1. Regularly refill your bike's gas tank, so be on the lookout for tow trucks, Nero checkpoints, ambush camps and gas stations. Gas cans never run out. ____________________________________________________________ 2. Coast downhill to conserve gas. ____________________________________________________________ 3. As you're riding around the map, ambush camps will pop up in your vicinity on occasion. Clear them asap. ____________________________________________________________ 4. Clear out infestations because they prevent fast travel along the roads they're on. ____________________________________________________________ 5. Take your time early in the game to loot buildings and cars for all the necessary crafting items you need. You'll be surprised how quickly you max out capacity. ____________________________________________________________ 6. Conserve your traps, distractions and throwables until youre maxxed out on crafting supplies or close to being maxed out. Revisit towns, Nero checkpoints and cleared ambush camps for needed supplies. They respawn. ____________________________________________________________ 7. Don't mess with hordes early in the game. Wait till you have much better weapons and extra ammo stock for your bike. ____________________________________________________________ 8. Cop cars have ammo and ambulances have medkits.

ThePenetrathor

addition to 5. Always craft every item you can, since the inventory is quite small that will free up some space. And get the perk that lets you hold more items as soon as possible. After like 10-20 hours of playtime go for the challenges, they offer you some useful permanent perks for the main game. (i didnt touch them until 50 hours in and was kinda bummed i didnt do them sooner because of the perks).

FrameJump

Damn, challenges give you perks that carry over into the main game? Hell, I wish I'd known that before I beat the game.

QuoteQuiet8730

I have over 1300 hours play time it’s all I play.

FrameJump

I'm happy for you, but I was very ready for the game to be over by the time it ended. It was a fine game, but I needed more from the gameplay loop.

HellBag666

I'm on the final story mission (I think), and I'm only just now learning this??

Ok_Selection9878

What ? 😭 Should've Know Way before beating the game tp 100 % (without collectibles and landmarks) But Seriously tho, does the game give you any rewards for beating it 100 % (everything) apart from a custom accent 😅

FrameJump

I couldn't tell you. I was pretty tired of the gameplay loop by the time I finished the game, and I didn't 100% it.

ThePenetrathor

Clearing hordes gives you guns, especially machineguns like the M60. thats the only thing besides crafting recipes from ambush camps. And at like 90% horde clearance you get the "Rock Chuck" aka Honeybadger (silencer integrated gun that has permanent silencer)

Firm_Transportation3

You will eventually get to NERO checkpoints where you need to turn the power back on. You can cut or shoot down the speakers in these areas before turning the power back on and save yourself a lot of trouble.

nivremanuglap

or conserve bullet by throw the speaker with rocks

Speed_Badger

Or just climb on top of the building and cut them down

socioeconopath

I didn't wanna spoil that because I figured it'd be more fun for OP to find that out the hard way especially at Chemult Community College lol

Firm_Transportation3

Fair. And yes, that area is rough. I was not expecting that.

QuislingX

Re 8) be strategic about holding off on clearing out cop cars and medkits until you absolutely need it. Nice thing about Days gone is it's like real life; you start remembering landmarks and where you're going. One day, you're going to actually be super far from civilization, going on a string of missions, and running low on supplies. THEN you're going to go "ah ha! I know there's a cop car around here!" And you'll get it and get just enough supplies to finish what you're doing then head back out. It's satisfying. I contend to this day this game is intelligently designed.

socioeconopath

Yep that's true. There have been times where I needed ammo or medkits and passed a cop car or ambulance and they were already hit.

d_bradr

>Coast downhill to conserve gas Honestly you don't need to save gas, it's all over the place. Just keep topping off the tank >Don't mess with hordes early in the game. Wait till you have much better weapons and extra ammo stock for your bike I found a lot of them to be meh honestly. I felt like I could have taken quite a few on much earlier. Maybe on high difficulties they become an issue but I remember taking out quite a few hordes with the bullpup from Tuck and the SMP 9. Before I got the horde killer task I think I was at least 7 hordes down >Cop cars have ammo and ambulances have medkits And fire trucks have fire axes, low durabiluty but high damage for early and mid game

Alien_hunter71

Also, all tow trucks have gas. Plus it's everywhere like you said but ALWAYS on the back of tow trucks.

MrCheese411

I had no idea about this and I’m like 20 hours in. Very annoyed at myself

socioeconopath

I forgot that fire trucks have axes near them. I always just craft a modded baseball bat. But yeah, about the hordes, you’re right. Some of them, especially in Cascades, are super easy to deal with and only have like 50 freakers.

d_bradr

Yeah if the Cascades and Belknap hordes spawned right away I have a feeling you could have that LMG unlocked pretty early

willow-the-tree14

Coast downhill to conserve gas is kinda bullshit it’s useless just refill often but if your literally like running on fumes then yeah coast downhill till you get to petrol

socioeconopath

That’s true 95% of the time coasting is unnecessary, but on my very first playthrough I got stuck between a rock and a hard place and ran outta gas up in the hills nowhere near any fuel cans. Of course I know better by now, but at the time it was still very early game without bike upgrades and I intentionally went off the beaten path just trying to explore the hills. Honestly, idk how I let the bike get that low, maybe just wasn’t paying attention to the meter and before I knew it I was running on empty. But you’re right, as long as you pay attention, it’s virtually impossible to run outta gas or even need to coast downhills (although I still do it as force of habit).

zaidy329

You can also pay any camp mechanic to retrieve your bike if you run out of gas and leave it in the wild

willow-the-tree14

Fair play

tushar_moksha

Just enjoy my friend, you are about to begin an epic adventure. It will be tough at the beginning but before you know it , you will master the art of survival and war. This game will become your toughest goodbye.

Usfahmed

I echo this. Just enjoy the game and learn as you go along

Jeb_Digital

Fr these tips are all well and good but where is the adventure at

RattusMcRatface

Consult the wisdom of Spawnicus Rex and Borislav247 if you find yourself stuck or confused.

Jaded-Consequence606

Using Borislav to get gold on the challenges (I can’t get past silver by myself), he’s great and easy to follow

rodimus147

Borislav is another level. I watch his videos, and he makes it look so easy. I'm like, I can do this. Then I try, and I in fact, can not do this. Got 1 gold a couple of silvers and the rest bronze, and I think that's how it's gonna stay.

Jaded-Consequence606

Absolutely, even with his help I have to do the challenge quite a few times before I get there. Got 3 golds at the moment, the rest are silver and a couple of bronze. I alternate between main story and challenges so I don’t get frustrated

SVK64

I got platinum thanks to borislav

tomoruin

The game can be 100% fairly alright without help, only ask if you really need

RattusMcRatface

Yep. Agreed. It is a load of fun just finding stuff out for yourself.

soklacka

yeah, I feel I lost a lot of interesting gameplay by following a tutorial to get the submachine pistol early on. It's so OP that there was no reason to use any other pistol in the game.

8bitterror

Welcome to Days Gone and the sub! Here are a couple spoiler-free resources to check out: [SPOILER FREE Beginner Orientation](https://youtu.be/TtoeMMJgVw8) episode of the Days Gone Podcast u/SpawnicusRex's [Best Early Game Start Guide](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBJwsJgyTDYt6_tcGdfRph-HqNyViwcvL) To get one of the best sidearms in the game, check out Rex's video on [how to unlock the SMP9 early](https://youtu.be/eqyJ1PR47H8). Enjoy your first playthrough, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Just be warned there may be spoilers in this sub.

redboy33

Find all the light blue question marks. Easy way to get trust level points. Fill your Stamina first with the Nero injectors you find. Hordes are easier to kill when you can run faster for longer. Don’t forget to actually pick skills as you acquire skill points. My first time through I had like 7 skill points banked before I realized there was a skills “menu” Early on kill as many animals as you can and gather plants to sell for camp credits. This will help you buy ammo. Search every dead body and pick up every can, bottle, kerosene, car alarm, scrap, etc. you can find to craft other weapons. Have fun. Like others have said it’s a little slow in the beginning but picks up as you skill up and build a better bike.

VoidSpaceCat

The more you upgrade your bike the better. You literally use it more often than your legs. Challenge mode is separate from the campaign but everything you unlock there boosts your campaign stats passively so do those from time to time as well.

leblanc_Blm

I finished the game without knowing this

karma81

There is always another speaker you miss when you find a Nero site. Follow the overhead wires and shoot them with a suppressor or snip them with your knife before you start the generator.

Trouty213

Camp credits are separate across camps. If you are saving for a bike upgrade you can still spend all your credits at Tuckers camp for guns

ghost-ns

Stay away from the internet as it pertains to Days Gone until you finish it at least once.

Lumpe-

Just one, don’t fix your bike with scrap unless it doesn’t ride at all. It’s a waste and you can fix your bike at camps with credit that will not be burning a hole in your man purse.

leblanc_Blm

Make sure to prioritize the missions with the white marker on the map, because if you don't do them in time they will simply go and you can't do them anymore. Choose tucker. Enjoy the game it will take you around 35~40 hours to finish it. Edit: there's a cap for ears you collect it's 999 per type so make sure to turn in bounties regularly

the-laughing-panda

take it slow, dont rush. enjoy the story!

DOAPSYCHO

As for everything, stay away from reddit.

DerBieso0341

I overdid it when I started thinking “hmm, my target camp is 200 meters away I better stop and stealth up …” you can save time lost on long walks by riding closer. Enjoy

redboy33

Deacon recovered like 7 of his fellow soldiers by swimming out to a submerged humvee but ironically can’t swim for shit in the game. This will come into play for a few Nero containers. If you haven’t leveled up your bikes engine and or nitro you can still get to those Nero sites but it’ll be close.

Budget-Sheepherder76

Ima say, do things your way, just always fill your gas tank, even if its at like 93%, I don't wanna hear it, every time you see a fuel can, fill your bike

StoneHart17810

Don’t stay out at nighttime. The hordes move. During the day they stay in caves and trains. The Tommy Gun is the best primary weapon. I love the MG as the special weapon.

Impressive-Sun3742

Starts a bit slow but it picks up! Upgrade your bike too. Enjoy! Such an amazing game

calibrae

Do not try to pet the ragers.

inz002

Aim for the head

shahzebkhalid25

when you get Copelands first mission for a tower , there will be a blue weapon dropped on the ground after a cutscene , recommend keeping that until you get better weapons from tuckers camp

redboy33

Yes. This. Remember the golden rule. Headshots use less ammo.

Zealousideal-Home779

Loot respawns. The farm over the bridge beside the pancake restaurant where you find lisa has good loot that respawns every 48 hrs

Skydawg421

Shoot the zombies

Spiritual_Exercise58

Have fun and search everything.

Aggressive_Signal483

Just enjoy it. Don’t use fast travel, enjoy the world.

Cruehitman

Decisions are meaningless. What I mean is, at certain points the game will have you make a choice as if it can greatly effect the outcome. It does not. So just use it for role play purposes! Focus is very helpful! Survival mode is the best way to play, but honestly would hold off on that until second playthrough. Enjoy the game! I love the game. Such a great journey… and man… those freakers can get nasty! And overwhelming! lol

mistawil

Find the camps, do the jobs to level up guns and your bike

Nico7791

I liked playing with the crossbow a lot and the perk to add damage to it is very useful. Also the arrow that make enemies attack each others is very useful for clearing camps

yeh_nah_fuckit

Don’t look anything up. Just turn the lights off, the sound up and get ready for some tense gameplay. Enjoy

GTO-NY

Enjoy, discover

d_bradr

Clear out 4 hordes, find a guide, it's really easy >!Give the drugs to Tuck, if you clean the hordes rep with Cope should be at (or close to) 1 already and Tuck has a pretty decent gun fot sale at level 1!< Top off your fuel tank at every place, it's free except from camps You can buy fuel and repair the bike at camps If you need to repair your bike, like after a sniper ambush, don't repair it fully, save the scrap for crafting. Repair it so you can ride it, get it fixed up at a camp Memorize good loot spots Don't be afraid of hordes, most are relatively easy Use cocktails Be smart with skills, they can be a good QOL improvement and some are pretty important, like seeing enemies through walls in tracking mode or whatever and carrying a lot of ammo Ammo can be bought at camps for cheap so don't be afraid to light up the camp. And so can suppressors so don't try to use then sparingly, they're really cheap too After you get the saddlebags see if it's cheaper to refill it or to buy ammo for your guns. If total price for all your ammo is over 400 then dip into your saddlebags because a saddlebag use will fully fill your ammo cap and it will only ever cost 400 creds per use. With LMGs when clearing out the hordes you can easily get up to 700 credits of spent ammo just for the LMG, dip into saddlebags and refill the saddlebags for 400 instead. At the end I was running an LMG, Tommygun and SMP 9 and after every single horde it was waaaay cheaper to use saddlebags ammo than to buy ammo for guns, especially with Up The Ante The first XP thing after a mission (the yellow one) shows you how much XP you've gotten and how far percentually you're away from the next level. Later things show you what you gained from completing the mission, camp creds, reputation, storyline progress etc. And most importantly, take your time and enjoy the ride. The game is pretty solid so don't hurry up to finish it

Alien_hunter71

Don't get discouraged in the first couple hours because you keep getting your ass handed to you.

Jdurf89

When going after nero checkpoints make sure you destroy all speakers. They will attract freakers and occasionally hordes

Weak-Fig9415

If you're taking on a horde or even a rather large amount of freaks don't just wildly sprint away I tend to use roughly a third of my sprint bar then turn around quickly and blast a few then run at normal speed for a while, also try to prioritise missions for hot springs to get the Aug it's a lifesaver in the early game

Mermaid89253

That's a great photo

schu4KSU

Headshots save ammo.

heyrodgs

Enjoy the stay... This game is a masterpiece.

schu4KSU

It's not a game where your newbie choices will screw up your endgame. Best way to play it the first time is with no help unless you get stuck. If you want to replay, come back for some tips on how to optimize play and enjoy the game in slightly different ways.

FlamingoHMR

Always use the Nero injectors for stamina, at least for the first 5 or 8 times

1EightySevenkilla

Set aside 100 plus hours. It never gets old. Some people will whine about the gameplay Loop, but if you like driving zombies, shitting yourself, and Gunplay you are going to have a good time. I guess the best piece of advice for that game, don't be afraid to buy guns and use ammo there are plenty of places to get both. Also always be crafting if you have the materials you will find more.

Greatgamer187

Do not just fly down the highway or main roads. It’s not good for your health.

xys_thea

Don't be like me and run straight into the horde at the Nero checkpoint where they're in a train thinking it should be an easy one since you're at the beginning of the game.

dread7string

don't give up just keep on grinding.

stitchesthclown

1. Finish every NERO checkpoint you come across, don't put them off. Use them to upgrade stamina. Also, upgrade your bike at the camps. Keeping it fueled and having to repair it can be a bit tedious early game so upgrading it made the game feel like less of a slog to me.

stitchesthclown

Oh and upgrade the melees skills early. It's more fun than just one shotting your way thru the game

pamda_girl

If you are in a situation where there are many breakers: shoot a breaker with residue arrow and watch it fight other breakers. If you’re feeling cheeky place bets on which one will win. Speaking of breaker and hoardes try to lead em to the various camps (ripper, ambush etc) let them do some of the work for you. Also you can kinda sick the breakers on hoardes. 😉

johnny_ringo

you lucky MF'er

Bungus33

Invest in crossbow. Best weapon in the game

Antique_Locksmith426

Have fun and drive everywhere. You will find and discover more that way.Aint no shame in running away when you need to. I really wish I could play again for the 1st time. Next week I start my 50th playthrough.

ThulrVO

Check out the pinned guide on this reddit, and watch the video on how to get the special SMG sidearm as early as possible.

ConnectFeedback5381

Get the melee repair skill early, I also worked to get the carry extra ammo as soon as possible. Don't worry to much about gas, it is plentiful, however, in early game the gas tank is range limited so coasting helps ensure you can get area to area. Uncover valuable loot locations, and scavenge them early in game to get nice goodies. A good spot is in a farm house >!in marion forks, a business in marion forks, and somewhere near the damn... I don't want to spoil it but his sorta localizes that search area. !<

Powdered_Donut

Upgrade the gas tank! Also, keep note of where the gas stations are.

BaileyD77

Take it slow. When it's over you'll wish it wasn't.

This_Win_8541

Just enjoy the ride, take your time buddy, its really amazing!

WelPhuc

Upgrade your combat tree first all the way

Plus_Ad_3854

Do side missions and hunt animals to sell them at camps to get credits, you can use camp credits to buy bike upgrades and buy weapons. Doing side missions for the camps will get you credits as much as improve their trust in you (giving you better stuff).

fuckyourfac3

Don’t run out of gas.

zandergroom

spend your money more on weapons at the start of the game, bike upgrades are important and i’d upgrade the performance before the visual upgrades, visual ones add no benefit aside from it looking cool when doing the nero things, the injectors, upgrade your focus mainly and health occasionally and/or simultaneously. stamina isn’t rlly that important if you can craft cocktails but do what you like im not your boss doing some of the more boring missions or even the ones where you just talk to somebody are an easy XP grab some take advantage of the Sarah missions coz they’re boring but you basically do nothing in those missions when buying skills, prioritise the Survivor section, you can get heaps of skills that are beneficial to your gameplay. like when you get the crossbow early on you’ll need the skill to find the trees to craft arrows with. freakers may seem intimidating at first, even as a small group of like 5, but eventually you come to find a horde easier than that first fight you had with a small group rippers don’t attack freakers so lure a horde into a camp and watch them cop it, while regular marauders, hunters, survivors etc. will attack them but stand fuck all chance against even just 2 so use that to your advantage. use stealth and distance to your advantage, silent weapons and whatnot watch the fuck out for traps. even to this day they still get me off guard for example; you’ll come across the occasional blue circle on your mini map and it’ll make you track something, when following that always make sure to avoid a sudden pile of leaves or deacon will be caught in a snare and knocked out. you’ll wake up in their camp and you can just get your stuff back but they’re annoying sometimes. another is bear traps when sneaking around camps, deacon yelling will alert enemies and it’s annoying because i manage to JUST catch them before i get caught and get caught anyway. another would be the trip wires, you can cut them but they’re very hard to see and walking through them can alert enemies. always collect scrap from enemies bikes, use it to repair your own or to repair your melee weapon try catch it early before you don’t have enough scrap to repair either if i think of any more tips i’ll come back to this

sasserixt92

Trunks and hood of any cars will become your best friend

Piledriverkiller

There is a sawmill you can go to and get a lot of good gear. If you go in the day it’s easier to get around

Corgi_Farmer

So all the side missions for the Sarah story.

lil_ladder_Vito

For me the most important tip would be this: search for any “?” on the mini-map hoping to find survivors and always exchange them for rep points and never $ (Copeland and Iron Mike are the only ones, besides the camps of the northern bit of the map which I wont spoil). Survivors are a huge rep boost, and rep will unlock crucial things in specialized merchants, for instance: Copeland camp, the first one you’ll reach, has a specialized mechanic for bike tuning, Tucker’s camp will have better weapons (but you can’t earn rep if you get them survivors, they’ll only get you $), Iron Mike has both a good weapons vendor and a specialized mechanic with superior tier bike customization, then there are the other two merchants (a gun guy and a mechanic) in the northern part but you get the gist.

FinallyInTheCult

If it's not getting your goat in the beginning, stick with it. I don't think it starts off very strong but it picks up big time.

Shaggypezdispense

Play the fucking game

QuoteQuiet8730

I stream Days Gone on Twitch every day Hectibus is my name and Days Gone Alway is the title I use I do hordes from high point glitches or stealth depending how I am on mats.

QuoteQuiet8730

Activate every mmu and vagrant camp as you find them that way you have more fast travel options.
