If you want a little money on the side as a one off can work at the polling booths on Federal election day. I recall its just under $500 gross BUT its a bloody long day - 8am to 11pm.
More details on the AEC website.
I thought about doing this, will be getting my Aussie nationality soon - figured it would be nice to see the democratic process of my adopted country up close.
Are you on the step of waiting for the citizenship ceremony? I passed my citizenship test and was approved last year, but it's been nearly 10 months and I'm still waiting for the ceremony invite. I'm hoping I actually get it done before the election - it would be so annoying to just miss out on this election.
Is the delay because there are a lot of citizens-in-waiting in your area? I’m hopeful that living in a small shire in the country will mean I can get to my ceremony faster when the time comes!
I’m in SE Queensland and it seems things moving slowly here on all levels of government. Expect it won’t be too soon then (for example still waiting for my last quarantine invoice, NSW health sends it out the night after, QLD took 6 months for the first one and now 8 months and counting and then complains when people don’t pay up straight away).
Oh no, that sounds bad… just moved to the next stage of processing, got told all the paperwork was finally OK. I put the application in about a 18 months ago so figured it would be done soon (I needed to get dispensation for the ‘days in country’ requirement as I work in international shipping, that took some time and correspondence).
Hadn’t realised there’s such a long wait between approval and the ceremony.
Looks like it’ll be the next federal election then.
Processing times are published [here](https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/citizenship-processing-times). Have you completed the citizenship test yet? Luckily I got mine done between lockdowns last year, but it's a nervous wait now, even though I know I was already accepted and it's just the final formality remaining.
I think there are many things that could be improved in our democracy, but the democracy sausage is something all countries should emulate (or whatever their local equivalent snack food is). Nobody should be hungry in the voting line.
Nice one, need to learn some python. Where do you look for contracts, somewhere like [https://www.upwork.com/freelance-jobs/](https://www.upwork.com/freelance-jobs/)
About 8500. About a year and a half of no earning before I started earning some money and then another 6 months before I hit the level of $1k a month. Since then it has been steady slowly rising for about a year. My audience is mainly first world young women which means my rpm ($ per 1000) is quite alot higher than say a gaming channel.
Nice. Congrats on your success mate and thanks for your answer. One more question: How'd you go about finding your niche? Was it a specific subject you already knew a lot about or did you figure it out some other way?
It took a few changes in types of video and different text to speech voices before i found the one that seems to work, my wife actually watched similar videos which is where I got the final idea and put some twists on it.
Funny thing, I developed a web app in the past where you could add texts and images and it will output a video with all these texts converted into speeches overlay on the images. Unfortunately I couldn’t market it at the end
Wedding and events singer on weekends. A 3hr wedding gig is around $400 (pre ceremony, ceremony, canapés). Sometimes we’ll do a longer gig for more $. I also teach some private singing lessons after school hours. I charge $60 for 45min and $80 an hour with roughly six to eight students a week.
I work with an agency so I assume they’re charging around that and then paying my guitarist and myself $400 each. That’s for a 3hr gig which includes the ceremony. My guitarist and I are branching out to do our own thing so hopefully we can charge more. In saying that, charging $1000 for a 3hr gig definitely limits clientele.
If it’s as a duo then it’s a little different but the agency would be making a killing. They’re probably charging around $1500 for that. You and your guitarist should each be making $200/h each with an agency and at least $250-300/h without.
I wouldn’t get any work if my guitarist and I were charging $200 - $300 an hour each… In theory that sounds great, but I’ve been turned away multiple times for quoting wineries, bars, weddings etc $100 an hour. I agree that this is a great rate to charge considering the additional work/ setting up/ travelling etc we do, but yeah, doesn’t seem realistic here in Adelaide!
$200 an hour?
time to bust out my guitar, why am I working 40 hours a week if I can bang out some tunes on my guitar for the same money in a few hours.
Usually on Friday and Saturday nights, dealing with drunk guests, time required to bump in and set up, and you won’t get an 8 hour shift. But obviously a lot of pros too.
for 200 an hour I'll do midnight on a public holiday in a methadone clinic.
I used to get 20-30 an hour including set up though, but that was years ago, anything over $40 an hour would be heaps.
Some people just like to work.
The going rate means you're not better then anyone else.
Maybe you get $1000, maybe you don't. But $400 means you will be chosen over the $1000 regular guys every single time.
Why for a wedding should it be that my higher?
People are shopping around more now, and places that are just ripping people off for weddings are going out of business. Obviously high end ones will always remain as the socialites will still need their services, but a lot of the mid level businesses are shutting down as consumers get smarter about their purchases and shop around more. Especially with how easy it is with the internet.
I work in the industry and I’m letting someone know that they’re well below industry rates. The market has priced musicians this way and it is what it is. After two years of no work while the industry has been decimated, are you really going to try and tell me they should get paid peanuts?
peanuts? No
but $200+ an hour? hahaha no way.
Happy for you to charge what you like, and I'm sure you do very well but I am just saying that people are shopping around and simply wont pay that anymore. The wedding tax is disgusting and most people have learned to avoid places that are jacking up the price because it's a wedding. 2 hours is 2 hours, 4 hours is 4 hours, if its a party, function, event, dinner, picnic the hours don't change and unless the effort required changes the price should remain the same.
Lots of other industries have had no work too, and some of those people want to get married but people are trying to send them broke with wedding tax.
I hope you do very well with your business, I genuinely do, I wish everyone prosperity in their endeavors but I don't know too many people who would pay $200+ per hour per person for music at a wedding, when the same people could be hired to play a pub for $50 per person per hour.
It was the norm, it is going away. But don't trust me on it just wait for the flow on effects.
And like I said earlier, some people will always pay top dollar, the majority is learning not to.
$200 an hour is insane. Then multiply that out to multiple people, even worse.
Edit: to put it in perspective I planned my wedding, it was admittedly a very modest wedding, but it came to $8900. I then planed a party on the same day with the same vendors and exactly the same everything but for a "party" it came out just under $2k. I damn well had a party that day, and happened to get married during it.
Ok. Well when you don't have customers and are wondering what it is, have a look to see what other people are charging.
I hope this never happens, but if it does just have a look. People are sick of being ripped off. A wedding is literally just a party, why should it be 2,3,4,5 times more for the exact same thing.
You’re not factoring in the set up time, learning and practicing song requests, the cost of all the gear you have to buy, giving up your weekend time to do the gigs, the large responsibility of being front and centre through the event etc.
I've just always done it. I've been writing stories since I was 10, when my mum brought home a typewriter. Before that, I'd be making up stories with my toys. It's just what I do I guess haha
The barriers to publishing are non-existent these days. Anyone with time and a word processor can publish a book on Kindle Direct Publishing. Writing good books though... That takes time and talent.
Plus, investing in good cover art, design, editing etc all adds up. Plus there's Kickstarter, Royal Road, Patreon, Audiobooks etc. Lots of tools you can use to diversify income streams in the publishing industry.
I was actually just putting my tax stuff together today and this year I've made $9k with a $5k spend. Can't quit the day job yet, but it's all cumulative. Every year is better than the last.
I’ve been a DJ for 20 years. I mostly do just Saturdays these days, but used to do 3-4 nights per week. As to how much I make, well, let’s say it makes up approx 20% of my income. All of it is taxable. Covid was a blessing and a curse. Finally got to stay home and watch a few films with the wife, but the lost income was annoying.
I mark uni papers. $50 plus super an hour.
My friend helps coach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. $50/hr for teaching group classes and $80/hr for teaching a 1 hour private lesson.
Lecturers are almost always looking for markers, email lecturers directly and ask if they are taking classes and if you can mark for them. Usually need some related background education though
I did this when I was at uni. It’s all cash so you can also get Aus study (if that’s what it’s still called).
Target wealthier families and go to their house, they will pay more for the convenience
Personally it's either through mutual / family friends and their kids or word of mouth.
If that's not an option there plenty of agencies like Australian tutoring company (I think that's what it's called) where you can advertise yourself and your skills on a marketplace.
Friends of mine have had success finding students like this, but agencies do take a cut of the fees - which is why I left mine
I sell materials related to a hobby of mine, to other hobbyists.
It pays pretty well, but it doesn’t beat my day job (yet) so I won’t be resigning any time soon. I pull about $250k/year in revenue, which is about $100k gross profit so maybe $40-50k net profit.
Once I can get it up to $150k+ in net profit I will either quit the day job or sell the biz.
When I was in highschool I wanted to build a website for musicians to share their music. I got a quote from a web developer for $30k so decided to learn how to make it myself. Then I built a few apps whilst at uni. I really think the best way to learn is through building projects and using Google lots
Interschool junior umpiring. Earn up to $130 for knowing basic rules of a 1 hour game between low skill level students. I get called up maybe once or twice a week cause they're really low on staff and so they offer me a higher price.
I did this from 2014- mid 2019. Netted around 250k over the journey. Did sign up bonuses/deposit matches, every boosted odd available across 40ish accounts. I transitioned to EV horse betting picking up bookie odds mistakes.
I've stopped now, the bookies are too quick now to adjust (imo) and It isn't worth the time anymore, at least to me. 10 EV bets became maybe 1 a day.
Howd you go with your accounts being banned? Had a mate try this. He did pretty decently but his accounts kept getting banned so he gave it up after a few years
Early years it wasn't so bad. Got way way worse towards the end. But whole dollar betting on hedges might lose a tiny bit of value but the account being alive is more valuable haha. Adding in random punts throughout the account, even on games where you have utilised the boosted. Like a first goal scorer market. Punting on their profitable markets to incentivise to keep it open.
I would set up the account but not instantly flog it either, get bonuses, place small bets on all AFL/NRL. Then it was go time.
I did have a friend who I discussed with that worked as a product manager at one of the bookies who kept me in the loop for internal communications as well.
My background is accounting and finance so I was kinda drawn to it. Finding a arbitrage where you make risk free money? By doing a few clicks in a website? Is crack to me and spiralled from there.
I had very detailed accounting records to ensure it was profitable and would analyse past performance to see where I should be focusing.
The EV horse betting was the most profitable but needed deep af pockets to make it work. I remember losing 60 bets in a row with no hedge 😭 was brutal. The system was for example taking $51 odds horse (bookie mistake) and it would close at $11, massive EV. But as EV works hit 4 in short succession after that and was in the green.
As I said before I stopped because the bookies are too quick now. Very hard to find an edge in the market. The promos are terrible by design now.
Help people apply for jobs in a specialised field. Started in June last year and hit $10k in January. It’s slowed down now though so not viable as a long term full income option with my current set up and approach. Works out to about $100-$150 an hour depending on how prepared the client is at the start.
Its a slog, work within a few niches of a niches type fields and do ok after a fair bit of background grinding
Having a sales background certianly helps sell myself, probably created more work for myself than filled exisiting roles/took business from somone else
What are you looking into doing?
Usability testing, functional testing and focus groups - all online
Brings in about 100-150 a week but is dependent on the rate at which you qualify for tests
Thanks - I'm going to look into it.
I'm always happy to earn a bit more cash here and there but I already work more than a full time job so I can't really take on more the way others have in the thread.
US options / share trading. Started off with my first trade in Dec 2020 netting 300% profit in 2 days on SOLO calls, and was hooked from there (and tried to be less idiotic from there as well).
It's been a bit of adjusting to the wild market this year but I'm up half my yearly wage since Jan.
One of my favourite regular plays: When the market crashes a bit, you just sell VIX calls with 30 days expiry and wait a few days, close them off, rinse and repeat next crash. Ties up $30-40k in collateral to make $5k+ in like 1 week, depending on how you do it and how quickly the volatility drops off. You can do it with less of course, I think minimum would be something like $7k to maybe make $3-500.
And a whole lot of other charting based trades on individual stock options, with the occasional YOLO. Trying not to blow myself up with futures now that I've discovered those. The options on commodity futures are awesome for when you see commodity prices about to blow and don't want to just trade 1 company that barely moves compared to the future price. I made about 100% on crude oil options in 36 hours last week.
Note: I dabbled in the ASX for over 10 years but covid money printing really made it easy. I've been humbled many times but always managed to adapt and bounce back..
I write VBA/Python scripts for data processing. Not much money it through certain platforms as your competing with others internationally. However, it’s fun and interesting manoeuvring different data sets.
Freelance artist. Not huge money but if I'm active on social media I can I get 2-3 commissions per month charging about $150 USD each. It can be quite time consuming though, however I find the work enjoyable.
Not mine, but I know folks doing this - background extra work for tv commercials. Pays $36.12ph base, more for nights or weekends. Best suited to people with flexible schedules, as you get more work if you’re more available. It’s ridiculously easy, lots of downtime, and catered if you work through a meal time.
If you’re lucky and wind up ‘featured’ (i.e. your face is recognisable in the ad), you get an upgrade fee, usually $1-1.5k, sometimes more. If you’re really lucky that ad might get reused and you get the same fee again for doing absolutely bugger all.
Sports betting. Can easily make 10-20k a year tax free using signup bonuses and other promotions but becomes a bit more difficult once the bookies start restricting your accounts
Yeah I would also love to know how he’s kept it going - I managed to milk about $10k from all the bookies over about two years before eventually being completely limited by pretty much all of them.
Unless he’s using multiple accounts from friends/family or something.
/u/sultanofswag420 ..?
Most platforms will have promotions such as boosted odds on a certain match which you can use to get an edge over the bookie. But it's important to only make these bets when you know you have a positive expected value
Exactly mate, betfair is a great tool to use to get an idea of what the 'fair value' of the odds should be.
Once you find some good promos you can get a profitable process going
Definitely a good idea to do your research first as you don't want to start betting unless you're sure you have an edge
Having a bit of a google won't hurt but some resources I would recommend are Oddsjam on YouTube and Bonusbank
Well that’s called “professional gambling” and you do need to pay tax on it. So if you have been making 10k to 20k a year from this the tax man will be all over it.
Nope, betting winnings aren't taxed in Australia. To be classified as a professional gambler you need to have business connections with the gambling industry
Yeah. It's one thing if you're Zeljko, but so long as you're not getting to the point of employing people or making millions it's unlikely to actually get done with tax.
>betting winnings aren't taxed in Australia. To be classified as a professional gambler you need to have business connections with the gambling industry
You just need to be making a consistent profit over a time period to be considered a professional gambler.. nothing to do with running a business
Look at the past court cases and read the summary
https://waterhousetaxlawyers.com.au/tax-advice/are-gambling-wins-taxable/
Matched betting definitely falls into this category, you are not gambling at all with matched betting, their is 100% certainty of profit. - it is carried out in a business like manner
All three cases were found to be not taxable. First case is the closest to what we're talking about and they were considered not taxable due to not employing anyone or having an office.
ATO has a precise definition around what is a “professional gambler”. You can make 10x that and literally go to the ATO and say “I want to pay tax” and they will tell you to go away.
Not currently operating but all we need to go live is the inspection which is delayed due to brisy being under water. Had a spare room. Have some artists mates. starting up a boutique stick and poke tattoo studio
That's really interesting, I went through a phase where I was into watches quite a bit so I know a little. I recently sold a Seiko Sarb033 for double what I bought it for on ebay.
What sorts of watches do you sell?
I bought a watch I really wanted for myself, that I had saved up for for ages. A few months later I looked at what could sell it for and there was an arbitrage opportunity so just grew from there!
Its about finding trends and getting infront of them before the sheep get there.
Same thing with shoes.
Its the next step up from the sneaker game pretty much.
House 3x2.5
Couple of mins walk to the beach. Self managed with a cleaner who has a lot of availability.
Fingers crossed can be a way out of the daily grind.
Western Australia, South West. There's some new legislation proposed which may cap the nights you can let out, or the number of properties, and or, the location of properties. So there is an element of sovereign risk.
My thoughts.
Pick an area which had a high proportion of holiday homes.
Register with the local council as short term accommodation provided.
Have explicit rules about tenants behaviour and consequences, ie eviction.
Know your neighbours. Share your contact details.
Pick a property which can be lock and leave.
Think about supplying what you would want to go on holiday and not have to bring the kitchen sink.
Target families and older couples. Vet your tenants reviews and speak to them about their intentions.
Try and decorate and furnish a week as you can. Supply quality linens.
Leave a gift... We provide a bottle of wine and chocolate.
Look at nearby Airbnb properties. Use their listings to help with your.
Price Match against other local providers, such as hotels and caravan Parks. Try and provide better value.
Have a reliable cleaner who maybe specialises in short term rentals.
We have a 3 night stay minimum to spread out costs.
Think about your communication with tenants. Be available and helpful. Use Airbnb auto messaging to make the simple things easier...
There probably more to it and I'm only just starting out, but I think that is been a great exercise and hopefully provide passive income for us well into the future.
Hope that helps.
My side hustle is doing the things I enjoy that also improve my house. My full time job can suck.often on it's own so any additional productivity I have is going to be something I enjoy doing. Pays in a lot of debt hahaha.
I work on peoples resumes. It’s tiring and I only accept certain industries so I probably only do about 1-2 a month now. Problem is now everyone that knows a little word thinks that all resume work is and they charge very little. I charge about $100-$300 per resume. If it’s just a bit of a review I do that for $50 to help someone out.
I’ve been in corporate HR and project management across multiple industries and cities (NYC, Sydney and Melbourne) so I have the experience. I actually undercharge but it’s more that I like to help out.

Yo congrats! Hopefully you get to enjoy the greatest part of our democratic process this year, the all fabled democracy sausage
I think there are many things that could be improved in our democracy, but the democracy sausage is something all countries should emulate (or whatever their local equivalent snack food is). Nobody should be hungry in the voting line.
Sidenote, make sure they get your super information, otherwise AusSuper will make a real mess of it plus charge you backdated admin fees
Text to speech youtube channels. 2-4k a month.
Do you record the audio for them yourself or just use applications?
All python scripts.
Nice one, need to learn some python. Where do you look for contracts, somewhere like [https://www.upwork.com/freelance-jobs/](https://www.upwork.com/freelance-jobs/)
I don't create for others, I have two channels I upload to myself. It's more like automatic youtube channels.
Your own content? Or TTS of existing content?
Existing. Type reddit into youtube and you'll get an example of similar but different videos. My niche is a bit different than those however.
How many subscribers do you have and how long did it take you to reach that level?
About 8500. About a year and a half of no earning before I started earning some money and then another 6 months before I hit the level of $1k a month. That’s cool ! How did you get started ?
I've just always done it. I've been writing stories since I was 10, when my mum brought home a typewriter. Before that, I'd be making up stories with my toys. It's just what I do I guess haha

I was actually just putting my tax stuff together today and this year I've made $9k with a $5k spend. Can't quit the day job yet, but it's all cumulative. Every year is better than the last.
Wow thats exciting ! Thank you for that information, I had no idea :-)
Monthly post from the ATO, nice try plebs
Btw my side hustle is ensuring my taxes are accurate and appropriately documented
Having a side hustle doesn't mean you're not declaring the income.
Oh sweet, that's definitely something a bit different. And if you've been doing it for 20 years it sounds like you enjoy it too
Good fun, social, somewhat “artistic” and I always treated the cash as a bonus.
Quoting the income as a percentage of an unknown amount is entirely useless information
Right? Could be making 20k from DJing, could be making 5k, who knows
I mark uni papers. $50 plus super an hour. My friend helps coach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. $50/hr for teaching group classes and $80/hr for teaching a 1 hour private lesson.
How did you get involved in marking uni papers?
Lecturers are almost always looking for markers, email lecturers directly and ask if they are taking classes and if you can mark for them. Usually need some related background education though
good friends with the lecturer :)
Private tutoring: pay is good and it's rewarding work. If you got an atar over 95 you can get into it easy
I did this when I was at uni. It’s all cash so you can also get Aus study (if that’s what it’s still called). Target wealthier families and go to their house, they will pay more for the convenience
Then hire all your family members to work for said wealthy family as a chauffeur, art tutor and housekeeper through recommendations.
It's all gravy until their maid catches onto your shenanigans.
This sounds like parasite
Where do you find students?
Personally it's either through mutual / family friends and their kids or word of mouth. If that's not an option there plenty of agencies like Australian tutoring company (I think that's what it's called) where you can advertise yourself and your skills on a marketplace. Friends of mine have had success finding students like this, but agencies do take a cut of the fees - which is why I left mine
Ah right thanks, I'll try to find something to pay for uni fees and rent haha
I sell materials related to a hobby of mine, to other hobbyists. It pays pretty well, but it doesn’t beat my day job (yet) so I won’t be resigning any time soon. I pull about $250k/year in revenue, which is about $100k gross profit so maybe $40-50k net profit. Once I can get it up to $150k+ in net profit I will either quit the day job or sell the biz.
Are you able to let us know which industry?
I run a few web apps for insurance related businesses. Income is around $4k a month. About 1.5k net
Did you create those apps?
Yeah I did, I made it for my main business which is in the insurance industry. Then I just tweak it a bit to fit the other businesses.
How did you find the clients when you first started?
In my main business I go to a lot of industry functions / events and will get approached by other businesses there
Great! I have a couple of questions. Is it ok if I DM you?
Yeah, no worries

When I was in highschool I wanted to build a website for musicians to share their music. I got a quote from a web developer for $30k so decided to learn how to make it myself. Then I built a few apps whilst at uni. I really think the best way to learn is through building projects and using Google lots
Interschool junior umpiring. Earn up to $130 for knowing basic rules of a 1 hour game between low skill level students. I get called up maybe once or twice a week cause they're really low on staff and so they offer me a higher price.
Is. This for tennis or cricket? :o
Softball, so I guess a more niche sport
Bruh that was like 15 years ago
How do you even get into this ? The researching and what to look for?
Selling stock tips written on my feet on OnlyFans
Ecommerce travel related site.
Help people apply for jobs in a specialised field. Started in June last year and hit $10k in January. It’s slowed down now though so not viable as a long term full income option with my current set up and approach. Works out to about $100-$150 an hour depending on how prepared the client is at the start.
Drone owner/operator
How much can you make with that? I was looking into this but haven't seen many things about it
Its a slog, work within a few niches of a niches type fields and do ok after a fair bit of background grinding Having a sales background certianly helps sell myself, probably created more work for myself than filled exisiting roles/took business from somone else What are you looking into doing?
Usability testing, functional testing and focus groups - all online Brings in about 100-150 a week but is dependent on the rate at which you qualify for tests
Which crowdtesting and focus group sites do you use?
[https://www.usertesting.com](https://www.usertesting.com) [https://www.testmate.com.au](https://www.testmate.com.au) [https://www.utest.com](https://www.utest.com) [https://www.askable.com](https://www.askable.com) [https://www.stableresearch.com.au/](https://www.stableresearch.com.au/)
Brilliant, I'll give these a go. Thanks.
How many hours work does the $100 represent?
Depends on the test, some only take 5 min others longer But on average about $13 per 10min
Thanks - I'm going to look into it. I'm always happy to earn a bit more cash here and there but I already work more than a full time job so I can't really take on more the way others have in the thread.
Yeah definitely look into it I did one this morning on a feature one of the food delivery services is testing Took 5min and paid $13
Do you use IB?
Probably either that or TastyTrade. Two most economical brokers in Aus for US options.
What platforms / brokers do you use?
Working on my rostered days off.

How do you find the groups?
I write VBA/Python scripts for data processing. Not much money it through certain platforms as your competing with others internationally. However, it’s fun and interesting manoeuvring different data sets.
freelancer.com, there may be other requests that you may be able to fulfil!
Cool! Is there a website or something for this?
I give BJs to blokes
What's your $ per suck
Depends on the bloke. Usually if they have a big johnson i charge a bit more
Fair enougu
Some cash in hand jobs helping out bars and restaurants. Pays my bills and rent so pretty much save my whole salary.
I’ve heard there’s some cash in hand jobs, yeah
Def worth it if you get in with a good place with good tips. Not worth it as a second job with the amount of tax if it’s on the books….
Sports betting. Can easily make 10-20k a year tax free using signup bonuses and other promotions but becomes a bit more difficult once the bookies start restricting your accounts
[удалено]
Yeah I would also love to know how he’s kept it going - I managed to milk about $10k from all the bookies over about two years before eventually being completely limited by pretty much all of them. Unless he’s using multiple accounts from friends/family or something. /u/sultanofswag420 ..?
Hey do get ongoing bonuses? I only get them during sign ups… and that’s about it
Most platforms will have promotions such as boosted odds on a certain match which you can use to get an edge over the bookie. But it's important to only make these bets when you know you have a positive expected value
Ah so you mean like the odds are higher with the bookie (w/ boosted odds) compared to the lay odds at betfair?
Exactly mate, betfair is a great tool to use to get an idea of what the 'fair value' of the odds should be. Once you find some good promos you can get a profitable process going
Thanks for the tip, I’ve mainly focused on deposit bonuses as I dont have much time nowadays. Will check this out 👌
How’d you get into it/find more info? Should I trust the first results on Google lmao
Definitely a good idea to do your research first as you don't want to start betting unless you're sure you have an edge Having a bit of a google won't hurt but some resources I would recommend are Oddsjam on YouTube and Bonusbank
Well that’s called “professional gambling” and you do need to pay tax on it. So if you have been making 10k to 20k a year from this the tax man will be all over it.
Nah don't think so. If you pay tax on the earnings, then on the flip side, you should be able to deduct the losses as expenses. ATO would go broke
To be classified as a professional gambler you need to have business connections with the gambling industry You just need to be making a consistent profit over a time period to be considered a professional gambler.. nothing to do with running a business
Where did you get that info from?
Look at the past court cases and read the summary https://waterhousetaxlawyers.com.au/tax-advice/are-gambling-wins-taxable/ Matched betting definitely falls into this category, you are not gambling at all with matched betting, their is 100% certainty of profit. - it is carried out in a business like manner
All three cases were found to be not taxable. First case is the closest to what we're talking about and they were considered not taxable due to not employing anyone or having an office.
To my knowledge no-one has been successfully pursued by the ATO for gambling income. They've lost or withdrawn the cases at court.
ATO has a precise definition around what is a “professional gambler”. You can make 10x that and literally go to the ATO and say “I want to pay tax” and they will tell you to go away.
Hi can I DM you to know more about it?
Not currently operating but all we need to go live is the inspection which is delayed due to brisy being under water. Had a spare room. Have some artists mates. starting up a boutique stick and poke tattoo studio
Soccer referee, $30-$210(the highest I ever got) for a 90 minutes game depend what I do and what level the game is
Sometimes I sell rooted cuttings of my houseplants. Definitely not much money, but $5-15 bucks here and there is still nice
I've answered this question here before, sell watches, make around $80k / yr net
Aka a flipper 😂
Haha no. I don't sell new watches mate. None of the watches I sell are "hot" pieces
No Seiko then ;) they are like hotcakes as much as Rolex
[удалено]
That's really interesting, I went through a phase where I was into watches quite a bit so I know a little. I recently sold a Seiko Sarb033 for double what I bought it for on ebay. What sorts of watches do you sell?
How’d you get into it/start?
I bought a watch I really wanted for myself, that I had saved up for for ages. A few months later I looked at what could sell it for and there was an arbitrage opportunity so just grew from there!
Do you buy/sell from on the same platform?
I don't, you can't \*\*\* where you eat haha
You buy in person and sell online?
Where do you sell that that the buyer cant screw you over?
Buy and sell both in person and online
Which brands do you find increase their value the most, or is it more about finding sought after movements etc...
Its about finding trends and getting infront of them before the sheep get there. Same thing with shoes. Its the next step up from the sneaker game pretty much.
I'm master Lars
House 3x2.5 Couple of mins walk to the beach. Self managed with a cleaner who has a lot of availability. Fingers crossed can be a way out of the daily grind.
Airbnb.. about 40k over 6 months. There's a big capital cost to start with though, plus ongoing expenditure
>Is your Airbnb a house or an apartment? Do you manage it yourself or pay an agency?

Hope that helps.

have been doing for a few years made prob 20-30k. maybe can share some tips
Have a spare room at home? Get your wife to set up a spray tan business. $35 per tan Thurs to Sun.
I had a housemate do this in a spare bathroom when I was at uni. That bathroom was like a murder scene
Photographer - mainly weddings Short weddings (4 hrs) is like $1100 Long full day ones $1800
Buying stuff on pickles and reselling (back in the day). Now, writing on quora
Doordash on my sports bike, around 25-40 dollars an hour. It's good fun
