I remember Fungry's had their charity house which was a parody of Ronald McDonald House... showed sick children in bed and a massive 4-patty burger in front of them
I donβt believe the show was actually cancelled, the team just ran out of ideas and were getting tired from doing so many shows per year.
I believe they were actually offered to do more seasons in America but turned it down for the same reasons as above.
Sad but always best to leave people wanting more right?
Yeah this is true. They took a break (2008 I think?) and decided to do a series of stage shows. Dominic Knight said it was harder to write that than the weekly TV show!
The Checkout was a great spin-off show, unfortunately that got screwed by a production company.
Some of the best shows don't go on too long... The Late Show only did 2 years/40 episodes.
The Checkout was great, funny and informative.
Charles Firth and Dom Knight do a daily podcast still (The Chaser Report), Andrew Hansen makes the occasional appearance to plug his comedy shows.
Chas is still working on his own show Planet America. Havenβt seen Craig, Julian or Chris in awhile.
Iβd recommend listing to the podcast War Stories by The Chasers if you want to reminisce about some of the stunts in War on Everything with all the guys.
I follow the guys that are on Twitter. Chas used to be on there but he abandoned it years ago, and later someone hacked and hijacked his account.
AFAIK - Craig appears on The Drum quite often, Julian pops up on Radio National... and Chris was one of the team captains on Would I Lie To You (Australia) until he quit. Craig's also done War on Waste.
I've said before on Reddit that the ultimate comedy show for me would be something combining the D Generation, the Chaser and Mad As Hell.
Fuck yes. My ex and I used to go to the ABC studios and watch the show live.
I just wish they'd find a way to release the footage from when Chas and Andrew snuck into the Today Tonight offices
The confected outrage over that was ridiculous, with dickheads like Karl Stefanovic out front banging the drum. It wasn't making fun of sick kids. It was shining a light at some groups that stage-manage everything, even to the point of arranging something that a kid hasn't asked for.
Frontline also showed how the media can exploit children for ratings...
Mate, I watched it as it aired and the audience reaction said it all. It was over the line and everyone knew it. Yes, charities are exploitative but the punchline went down, not up. Right message, wrong delivery. A rare misstep for the Chaser boys.
I remain a huge fan of their pointed humour but they fucked that one right up and no talking head had to prove it. Hence their sincere apology and subsequent quiet period. At the time it seemed ABC had cancelled the show (in the old, non-loaded sense of the word) but as others have said, it was more like their time was naturally done.
They were suspended for two weeks - so that season had 8 episodes instead of 10.
I'm in the minority that didn't have a problem with it. Was there the same outrage over the Eulogy Song? Or Fungry's House?
Def not eulogy song -- the ending was actually them knowing when to stop and just added to the strength of the joke. Still a fun one to share with non-Aussies to give them a taste of real Australian humour even though they aren't gonna get the reference to people like Brock.
Wow a whole flood of wonderful memories just came rushing back, APEC, Trojan horse, west coke eagle, Al Kyder and Terry Wrist, Oscar bait, hugging john howard, Japanese whaling. such good times, those guys with the APEC stunt still a timeless classic. ππ€£ππππππ π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦π¨π¦
Can anyone help i am trying to find an episode with a stunt they pulled but i cannot find it on Youtube, its the one where they one by one show up holding flowers and sing a declaration of love song to this girl until she runs off.

Chris was also in a tv show about wine, called Plonk, but I donβt remember if it is still being made
It's in the vault now... along with Andrew Hansen's "Strictly Speaking" and Craig Reucassel's "War On Waste".
Yeah youβre correct, they werenβt cancelled.
Fuck yes. My ex and I used to go to the ABC studios and watch the show live. I just wish they'd find a way to release the footage from when Chas and Andrew snuck into the Today Tonight offices
Genuinely one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.
Make-a-realistic-wish next time. Why go to any trouble? They got cancelled anyway. ...iykyk.

Ahhh I can almost smell the nostalgia
Haha I literally have volume 1 & 2 sitting next to the couch right now.
I used to love The chasers show, ones of the funniest shows that I miss. Used to enjoy Jimeoin (sp?) as well. Fast forward. The comedy company. Sigh.

Was it cancelled? I thought they just ran out of gags
they pretty much ended on their own terms, so yeah ran out of gags.
