trust people very little, but maybe (because it’s so awesome) people will ban together to protect it.
Can you make a video it looks amazing
I bet it's hard to make a video at 1 fps
It could be a slide show then xD
I have a couple older posts of fly by videos
I find it pretty funny that this is the first post of the many that you made in this subreddit, that I have actually seen.
Haha I try to refrain from posting too often. Worried people will get bored and tired of seeing the same settlement growing slowly
Guys, Extinction is coming eventually. You don’t need to build it on The Island
Oops!
I’m more impressed with ur PC
I want to be able to check it out makea video doing a good walk thru of fit
Ark Players casually founding new capital cities💀
Holy Sh*t this is an absolute mind blowing project. CONGRATS 🎉🎉🎉 How long did it take you to finish it?
About 500 hours, lot of chopping wood and metal ore…
I thought it was photoshopped, then I took a closer look, that's insane!
It looks that way because of the farther buildings for sure
This is great dude. Out of curiosity, did you gather the materials for this or did you spawn them?
I 100% gathered wood rocks metal ore crystal and chopped down bugs for chitin to make cement paste. Took forever but I did have the multiplier way up, the respawn of materials on and a jet pack to fly around. Otherwise I would have never made this much
Holly shit, i wish I had half of your patience. I love building in ark, but the gather-craft-build cycle can be a pain
I dont think he gathered it, it would take more hours then the Game is out 😂
Not really if you got a good boss army element is pretty easy to farm up organic poly is cheap and building out of tec isn't very costly once the leg work is done.
Right lol even spawning them in this is a massive project

Wow, at first I thought this was the extinction map. Amazing job!!
Where on the island was this built?
On the cliffs overlooking the redwoods and volcano
I never realized it was Manhattan Island until now
A few buildings were inspired by Hudson Yards!
We have the same building desires concrete jungle with tek buildings baby!
Just looks so good! Especially with the trees planted on the buildings
On which floor and which room you are living in NASA? This amazing creation for sure takes TONS of RAM. Damn, I am stoned!
How much time did this take
It took over 500 hours
Now move your city to The Center!!
I wish I could disassemble the buildings and move the structures over but I couldn’t bring anything over when extinction came out :(
That'll do.
When have you last touched grass?
Yesterday I went on a nice walk around the neighborhood
Then how'd you get the time to make that?
Uhhh wow
Bro couldn't wait for extinction so he built extinction at home
That’s not The Island that’s The City
Wow i remembered you started with 1 building few months into release, you built way much better building than the human in ark story did, have you seen the garbage designs in gensis 2? I hope they hire you as a designer for their future ark projects.

Ngl I kinda want to use this as my wallpaper haha it’s so cool
You have my permission!
Thank you mi lord, you have given me a most gracious gift! 🙏🏼
Bro thinks he's Nerva 💀 nah but for real looks insane gj
Imagine logging into a server hearing about this "Big Alpha" and you think to yourself "PSSHH How big could the Alpha be. You login to this... 😂🤣
This is incredible! Amazing builds!!
Wow this is amazing. Kicks the crap out of my super box builds
Welp looks like I’m doing creative on the center this time around
How many hours?
I wish I was creative enough to do builds like this.
Can you move around or are you just frozen in that one spot?
Damn well good for you for making my ADHD brain let out a gleeful screech and made me wanna build a giant glass world dome on this pve map I play on. I normally hate building because I never get ideas, I love farming tho so I'm a great friend of a builder lol. “Oh the 500 hour long mega city in the background? Nah, here, check out this cool bridge I made 🥰🥰🥰”

How many computers did it burn through to render this?
Dude you good? Holy heck that's ah....that's a heck of a city there my dude
Just when I was thinking I had a nice build lol
Dear God...
Honestly, and I mean this with every fiber of my being, I think you need to be committed.
Same
I played since… jeez feels like a decade, never built anything close to that. Never seen any build even remotely like that.
Mcfucking 'scuse me?
Why are you done? You barely have a starter base
Wouldn't that crash whoever comes near that base like city?
I have a question do you play with friends and if so you should build a flyer race thing where you and you're friends have to race from one side of map to other and yall have to collect notes so yall can be sure someone actually did the corse it was a fun idea I had love the build it's amazing

I thought this was the Cities Skylines subreddit at first lol
I think my game just crashed looking at this post Holy shit though, that is HELLA impressive!
For a quick second, I thought this was cyberpunk before reading the title

BRO WHAT?!
Dude saw the Island and said 'i can find a way to industrialise this place'
Bro that’s awesome! I could never imagine this being stable tho. It’s a shame. So pretty. Maybe 1 day this will be practical. :/
Yeah uh.. I wanna rent an apartment there. Any issues I should know prior to this?
Is this real
Blud built new ninjago and borg tower 😭
Welcome to 2fps land
woah.. can't say i've seen anything quite like this LMAO
No, no... we need more...
How do i know when I'm near your base bro? when your pc becomes a bonfire from dark souls.
Looks just like Fortnite
Holy shit 💯💯💯 amazing
Bro built metropolis then left
You think? What a funny joke
Go play a different game lol
Video tour pls
What mod is this?
Tek Jet pack, ceiling foundation, and a lot of stuff messed around with in the settings
I meant for the actual buildings? Or is this AsA and that’s why it looks different
It’s ASA. Everything is built from wood/stone/metal/greenhouse walls
