The press conference this morning was a lot more optimistic. They said it should be fixed in 5-7 days, and that we did reduce water consumption enough yesterday, so if we all use the same amount (or less) as we did yesterday then weāll be okay. So Iām hopeful.
Havenāt showered since Wednesday evening (deodorant ftw) , not doing the weekly laundry yet( due yesterday) and was thoroughly pissed off watching a neighbour water their grass today

Ya, even if theyāre recycling 80% of their water, it still just appears really hypocritical to ask Calgarians to reduce and (rightfully so) guilt and threaten people with running out of water when there probably isnāt a more obvious waste of water right now. And most car washes have one, maybe two people on staff. So the ājobsā argument seems weak, as well.

Itās 80thth anniversary of DDay. My dad, who would be 100 this year if still alive, went over 3 weeks without taking off his blood and mud soaked uniform. And only got cleaned when an older French woman in whose barn they were staying, washed it for him. Dad, who was from a small village in the GaspĆ©sie in QuĆ©bec, wouldnāt have missed having a shower as people didnāt have running water in their houses.

Speaking from experience the majority of the car washes in the city donāt recycle their water

Car washes are already required to recycle and reuse their water.
Can't recycle it all, evaporation losses from spraying cars in dry, warm air are not insignificant.
