You might be buying a size too small, your toes aren't meant to actually slot into the end of a dress shoe.

citizenecodrive31

Just buy a pair of white leather sneakers. [https://www.adidas.com.au/stan-smith-cs-shoes/IG1293.html](https://www.adidas.com.au/stan-smith-cs-shoes/IG1293.html) I'm sure you can find something like this from Adidas or Puma for under 100

felixsapiens

You wear sneakers to work in an office job?

MonoT1

I think it really depends if you're in a customer facing role or not. Engineers who can hide in an office all day have more leniency, whereas those who meet clients or sub consultants have a higher bar. Still couldn't personally imagine wearing sneakers to work but I live in a conservative regional town.

citizenecodrive31

In a lot of non-finance offices where its just a standard office dress code (for example, engineering) sneakers are perfectly acceptable and commonplace. I've seen orange ultraboosts worn with the company polo though so maybe my office is a bit different lmao

aninstituteforants

Absolutely. My last 3 office jobs have all been no dress code.

RARARA-001

Look at hush puppies. They make a decent range of office appropriate shoes. I wear their boots and they’re the comfiest shoes I’ve had for a long time. Spend the money on a good pair of shoes and they’ll last and you’ll get more out of them.

Otherwise_Hotel_7363

I had a pair of their shoes years ago, they were super comfy. Went to a pair of Docs, took ages to wear in. Hush Puppies were a more comfy shoe, just wore out faster.

the908bus

I bought some Ascent shoes https://www.ascentfootwear.com.au/work

I have wide feet, I really like the Lacoste Carnaby sneakers. Edit: didn’t see for office…

Duck feet

birdy9221

What a helpful comment.

bentombed666

its a company that makes wide toe box shoes... [https://duckfeet.com.au/collections/men](https://duckfeet.com.au/collections/men)

birdy9221

Touché.

GLADisme

Shoes shouldn't cost under $100, you're being unrealistic with your expectations. You're wanting shoes with an almond shaped last, Morjas has [these](https://www.morjas.com/product/the-oxford-rubber-sole-black-calf/) for about $500 and they've got a generous toe box.

Big-Deuce-Dog

They shouldn’t cost under $100. But over $500 is also very unrealistic to expect people to afford.

GLADisme

No it's not? Maybe if you're a broke student but if you're a full time office worker that's in your budget. $500 is pretty much the minimum for goodyear welted shoes. Anything less and you'll be rebuying in a few years anyway.

felixsapiens

In Oz you can get GYW shoes from Kennedy Parker at about $329 - https://kennedyparker.store/collections/shoes There’s probably others. They may not be the best GYW shoes in the world - though they seem pretty good; but if you haven’t got $500+ I’d say $329 on a pair of these was still a better investment than $100-$250 on some brand cemented in most Aus shoe shops/department stores.

Big-Deuce-Dog

Must be nice.

GLADisme

Don't act like $500 is the height of luxury, we're just so used to fast fashion prices that we forget what fair wages and quality materials looks like. Look second hand if $500 is too much.

Big-Deuce-Dog

Yeah. You’re out of touch. I didn’t say it was the height of luxury. I said it’s out of a lot of people’s budgets.

GLADisme

If you're a full time worker, you can afford it.

citizenecodrive31

Where do you get off telling people what they can and can't afford as if you look at their paycheck and expenses? Don't be a snob

GLADisme

I'm not out buying $500 shoes every week, but I have a few good pairs that will last forever. Your grandparents were paying the equivalent of about $500 per shoe.

[deleted]

they were not paying an equivalent of $500 a shoe for a job. Do you think all our grandparents were CEOs or something? Does blue collar work not exist in your little world?

Big-Deuce-Dog

You are out of touch if you believe this.

puckmungo

For something that you wear almost everyday, you absolutely can afford it. Think about how much people are willing to spend on hobbies or entertainment.

[deleted]

$500 for OFFICE shoes is very unrealistic lmao

GLADisme

How much do you think the person making your shoes should make?

[deleted]

I get what your saying, but I think it's invalid and irrelevant to this. I bet you currently and have previously own many products that were made very cheaper from questionable labour practises. Get off your high horse

beanboom6

Look into barefoot shoes, that community is massive. Otherwise, RM tambo’s are not bad - basically a wider fit comfort craftsman
