It's one of those songs that was so ahead of it's time in production, structure, and using a bass/percussion based instrumental in a dreamy way that most people would assume it was recorded in 1982 rather than 1962
It really is amazing as a piece of music because it's almost like proto-synthpop before synthesizers were really even a thing outside of early experimental machines
Does part of a song count?
The opening to Under Pressure, the first two measures. In that moment, it is almost Schrodinger's Song. You have to wait that extra moment to either have good memories or bad memories. The chances of hating one song is reasonable but the chances of hating both songs? You have two measures of "Ah yeah!" and then....elation or sadness
But for those two measures, I would say that yeah, everyone is on the same page
Same goes for Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon and All Summer Long by Kid Rock. If you’re in the mood for some beef chow mein, you might not want to hear about summertime in Detroit.

Ooph, that would be heartbreaking to hear Kid Rock start singing
No you see, theirs goes "du du du dudu du dut; du du du dudu du dut. du du du dudu du dut..." and ours goes "du du du dudu du dut; du du du dudu du dut; *du* du du du dudu du dut..." it's completely different
This is my go to song in ketamine therapy and when I tell you I’ve been in the middle of New York City at Christmas time with Louis himself singing this to me … it’s my own private concert
I dislike this song, but I also live in Hawaii and this song has been so overplayed in touristy areas.
I know people who also dislike this song and it’s because they don’t appreciate him changing the lyrics and are fans of the original.
All this said, I acknowledge this is a very popular song and I don’t dislike Braddah Iz’s music as a whole.
He definitely is, and for good reason. He has several other very popular songs you’ll hear here. It’s also not *his fault* that some tourists have associated *Somewhere Over the Rainbow* with Hawaii and the ukulele.
Most people here I imagine have positive attitudes toward that song. I just know several that don’t, myself included.
Edit: I also don’t speak for everyone here, so maybe I’m wrong because I’m just going off anecdotal evidence.
Look into my eyes and it's easy to see
One and one make two
Two and one make three
It was destiny
Once every hundred thousand years or so
When the sun doth shine
And the moon doth glow
And the grass doth grooOOOOWWW
He never performed it live. He died a couple of days after laying down the vocal tracks in the studio.

In addition to this, the whistling at the end of the song was a place saver for what was suppose to be lyrics. He died before he finished the song. They left the whistling in it.
The SNL skit is funny, but I kinda wish this song never became a meme, because it's genuinely so good but you can't ever talk about it without getting 50 replies about the damn cowbell.
I cannot imagine why ANYONE would hate these songs:
-Don’t Dream it’s Over by Crowded House
-Just the Two of Us by Grover Washington
-Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight & The Pips
Mr. Brightside not that it is a great song lyrically or anything, but name one time that song comes on and the entire place doesn’t start belting it out.
Just the drum break and pick up tho. It's really a long build that I actually would not like if I didn't know it was coming. "But I remember, don't worry!"
Last summer a motorcycle rode by my house while I was outside doing some work BLASTING that song perfectly just as the drum break came on. I lost my fucking shit and got down so hard. As things settled down, my neighbor across the street saw the whole thing and has the biggest fucking smile as I turned bright red. Good times.
Sugar Pie Honeybunch by the Four Tops.
I feel like there are a ton of Motown songs that can fit in here. I’m not sure I know anyone that doesn’t like, to some extent, Motown. It’s the peak of Pop Music.
See, personal experiences can skew this answer. I used to like the Beatles and especially this song. Until 20 years ago a radio station was changing formats and name to sunny somrthing, and they played this song on repeat for like 3 days. So I listened until it ended. But now I despise this done. Is it my fault. Yes. Do I still hate the song? Yes.
This can be said by someone for probably any piece of music imaginable. In that case, it would likely be impossible to name any song that literally everyone can agree with.
I would also argue that there's a difference between personally liking a song and agreeing it's a great song. There are songs out there that I recognize as great, but which I don't particularly care to listen to.
I would say it’s the most misunderstood song. A song about sexual ecstasy that is sung at some of the most inappropriate places by some of the most inappropriate people. I’ve heard it at funerals and heard it sung by a mother/son duo ( it wasn’t at Motherboy XXX either, so completely inappropriate)
I not really much of a fan of rap/hip-hop. Mainly a rocker/metal-head.
I can put this song on at anytime, and really get a charge out of it. It's such a strong piece of music.
Oh, great, now I've gotta go listen to it again.
Symphony No. 9. Aka Ode to Joy by LVB
It's weird seeing Beethoven's name abbreviated like that. Makes him sound like a member of the Wu-Tang Clan or something.
I read it as Luth Vader Binsberg
Nintendo Wii home screen background music.
This and the Kahoot Theme
Duhh boop-boop, duhhhh boop-boop, duhhhh boop-boop da-ba-dut-dut. . .
I think you might mean the Wii Shop theme? The Home Screen theme isn’t too special, really. But the Wii Store song slaps.
Nah. Wii Sports one is the real banger
That’s my ringtone!
You'll never get everyone to agree on something like this.
I challenge that theory! Mr blue sky
Brilliant tune.... Took me way too many years to appreciate it
I would agree but it is used in a lottery tv ad that is so overplayed that I now hate the song
I dunno, Bohemian Rhapsody might actually take this one.
Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the very few songs I cannot stand. Super annoying. Sorry man
Not a bad song but I definitely think it’s overrated. I like Don’t Stop Me Now a lot better
I found it overly cluttered, random, thematically a patchworky mess, and gratuitously long
I hate that song so bad
Same
Words can’t express how much I hate hearing that song. Especially in public.
Earth, Wind & Fire - September
Proud to say that songs my birthday and damn do I enjoy it every time it comes on
I'm a September baby myself. Unfortunately, my birthday is associated with a terrorist and a rich piece of shit (no connection between the two.)
This is every pet bird's favorite song. Mine loves it! You've got the parrot vote locked down.
I don't remember that one?
Come on, it was the on the 21st night. How could you forget
of september?
Yes. Love was changin' the minds of pretenders.
You were dancing the night awaaaay.
Our hearts were ringin' in the key that our souls were singin'.
'As we danced in the night, remember How the stars stole the night away, oh, yeah'
BAAHH-DEE-DOO BAAHH-DEE-DOO BAH-DE-DO BAH-DEE Also... r/redditsings
I use to play it on my way to work every day to pick my mood up. Such a good jam.
Clair de lune - debussy
DeBussy. I *love* DeBussy. Sometimes, all I can think about is DeBussy.
Make sure to finish on DeBach. Never on DeBussy
My favorite classical piece
Never finish on debussy. Always finish on Bach.
Ain’t no sunshine - Bill Withers
Stand By Me - Ben E. King

this one might actually be true, the rest are all just Queen songs

Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World

If you are referring to the Gershwin masterpiece I'll upvote, been a favourite since childhood (my Dad had a Porgy and Bess LP). Probably non PC now.
That song reminds me of a rather unpleasant experience I’ve had, effectively giving me a panic attack any time I hear it.
Well, he hated it.
This is my go to song in ketamine therapy and when I tell you I’ve been in the middle of New York City at Christmas time with Louis himself singing this to me … it’s my own private concert

“Sitting on the dock of the bay”
I think this song might actually be perfect, if such a thing is possible. Wonder what it was like to hear Otis play it live.
He never performed it live. He died a couple of days after laying down the vocal tracks in the studio. Steven King's the stand in the opening few minutes set that song in my head permanently...masterful use of it in my opinion..
The SNL skit is funny, but I kinda wish this song never became a meme, because it's genuinely so good but you can't ever talk about it without getting 50 replies about the damn cowbell.
But it needs more cowbell.
I cannot imagine why ANYONE would hate these songs: -Don’t Dream it’s Over by Crowded House -Just the Two of Us by Grover Washington -Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight & The Pips
