If we apply the same to Agni and Rudra we can have them combine if one of them is KOd with a bar of (whatever OP wants to call it) they will fuse into their combined form with a small amount of health to fight back

Have you played many fighting games because I personally don't think that really matters much. When I think about fighting games I'm thinking more about mechanics first roster second. I think some more context on what kind of fighting game you think it would be would be mechanics wise would help give a better idea of what characters would work and what wouldn't Like in a 3d arena fighter, beowulf could work But in a 2d fighter like MvC, he'd probably be a dogshit character and that matters. Nelo angelo for another vergil you already have like 4. Doppelganger Dante could easily be a clone character for Dante with the same moveset but slightly different moves. Tbh if I was making a dedicated dmc fighting game dmc 1,2,3,4 and 5 would all be seperate characters. They could use the same slot but trying to pump 5 games worth of movelist into one character is a bit much. Cavaliere angelo is about the right size, has a decent moveset of teleports, ranged attacks, aoe defensive attack. Easy choice if its not already there. I would also have dmc 4 Nero and dmc 5 Nero as different characters. Dmc 4 Nero would be more simple and easy to pick up, then become a puppet/install character with his dt Dmc 5 Nero would have his devil breakers

Fighting games often have different versions of characters, like Ryu-Evil Ryu, Jin-Devil Jin, and all the different versions of chars in Naruto and DB games. The characters movesets change a lot between games, so you could probably pad it with different versions of them. For human-sized characters you have Sparda, Matier, Arius, Bolverk, Despair Embodied, Arkham/Jester, Agnus, Sanctus, Gloria and Nico. As to how Nico could fight, in Teppen she pilots a mech like Tron Bonne. It could be fun if V's summons were also playable separately. Griffon as a character could be a fun nod to Pet Shop from JJBA: Fight To The Future (which DMC3/4 lead designer Mamoru Ohhashi also worked on, incidentally).

Phantom. The very first DMC boss deserves it. Besides, his moveset is quite obvious and unique, with both long-range (fireballs and lava pillars) and short-range attacks (pincer, mouth, tail). He even has a jumping attack.
