AITA For being upset for not getting the Captain position for the dance team?
I (F16) am going to senior year next year and I was in my school's dance team for 2 years. I was the only junior in the team who helped out my members and performed with expression and effort. I've always tried to cheer up my dance team members by making them laugh and probably making a joke out of myself. Fast foward to Last night there was a banquet for the dance team where we would bring food and be together one last time as the 23-24 team. This night was also the time we get to find out who's captain for the next year. Near the end of the year me and the captains had a rough argument over my toe. (I got surgery on my toe) and it ended up with me performing with an injured toe even though the doctors told me it's not recommended that I dance. I didn't mind much of it. When it came to the time they announced the captains and co-captains my heart was pounding because I worked so hard to get the position. They annouced three other people who only been there for this year's team. (They are good dancers and I'm not wanting to bash them.) I felt my heart drop as I felt like I spent 2 years of my life and my efforts gone to waste. I love the dance team don't get me wrong but I also joined to I could one day attempt to be the dance captain/co-captain and help out a team of my own. I ended up leaving after they announced the captains and took pictures. I ended up sobbing afterwards when me and my boyfriend arrived to his car. I kept thinking what would I have done wrong like if I was too enthusiastic or maybe don't think I would be taken seriously or maybe I don't look the part. Including most of the team thought I would get it but the captains said other wise. I feel entitled and I feel like a brat for expecting that I would get it. What should I do? Am I the asshole for expecting to get the captain position?
(I forgot to mention the two old captains are best friends.)

You assumed you would get the position based on seniority. The other's didn't think you deserved that position. It could be any number of reasons. Maybe you joke around TOO much, and they don't feel like you take this seriously. You can feel bad for not getting the position,that part would make you NTA, but if you pout, argue, or complain, that would make Y-T-A. They also suck for pressuring you into dancing with an injury, but we're not here to judge them, just you.
