I had a somewhat high-profile gig with a well-known regional drummer a few months ago who had a run-in with a powerful edible, fell off his stool during the second tune, and had to be carried away. I live in a city famous for live music, so the bandleader jokingly asked if there was a drummer in the audience, and some guy who had just finished a gig elsewhere and came by to watch the show finished the set for us. We split the tips with him, and our original drummer gave him a hug. Trust your internal clock and you will be fine :)
Nice!
its gonna work out well, I'm looking forward to it as an on the spot adaptation challenge. if it works out keep a duo act for a whilst and open up a few venue opportunities that didn't want a full band!
I saw Nerf Herder once in San Francisco, and their guitarist got so drunk during the show that they had to get a volunteer guitarist from the audience to finish the gig. The band had been getting the audience to buy shots for them inbetween songs, it was totally their fault. Good show though.
>who had a run-in with a powerful edible
Where are these edibles that actually work? I could eat 100 mg from my local dispensaries and not feel a thing other than nausea. Only thing that has ever worked for me was flower or pens. Even then, I can't imagine it ever being strong enough to stop me from doing my job, let alone fall out out of a chair, especially when required to perform in front of an audience.
I actually read online the other day that some people have an enzyme that prevents edibles from being effective. I have no idea if it's true or not though cause it was just some random comment that I read
Chiming in to say that I’ve tried up to a couple hundred mg’s in edible form multiple times an have never experienced a high from it. Some people just don’t have the right metabolism to get the psychoactive benefits, I believe
Hey, drummer and bassist here. We lost our bassist, haven't found a replacement, so I've got myself one of them foot tambourines and my kick drum while i play bass. It's a bit of a mindfuck for me - I feel like I'm better when I have less to focus on.
If only you where based in North Wales I could be your bassist!
That how I feel now I'm doing backups. I can keep decent time on my own but throw in some lines whilst note switching and then it's a coin flip as to which suffers
I've written the songs I don't know on a piece of paper with prompts, I've had a jam this morning and it went alright, now just waiting the 10 hours until I go live!
Thought for you, I’m a bassist and a beatboxer. I have Boss RC-300 that I run both Mic and Bass into.
Maybe in your case get a basic looper to lay down a basic beat
In the long term, yeah, we may look for summat like that.
Short term, we just had an hours practice the other day, and we will just see how it goes tonight.
See what songs work and what don't
Aye, I do like to grove a little and foot tap so I won't be worried about that.
It's the first time with a mic that's gonna be a challenge singing whilst note switching isn't something I find natural.

Fantastic story. This will be a great addition to your bands biography. Edibles can be quite unpredictable, better to smoke a very small joint.

Only morons think potency and tolerance issues have anything to do with toughness.

Sorry to hear that, it's unprofessional to say the least.
It was a kick in teeth, but cant stay down! those venues aint gonna entertain themselves

You are now the time keeper. Just trust yourself and you guys will be good.
Loved my time as a bassist for an acoustic guitar / electric bass duo. Have fun!!
I'm looking forward to it but dreading the fact all these extra songs have been thrown in last min. It's gonna be a blast though
That can be tough, best of luck learning them. You’ll do great!!

It’s almost 10 hours from your comment, so just wanted to say break a leg!!
Just setting up and bricking it ha
This fellow bassist (who had to look up what “bricking it” means lol) is cheering you on from NYC!

North Wales will do that to people
Don’t forget, body movement helps you keep time. Foot tap, sway, etc.

Oh yeah. Singing and playing is hit or miss for me. Good luck man! Have fun with it no matter what!

Who knows, you might be the next Les Claypool.
Good luck pal. If this is a consistent issue for you, maybe a beat buddy can help...
