I use the same lure (slightly different color). It's been one of most productive lures in the lake behind my house. I just cast and reel in (not super fast) and might give the pole a little twitch here and there. I'm not a pro but it's been working for me. I'm sure someone will pipe in and tell me how I'm wrong lol.
Not sure weather or not to mention using a leader. I've always used leaders for fishing pike in my parts for this exact reason.
Only downside I've found with these lures (besides weeds) is they seem to get fairly beat up after a few hours of fishing. Start loosing tails or rips in the body of the lure. Other than that, they work like a charm and it's the only thing I've been using for pike
These are some of my favorites they just suck in weedy areas. Caught a 4 pound smallie off one once, just cast and retrieve, I usually retrieve slow and fish bottom
They are a bit inconsistent in the weighting which only effects fast retrieves (lure turns sideways and sometimes just spirals) but they are a great search bait in open water.
Simple answer......chunk and wind. Vary retrieve speed for the proper water depth you wanna fish.

Same experience as this person. They’re like candy to the bay bass in San Diego.
Do they get hung up on grass? I found some of these cheap but normally use a weedless Texas rig due to a lot of underwater grass at my local lake
Yeah they’ll catch the grass. I’ve kind of learned where the grass at in my lake so I know it’s just grass and not a bite lol
I have a bunch of these but they are pretty much unfishable in most spots I fish at due to milfoil.
This dude oils MILFS
As others said cast and retrieve, varying speeds, motions, etc. Can be used to catch bass, crappie, walleye, almost anything
They work for me, however when I’ve fished them I usually land pike, or get bit off by pike. Which is the same except for the landing part.

Definitely tie to a loop knot or split ring, free range of motion to mimic injured bait, use an erratic retrieve; fish love an easy meal.
100% this gotta use a loop knot or the presentation is garbage
I’ve had great experience with them in ponds and smaller lakes. Like the others said, vary retrieves, speed, depth, twitch it…

I’ve had success with a stop and go retrieve.
My experience with storm pre-rigged swim baits is that they are unfishable junk. Just my experience with them…
That was kind of my worry
