Ok, but I bought this really amazing hippie deodorant from little seed farm and it’s amazing.
Otherwise I agree with you. I’ve tried most of them because regular deodorant irritates my skin.
I mean, there probably are some that would. My old dog loved going anywhere there was someone that would give him attention. Most dogs are not like that. They get super anxious when there are lots of new people and loud noises. But also, I would never take a dog somewhere like a fest because I wouldn't want to have to deal with the overhead.
I have a friend who's girlfriends friend likes to bring her aggressive tiny dog to any get together. It tries to bite anyone that reaches down to pet it. He excuse is that they say it's a dog friendly house. But if your dog isn't friendly then leave it at home.
The entitled misunderstanding of rights puts it right on the mark, given that you cannot, in fact, wear whatever you want in public, but you're 100% allowed to judge.
Exactly, you're allowed to judge and you're allowed to call judgmental people assholes. That's the beauty of America, we can't officially control the things people think or say. There can absolutely be consequences to actions. And we're all judged all the time by everyone anyway.
Plus telling assholes to not do whatever they're doing is a surefire way of guaranteeing they continue on. Just ignore it and move on, I thought words weren't supposed to hurt us because if they do we've given them the power or whatever.
It also goes both ways, I happen to look like a cop despite being everything but. I feel the eyes on me when I'm hanging around these types of people (not using that in a negative way), I see people avoiding me, I hear them tense up when come around. They judge just as much as they are judged because *that's how humans fucking operate.* Those who lean outwardly "hippie" or whatever term we want to use are usually a lot more combative at first until they realize I'm not a gaping asshole. It's genuinely a struggle sometimes.
I know it's a love or hate thing, and I was full annoyed/hate ten years ago. Then someone convinced me to volunteer and I've been full love since. My experience is it's definitely a lot of people, but a bit less much as 10+ years ago. I think the fest has found better ways to entice the crowd to different corners of the park instead of one corner at once. That really helps with the crowded feelings.
If you're on the fence, I really suggest checking it out earlier in the day rather than later. I also suggest stopping by the info tent and asking how you can help. I know this sub has some big comfest love and some big comfest hate... but as a hater turned, it really was making the choice about volunteering and feeling like I earned a place in the community that made the difference for me.
Can one just show up outta nowhere and volunteer? Or do I have to contact someone through proper channels to be put on a list and meet someplace specific at a certain time?
Looks like you got your question answered, but I just want to say thank you so much for asking! I hope you have a wonderful comfest, and thank you for being a part of what makes our community so freaking great.
You can walk right up to the Information Station just inside the park near the Russell Street gate. [Here's an overview of all the different sorts of tasks you can volunteer for.](https://www.comfest.com/committees/volunteer-central-information/volunteer-now-2/)
[And here's a link to the Program Guide, which includes a map of the festival grounds.](https://indd.adobe.com/view/16fbe601-331f-4ec8-a606-6acc6099588c)
Ah yeah I have definitely enjoyed events from the volunteer side much more for some reason. I am not able to go this year but have been curious about going again. I will definitely look into the volunteer options when I’m able to go. Thanks for the reply!
Well, I definitely hope you get to give it a try next year! I think volunteer schedules come out in early April if you stay tuned into the Comfest website and socials. Feel free to shoot a DM any time of the year if you've got questions about getting involved.
> ... but as a hater turned, it really was making the choice about volunteering and feeling like I earned a place in the community that made the difference for me.
I think I love you.
Your comment is so exactly what we're always aiming for, and so well said!
Next step, for you and anyone else who feels this way: come to General Planning Meetings, which happen about twice a month from September to June, and find a whole other level of connection while influencing how the whole thing operates. Meetings dates and details are posted on the front page of ComFest.com.
😂 I'm new to GPC meetings, but I'm already there lurking lately. I got your email today about me 😂😂😂 I'm really happy to feel like I've finally found some of my kind of people. What a bunch of wonderful weirdos we have making things happen. I agree that anyone who gets these kind of feels should definitely start attending GPC meetings, or at the very least, asking someone how they can get more involved.
I had to go as part of a job I had about 15 years ago. I was told to walk from my place off of 5&High!! I was dumb enough to do it and dumb enough to believe I could take my dog with me. I had just moved to Columbus and I had no clue what I was getting into. That was enough for me.
What someone is wearing or not wearing, does not equal consent... nor does it give you the right to shame or sexualize them. If they aren't physically harming anyone, than mind your fuckin business. You have the right to offend, but you aren't free from the consequences.
Freedom to offend goes along with freedom of speech. If you take away the freedom to offend someone than you take away your own right to free speech. However, you are not free from the consequence of your free speech/offense. Fuck around and find out.
I think the first amendment protects you on that. And I think the first amendment also protects people who may voice their opposition to your shirt as well. My understanding of the Comfest principles are in short, that no one human is better than other humans. To me personally, that means that shaming and sexulaizing other humans isn't okay, but my interpretation if feeling and my interpretation of free speech isn't the end-all. Maybe others will feel differently, but my opinion is I think the general crowd will either ignore you or tell you to fuck off. I think either is okay. Again, we're expressing our 1st amendment rights *as individuals*
If you're not shit posting and you're seriously interested about the long-term discussions about this, hit me up after Comfest. I'm just too busy over the next few days for discussion. These hard conversations are the reason why I am involved with events like this.
A hulkamaniac
He power bombs motherfuck3rs onto thumbtacks
People like him until they find out he's unstable
He Sabu'd your momma through a coffee table
Entire cultures of desert dwelling people covered head to toe would disagree with you. Loose fitting, light colored clothing is optimal.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thawb
Sweaty clothes are sweaty clothes regardless of activity. My medication also makes me sweat so badly 😭
Not saying I’m going to totally strip down, but I am not the type to cover up even more to try to keep cool. These facts are not my friends 😂
I’m just saying, the more UV radiation your skin absorbs (bare areas of skin) the quicker the path to heat related illnesses. Sunscreen helps but I personally know this to be true from working outside. Worked all last week in this bs and I like wearing long sleeved fishing shirts. Breathable and UV resistant.
You’re spot on with this when I did landscaping in Florida I was head to toe covered, and I didn’t ever really get soaked in sweat, because it’s about covering up with the right fabric/materials.
Coincidentally, the worst I’ve ever been sun burned was at comfest. At least you have some for of protection. Your skin is a giant organ that needs taken care of. UV radiation is absolutely no joke and it gets worse every year.
Please don’t think I’m trying to be ignorant or argue. I agree the sun can be… a lot. I try to stay in shade when I am outdoors unless I’m doing yard work or something. I’m approaching my late 20s and already see the sun damage I’ve sustained as a kid. Already have lots of freckles, but my skin tone is uneven and I have scarring. I’ve also been doing red light therapy to help reduce it as much as possible. Skin cancer is definitely scary
People are going to shame you or sexualize you to themselves or people around them whether you like it or not, because last I checked, we don't live in Oceania.
Yes, this person indicates that they don't judge people for harmless actions that only affect the wearer. Supporting a criminal into office who has promised to hurt a lot of people is not a harmless action. Glad we could clear that up!
Except when you wear a Trump hat or shirt (or Biden, or ANY political candidate) you are telling the people around you some very specific things about what you support. It’s a choice to represent yourself that way in public, whereas what your body looks like is not.
I don’t think so there are all kinds of people who vote for Trump and there are all kind of people who vote for Biden. Just like everyone’s body is different
Regardless of your reasoning for voting for him, you’re still voting for someone who actively wants to stomp on people’s rights. So, yeah, I’m going to judge someone for still supporting him.
It’s just funny that they would waste money on a shirt for a politician and even funnier that they would wear it around without embarrassment. I’d laugh at someone in a Biden shirt too.
Parking at ComFest is not easy. Since all the streets around the park are either closed for the fest or permit parking, your best bet is to take COTA. Second best is the parking garages around the convention center. Sorry it took so long to get an answer for your question!
My dog is hyper social. Everyone is his friend, including other dogs. He would drag me across Goodale Park to meet that cute poodle on the other side.
He would also give us both heatstroke in the process.
Right this minute, he wants to go back outside even though he just came in from a walk panting like he was overheated.
Dogs don't know what's good for them. They're depending on us to make decisions in their best interests.
The word "sexualize" is triggering, and frankly, offends the Hell out of me \[and any other reasonable person\].
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - SCREW YOU if you think you get to tell me what I see as "sexy" or not, seriously, knock it off, I'm sick of it.
As long as I'm not blurting out lewd things about children, enough already, I'm DONE with you people, I don't even want that word to exist in the dictionary any more, I am so OVER it.
I've lived here for almost 8 years and I had never heard of comfest until this week. I had such peace before you fools forced this hippie police party nonsense into my brain. I will haunt all of you.
Wear whatever you want as long as it’s deodorant
I thought it was against the spirit of Comfest?
I’m not even sure what comfest is tbh but I know fest and that’s enough to know what needs to be done
All natural vegan deodorant. It only works as long as you stay indoors with the AC on.
Ok, but I bought this really amazing hippie deodorant from little seed farm and it’s amazing. Otherwise I agree with you. I’ve tried most of them because regular deodorant irritates my skin.
So… patchouli oil?
That’s odorant
100% Nasty shit.
No deodorant is the signature smell of comfest lol.
They're dirty hippies, they don't even use soap.
On this weekend, we’re all dirty hippies. Embrace it.
All I can promise is that I'll keep my judgments and shaming to myself.
Facts 😂
Suns out, buns out
Ok, but I will shame people who bring dogs
Why are people so bound & determined to bring their dogs to festivals? They are not having a good time, just stop
It’s so sad to see them so nervous and hotttt, I know they’d rather be sleeping at home.
BUT MY DOG LOVES IT BUT MY DOG IS CONTROLLED BUT MY DOG IS CUTE BUT MY DOG JUST NEEDS TO GET TO KNOW YOU
I mean, there probably are some that would. My old dog loved going anywhere there was someone that would give him attention. Most dogs are not like that. They get super anxious when there are lots of new people and loud noises. But also, I would never take a dog somewhere like a fest because I wouldn't want to have to deal with the overhead.
Yeah. That should be reserved for prom.
I’d be worried about the heat.
(1) They want attention and possibly a date. (2) They think this is what it means to “socialize” a dog.
Because they don't love their animal, they love *having* their animal.
I have a friend who's girlfriends friend likes to bring her aggressive tiny dog to any get together. It tries to bite anyone that reaches down to pet it. He excuse is that they say it's a dog friendly house. But if your dog isn't friendly then leave it at home.
Don’t shame my dog for wanting to get a contact high, bro
For some of us, that park is our dog park and where we take our dogs all year. Please keep that in mind.
So, you're, like, torturing your dog in protest? Maybe consider writing a letter and going to a different dog park.
Literally… I am dumbfounded by the above comment
> For some of us, that park is our dog park and where we take our dogs all year then don't do that for a couple days? wtf is this comment
Keep what in mind? It changes none of my sentiments. Dogs don’t belong at festivals. Leave them at home to sleep in peace.
Maybe go somewhere else for the weekend?
Please walk to river bank and think of your dog’s wellbeing first instead of being a stubborn curmudgeon. Just let the kids have fun boomer.
Off leash I’m sure.
Goooddale is not a dog park.
Posts like these are never actually friendly. It’s more like pre-stirring the pot. If you don’t care, don’t care.

How many people go to ComFest these days? I have not been in over a decade and there were….a lot of fucking people then.
more
That sounds about right lol
Yea it got too big for the little park it's in. When it was relatively small it was wayyy more fun

Especially.

he can eat Monopoly and shit out Connect 4
Best spot at comfest nowadays is the ICP tree
it’s proven that the more skin you have covered, the better off you are when it’s hot outside.
My sensory problems with wearing sweaty clothes heavily disagree
Entire cultures of desert dwelling people covered head to toe would disagree with you. Loose fitting, light colored clothing is optimal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thawb
I didn’t argue or say anyone was incorrect.
Your gonna be standing outside not running a marathon.

Yeah I def don’t pass on sunscreen. I have had major sunburn problems as a kid and learned that lesson
Coincidentally, the worst I’ve ever been sun burned was at comfest. At least you have some for of protection. Your skin is a giant organ that needs taken care of. UV radiation is absolutely no joke and it gets worse every year.

Oh no, I don’t think you’re arguing! Just trying to stress the lessons I’ve learned the hard way.
Thanks for sharing your suggestions, I really do consider them even if they aren’t my favorite lol
Even in the shade?
The opposite has been proven inside my jeans on a hot day
Unless that person has a different viewpoint than you. Then it's fine.
That's the real spirit of Comfest.

People are going to shame you or sexualize you to themselves or people around them whether you like it or not, because last I checked, we don't live in Oceania.
The person posting this would be the first person to judge someone for wearing a Trump shirt
I personally love Trump shirts because it tells me to avoid ever interacting with the wearer
Make Assholes Glaringly Apparent
Yes, this person indicates that they don't judge people for harmless actions that only affect the wearer. Supporting a criminal into office who has promised to hurt a lot of people is not a harmless action. Glad we could clear that up!
Props for making this statement
A criminal lmao
34 felony convictions.
Just being objective here, those charges were designed to be overturned on appeal.
Are you suggesting you don't see the difference between what this post says and wearing a Trump shirt?
What if it's a trump bikini on a 70 year old man?
Such an outfit would ask more questions than it answers.
I think judging anyone without knowing them is wrong.
Except when you wear a Trump hat or shirt (or Biden, or ANY political candidate) you are telling the people around you some very specific things about what you support. It’s a choice to represent yourself that way in public, whereas what your body looks like is not.
But doesn't the Trump shirt tell you something about the person in question?

Something, but not everything. Limited knowledge can be sometimes more dangerous than no knowledge.
It’s just funny that they would waste money on a shirt for a politician and even funnier that they would wear it around without embarrassment. I’d laugh at someone in a Biden shirt too.
I have judged you and found you lacking
This is the United States of America you can shame or sexualize them if you want. If you don’t like it too damn bad
Sure, you have the right to be an asshole. But life is easier when people aren’t assholes.
But they still have a right to even be an asshole.
It is but sure judgement would be made if I wore a MAGA hat down there.
Make Assholes Glaringly Apparent
Make America Hate Again !!
At least you told the rest of us you're a dick, and you didn't even have to wearing anything.
You might want to read what you post before you send it. And thank you for noticing I do have a dick.
Oh no a typo shame on me. At least my point still stands :)
Getting out my crotchless maga hat! /s
couldnt pay me to go
I mean, loose light clothing that protects your skin from the sun keeps you alot cooler than tight skimpy clothing? What's your deal? lol
I don’t think this person has a “deal.” They are saying mind your business.
Some people are gross though
You are under no circumstances controlling anybody’s thought or speech even if it offends you and your sensibility.
Louder for those in the back!
No one is desperate enough to sexualize overweight topless women.
Oh no, not big boobs 😱
What's a good place to park if I go?
Parking at ComFest is not easy. Since all the streets around the park are either closed for the fest or permit parking, your best bet is to take COTA. Second best is the parking garages around the convention center. Sorry it took so long to get an answer for your question!
Thank you so much for responding though. I am all the way in Dublin so COTA may be a bit difficult. Convention center it is for me then 🙂 ❤️
I parked by Thurder and a street that starts with B! Prime parking, but it might’ve gotten busy since I’ve left today.
So I can't shame or sexualize them now? I don't want to live in this world anymore 😔
Someone really wants to see some boobies.
my 🍆 will be out getting a tan. cope
Comfest organizers are too command and control for me. Nope.
Oh yeah TF we can.
But also remember, just bc you can wear something doesn’t mean you always should
Tiddies be tiddian’
Lol.

Look, I won’t shame them for it.
If I wear a crop top and daisy dukes in public as a 250 pound guy, you have every right to shame or sexualize me.
If you have a case of the floppies or pancake bewbs please do all of us a favor and keep them at least partially hidden. Thanks
brother i will be dragging my saggy tits on the ground for all to see
Shame and/or sexualize at your own peril. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequence.
Ahh, comfest. The only festival where you can watch people trip on LSD and stab themselves to death. How charming.
