2018hellcat

Bought my ‘21 Durango hellcat back in ‘21, I got one that the dealers had preordered. I traded in my ‘18 Challenger hellcat widebody for it. Challenger issues- oil consumption, the engine consumed 0.7L in between oil changes. The supercharger belt tensioner was defective leading to lost HP, 478 vs 548 once replaced, this was measured on 2 separate dynos and different brands. I believe the first was a mustang and the 2nd a superflow. To be fair I drove the car pretty hard, and didn’t do much of a breakin on it. Took it up to 298km/h when it had 400km on the clock. Durango hellcat- meticulously did the proper break in to hopefully avoid oil consumption issues. Once the break in was past I did a few launches, 4th launch unplugged/unclipped my transmission cooler line (improperly set from factory). Dealership said I lost 4L of oil. When they were washing and fixing it they messed up my hood sound insulator and firewall sound insulation which I had them replace. That’s the only issues I’ve had with it so far and I currently have had it for 32 months, and have a little over 15,000km on the clock. I have had a legmaker intake on it since new practically and I just installed a gthaus cat back exhaust a few months ago. I’ve had it up to 254km/h so far and I regularly do WOT pulls. It’s been a pretty solid unit

That’s solid feedback, I appreciate it. Curious what kind of climate you live in? I live in South Florida so anything rubber wears out quickly. Are you still using Pirelli?

2018hellcat

No problem, I live in Alberta, Canada. So a dry climate with the summers getting as high as 100° and the winters getting down to -31°. To be fair it sits in my unheated garage and I usually don’t drive it when it’s below -13°. More Ice than snow here tho, funny enough.. well not funny at all but I’m giving her a deep clean and was listening to the stereo and now it won’t start and is making a popping sound. Probably the battery is pooched. Edit- Yea I’m still using the stock pirellis that came with it, the scorpion zero

spddemonvr4

Just add a Whipple to the 5.7 and you'll get nearly as much HP. https://rippmods.com/products/dodge-durango-5-7-supercharger-kit

Look at the SRT & HC theft issues before you decide. If you do get one, consider a www.ravelco.com

Sea-Reference9904

For sure, huuuge where I live too. I’m in a guarded, gated community and it would be garaged… but would also be my everyday car

From talking to people, you might be better off getting an R/T Tow & Go Blacktop, and then putting either a tune or going full on supercharger. The T&G is basically a 5.7 SRT. An add on supercharger is $8k? I think. It might be more for the 5.7; $8k might be the V6 supercharger. People aren't stealing the R/T. You'll get the features, the looks, and more power, for less money, and without the risk of theft.

My plan

You get a HC u gotta seriously be on point wherever you go. When you stop at a gas station or getting out at a parking lot to goto the store. They see what you’re driving and follow you waiting for a moment of opportunity. Or they will attach an air tag underneath and follow you online. Honestly not worth the risk and hassle IMO especially if you have a Family. Guy I know had his HC stolen, was recovered and 3 weeks later stolen again.

What do you do for a living to afford the 100k + hellrango? I want in please

Since 2015 I’ve had a total of four SRT vehicles. my first one was a 2015 SRT 392 challenger, next was 2016 SRT Hellcat challenger. Next a 2021 Ram TRX And now I special ordered 2024 Durango Hellcat. First thing I’d like to mention is that I’ve had zero issues with any of the vehicles. All of them were broke in correctly. One of the previous posts mentioned adding a supercharger, but you’re not getting any of the SRT features such as adjustable suspension, most importantly, the SRT brake system, it’s nice to be able to stop all that extra power. Other features are the transmission and transfer case designed for the extra power.

or by a kit for 1/3 the price.

This. I love my 2019 RT but no way in hell id spend an EXTRA 30k on one

Sea-Reference9904

That’s fair, but I was in an accident last Halloween with some kid changing lanes while texting. Took out my front quarter panel. Had everything redone but Now all these issues keep poppin up. Censors, heater hose, radiator fan. Don’t want to throw a kit on it, void my warranty and end up spending 20k on a kit, tune, and repairs
