It's also why a bunch of people are spending hours or *days* on Rellana, I think. She should not be a wall for players but I think a lot of people ride straight toward Castle Ensis and end up in front of her at blessing level 2.

misio22

This happened to me, went from belurat straight into ensis castle, but after like 10 or so attempts noped the f out of there and came back after some more exploring

KrombopulosKyle2

I came back to Rellana at blessing level 9 and still took almost an hour lmao. But yeah that's what I did with the main game. First souls game, went right into Stormveil, got my shit kicked in, then found the weeping peninsula and was like Oh hey there's more!

ronin_ninja

Man if only they’d spend those hours or days exploring the zones these bosses are located in. Was new to Elden Ring and souls games but my gaming experience told to fully explore each zone before taking in the boss of said zone and by doing so I’ve always felt well prepared to fight the up coming boss and win in a hand full of attempts

StanTheWoz

Oh huh, I beat her around blessing 4 I think? Maybe 3 and it was hard for sure but not awful

soggysocks1604

I think fromsoft didnt expect the players to be so hyped then explore so little. I didnt expect it either. Why play the game if you wont explore like what

prescottfan123

the amount of people who complain about "having to run around collecting items that you *need* to be successful is bullshit" because they "don't play souls games to explore" is mind boggling... like bro that's the game, it's an open world, of course you gotta do open world shit

Real_Jest

I think it's also an ego thing where they refuse to use some features coz it makes beating bosses less legit to them.

Mordho

That sounds like mental illness

Real_Jest

it's pretty much the same mentality as not using summons. I think it's only bad if they complain that it's too hard but otherwise they can do whatever they want.

trenbo90

These are not comparable, summons fundamentally change the game and that's why people don't like using them

Real_Jest

That's fair, while both these things makes it easier. You'd still pretty much play the same way no matter what scad lvl you are unlike with using summons. You'd just deal a bit more damage and take a bit less. Some people do think that getting more scadu would make the DLC way easier and think that they're not doing it the "legit" way though. Like those that were worried about the nerf that happened.

Oggy5050

Or maybe people are just *really* bad at exploration. Maybe they are exploring to the best of their abilities and just haven't happened upon any. It happened to me. Got a bit lost at the beginning, ended up at Bayle at scad level 4.

Real_Jest

I explored without even looking for them and I got to lvl 15. Admittedly some of them are in very obscure places though. I think I've just become very thorough coz some places have hidden cool items besides scadus and it sucks when you miss out on them.

Jermiafinale

I mean, most players probably did, we only see .0000000001% on this sub and in coop

Mordho

I think most people explore a lot. I always see a ton of messages everywhere with a lot of ratings and tons of bloodstains as well

soggysocks1604

Yeah its just that those who don’t are a VERY VERY VERY loud minority

mistakai

The problem is compounded by scad fragments being more than simply runes. They are also the smithing stones of the dlc.

ronin_ninja

I think I would of preferred getting shadow Smithing stones versus a hand full of smithing stones 1s on a random corpse hidden behind a waterfall lol

NormanNailsHer

I got 60 some vigor, plenty of endurance, heavy armor, and the upgraded defense / health talismans. Big old shield. The low-levels on the blessings just eats it all. I saw levels that were abysmal. It's enough that I might turn off the DLC summon zone.

silentnight110

I mean I saw it said it increased my damage dealt and decreased damage received and bum rushed those fuckers. If you read that and assumed it wasn't that important that's on you.

Horseclock-

What more can they do though? There's a popup when you pick up the first one saying that it increases damage dealt and reduces damage taken and if you read the item description it says the same. They've even tweeted and made an announcement on the steam page telling people to use them

ilazul

It's just not super intuitive. I feel like it would have been better if you got them from beating the furnace golems, dragons, bosses, etc. I knew to grab them all, but that's because I'm on reddit/watching preview vids, etc.

True-Ad5692

I actually coop just to see DarthOptimusZero going in with his dual katana / fast roll build / low fragments, get one-shotted, and curse his screen. That's true endgame. The fun one.

SweetWilliamCigars

I just think its a lot harder for the more casual audience to over level now... That's what made the base game great for a wide variety of players. You can still have a challenge or just over level by exploring and doing what you want. Then level up to make the game easier where you struggled. For a vet, the DLC doesn't support the ease of creating a new character and having a way to speed build them up to play it. I have probably 500 hours combined on PS5 and PC, 42/42 both versions with over 15 clears. I don't really have the desire to replay the DLC and get all those Scad frags on a new character + quick rune farm for a DLC build.

common-froot

It doesn’t matter and they won’t listen. Same for levelling up vigor. No matter how much you say it, they just ignore it and complain.

Reasonable-Lynx-2374

this is not a fromsoft issue. how much hand holding do you need them to do?

Jermiafinale

I mean base game equipment works fine if you're using the right equipment Still pretty sure Veterans set is the best armor Marika's Hammer is melting everything it touches

theScrewhead

When you get summoned, check the blessing level, and if it's too low, just knife out. That way, you've only lost the amount of time it takes for two loading screens, rather than a whole attempt at a boss. If everyone just fucks off and doesn't help them, they'll hopefully either realize that they're doing something wrong and look up what, or might *actually* just git gud enough to beat it on their own.

dynamicflashy

I may actually start doing that. Got summoned to the rot boss, checked and the host was 6. I knew the fight would be pointless and it was.

theScrewhead

I've changed my character name to LevelURscadBless, and knife out if it's too low. Hopefully the hosts will actually fucking READ and take the hint.

arcturuz78

How do you check the blessing level of the host?

theScrewhead

Check your Status screen; the Blessing stat tells you the current blessing, not just *your* blessing. Even if you've got 20, since you're in a world with, say, someone at 2, it'll show 2 because that's what your current level is.

arcturuz78

Ah no wonder. I’m level 20 and keeps getting wiped out and hardly do any damage to bosses during coop

AvengingThrowaway

That's not really the issue. Im sure at this point most people understand what they're for and that they're important... They just don't want to suffer through a scavenger hunt where they're constantly forced to use 3rd party applications & websites to both figure out where they are and actually go out of their way to get them.

dynamicflashy

I finished at Scadutree 19 without looking up a single guide.

crayonflop3

Only complete morons need a guide to find a suitable amount of fragments. Modern gamers are the worst. Complain about hand holding and then demand hand holding

sadino

Or maybe it's time to admit it's just not a good system. Like, no one likes the giant souls in DS2, why even try it again in open world game?

AvengingThrowaway

A significant number of players would rather wipe on a boss for multiple hours than spend those same hours constantly alt-tabbing back and forth or shifting focus back and forth to their phone to complete the scoobydoo fragment hunt. It's absolutely a poor system.
