Type 1 chassis with a body kit, may have started as a Manx. NGL, kinda dig it.
EMPI ( the best VW hop up company ) made a buggy body for the VW chassis and it looked very much like this.

This is an Empi Sportster. There are pretty minor variations but I think it's the real "thing" from them.

See, I think those are the intakes. Since there are a pair of roughly 12in long tail pipes(assuming) in back.
