No matter what you do, wood will always expand and shrink depending on surrounding moisture level. While in wet concrete, it expands. Once it dries out, it shrinks. Gaps are inevitable.
Better than nothing and I was short of thinking that. Otherwise just topping it with some more quick Crete then adding water again if that makes sense. Fill the crack with powder them wet it

This is pressure treated lumber. I wiggle the post before the concrete was fully cured.

You could try getting a bag of mortar, mix it really thin, and pour it into the crack. Note that I would try this, but have never done it.

To try to keep moisture out, I’d try concrete crack sealers for driveways - that stuff flows well and might slow down further degradation.
Maybe use a wood shim but I’d let it fully cure
