Because seeing Barbatos moves like animatronics are cursed.
The thing about Iron Blooded Orphan's Gundam Frame is about how human-like their movement is.
Not at all.
Grandpa moves like regular mobile suits, so it's easier to make a moving statue with it.. Fast, but still robot like. Its not until MK-II we have mobile suits moves like a person.
As sad as I am to know I'll never get to see it IRL, i gotta say that inner frame looks cool as hell. Does anyone know if any of the model kits for the RX-78-F00 have that inner frame?
The only thing that had the frame is the $1000 Chogokin dx set. You could take the armor off of it

Looking up the 1/100 on Dalong, not really close besides just having that typical inner frame look.
You'd probably find something more like it on different RX 78. It kinda reminds me of the pre-built frame from early RG models.
That inner frame looks so cool. I know it's just being dismantled and moved, but I always like to imagine RX-78 is being deployed. Ah well, silly, but there you go.
I never realized it actually had a semi “functional” cockpit
Also a part of me feels like they could’ve done a RG or MG RX-78F00 with a similar inner frame to this
It certainly won't be Kyoto the Gundam Base there is tiny compared to diver city, and there is no room for even a normal gundam statue outside the shopping mall it's part of.
Considering how often it would malfunction and just simply not work in the later days of its run (the second to last day it was open it didn’t work at all) I really doubt it. This thing was built to be temporary and they kept it going for much longer than expected. Saying goodbye is okay.
The parts will definitely be put into storage. You don’t make something like a 1/1 Gundam and just scrap it when you’re done with it.
It remains to be seen if they’ll rebuild it somewhere else. I imagine they’ll want to at least take the opportunity improve on some things if they decide to put it back together.

They're finally making the Gundam at home
Seeing all these pictures of it being disassembled is surreal. I saw it in February, and it was just amazing how large it looked in real life that I don't think any picture could have done it justice without having crossed over the fencing to get closer.
Huh. I did not think it would be such a simple mechanism for movement. Making an actual gundam may not be as much of an arduous journey as I thought...
It is very much possible to do so with a metal that has a combination of the property of spring steel and the density or strength of carbon hardened/carbon steel. If a material like that can be obtained, it may be possible. Either that or recreating metal from meteorites.
Use a systematical gyro followed with ground detection and gravitational detecting system to to apply a knowledge on the current point it needs to be, then apply human-like progamming so that it does such human-like actions to continue and try to remain standing up
I really enjoyed Yokohama. Don’t know if I would have visited if it weren’t for the statue. Hope
It can go up some where else. It’d be sick if it ended up In the US
This one was in Yokohama, the Unicorn Gundam is still at diver city!

1:1 scale RG right here
With included E.R.S (early real grade syndrome)
These are resin kits meant to stand like statues! Not cool scale model robots that can mimic action poses done in the shows!
Lmao what I was thinking too
So it’s a Gundam frame now.
Raise your flag!

Why can’t they just build the barbatos?
No one as the alaydushhds vinanasdnsa bro how do you spell it

I swear japan gunna make irl physco frame and just announce a fully functional nu/unicorn gundam
Sheesh. It's like you want to summon the Outer God to this world or something.
Because seeing Barbatos moves like animatronics are cursed. The thing about Iron Blooded Orphan's Gundam Frame is about how human-like their movement is.
Is it really that bad?
Not at all. Grandpa moves like regular mobile suits, so it's easier to make a moving statue with it.. Fast, but still robot like. Its not until MK-II we have mobile suits moves like a person.
A man can dream though...
Risk of breaking and falling. His waist is too dang sexy!

this is actually true
Put a new armor, and these baby are good as new.
what have you done?! you've summoned the edgelords!!
Says the one with a Heero profile picture.
he was faithful to his goal, plus hr had an actually good show
He had an actually good show? Wait are we talking about Wing here?
yeah....?

That is actually awesome as fuck.

I really wish I could seen it in person
I have. Kinda just was strolling around and came across it. Dude at the entrance was my biggest fan ever. Glad I still have the pictures.
That's awesome!

1:1 Gundam isn't even a Master Grade. That's a Full Mechanics frame.
*Oh the irony*
Can’t believe the went to the trouble to panel line the frame…
And the weathering is so freaking realistic. That's the mark of a true craftsman. Attention to details that nobody might ever see.
I never realized it actually had a semi “functional” cockpit Also a part of me feels like they could’ve done a RG or MG RX-78F00 with a similar inner frame to this
I wouldn't call it fully functional, it was more so just a place to sit. It was never occupied during the shows, obviously.
Yeah I was already kinda aware of that; my fault for not wording it properly mb
https://youtu.be/wPNCj5AfHWY?si=u27Pz9PikKdegizy Around 1:34 the cockpit opens.
There's no way they just permantly scrap it right?
I believe they’re relocating it. So they gotta take it apart and put it back together at the new location.
Where is the new location actually.
Nothing has been announced. Just people speculating. Most compelling thing I've kind of heard is Osaka, in part because of the world's fair in 2025.
Is there a gundam base or something in Kyoto? I think it might be there.
It certainly won't be Kyoto the Gundam Base there is tiny compared to diver city, and there is no room for even a normal gundam statue outside the shopping mall it's part of.

Yeah, wasn't the platform it was located on starting to crumble due to the weight of the Gundam?
Wouldn't surprise me. However maintainance is probably also just really expensive. It's right against the ocean, and saltwater is HORRIBLE for metal.
Where?

What does the Chinese government have to do with this?
Ignore that I didn't pay enough attention And thought this was about the Freedom in China.
Alternate universe Rx-78-2 (Gun boy Wilbur)
I was gonna comment that it looks like the G-Frame frames, but by god youre right, it's Wilbur
Nobody expected For The Barrel reference

The J stands for Joe. Joe Gundam himself
"Can you panel line ABS frames?"
Only with a gel ink pen lmao j/k
This really highlights how little room there would be for a pilot IRL.
Probably still far more than a fighter jet or even a modern tank if you fully crew it
https://preview.redd.it/quf35y0dqsvc1.jpeg?width=3213&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4cf89116e6376a4e07982064cf25d750f42e757
Wish I could have seen it in person 🫡
Where's the damn core fighter?
Core block system!
Even the inner frame of it is sexy :p
I can't believe it's gone https://preview.redd.it/l8xr2xsvyrvc1.jpeg?width=1088&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d211fac141c604417f914eab180ba224e7ca6480
Fans of frames must be lit.
o7 Looks cool as hell to be honest
Is that a cockpit frame?
Yes
This really sucks, however as an engineer this is the coolest thing. The picture shows exactly how it works which is so cool.
Will live forever in our hearts.
The Unicorn gundam at diver city is still worth seeing
It is but it pales in comparison
Ah, so it's a master grade
Rg 1/1 scale looking interesting
Great! Now's the perfect chance to start adding Zaku Parts!
I can't wait until the production models are available.
it's gunboy wilbur 😮
(Life goes on is playing on the background)
I cannot unsee it having high heels.
In the end, it all goes back to them BIG FEET.
On the bright side its not being destroyed its just being moved as well as the store and museum
The gotta release the inner frame as its own kit
All PG frames gonna go back to this
This makes me uncomfortable for some reason. Like I'm seeing something I'm not supposed to.
Are they taking it down? What happened?
It was always supposed to be a temporary attraction, due to salt water and location iirc
It's so sad I wanted to see it when I traveled to Japan 🥺😭
Maintenance i think
No, they're taking it down, it was temporary. Maybe it will move somewhere else eventually but they haven't announced anything so far
You could say the same things about my dreams.
pov: master grades
Is that the maintenance entrance on the chest?
No, cockpit.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
My only regret in life is that I never got to see this thing in person :')
Ay IBO !!!! LESS GOOO. Even when it's getting dismantled it's giving gundam vibes. It's sad watching it go 😢
Seeing all these pictures of it being disassembled is surreal. I saw it in February, and it was just amazing how large it looked in real life that I don't think any picture could have done it justice without having crossed over the fencing to get closer.
gundam frame huh? What if we put Barbatos instead?
Glad I managed to visit Gundam Factory this March before it closed for good. This really hits hard.
Now it looks like it was being used to take over the earth kingdom
The real grade frame was inside every one of us all along.
[F]
Huh. I did not think it would be such a simple mechanism for movement. Making an actual gundam may not be as much of an arduous journey as I thought...
No, the physics still don't work out.
Have you forgotten? Physics can be weird by itself already!
The problem is balancing it.
The problem is making a frame that dosent crumple under its own weight
It is very much possible to do so with a metal that has a combination of the property of spring steel and the density or strength of carbon hardened/carbon steel. If a material like that can be obtained, it may be possible. Either that or recreating metal from meteorites.

Easier said than done. On a smaller scale, Boston Dynamic probably has it down but on a gundam scale, we are decades off.
Yeah, but not a century tho
F
In here from all, what are we looking at?
The inner frame for the life size Gundam they just recently took down
Why/where was it?
Due to upkeep on it they are taking it down, it was located at the Gundam Base in Yokohama.
next time, gadget, i mean, gundam...
RG 1.0
alright, I'd actually buy a model kit of this because it looks kinda sick
im always been amazed that they built it like a gunpla 😅.
Anyone know if there is a Timelapse of it coming apart?
giant rg frame
Those joints are crazy!
*They took my fucking eyes*
those 1st gen rgs are pretty crazy
Damn!! They replying or what
*replacing
Torso area should have a cavity for a pilot.
😢
Smash
Well we can do that so why not just use it to build a gundam🧍(Idk if it’s unpractical)
I want to cry. That had hit me real hard.
Surprised they're dismantling it at all
I really enjoyed Yokohama. Don’t know if I would have visited if it weren’t for the statue. Hope It can go up some where else. It’d be sick if it ended up In the US
Edgar your skin is hanging off your bones
*Creepypasta intensifies*
Was this the one outside Diver City Plaza? That shit was so rad!
This one was in Yokohama, the Unicorn Gundam is still at diver city! https://preview.redd.it/rhufabl76wvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be2fee6291965bacaf2a4e51fbbe9e6243963796
Woah, Gunboy-Wilbur
😭
Wait what happened
Why r they taking it down?
I wonder what they're going to do with all those pieces?
Oh that is gorgeous. That is a superb thing of beauty.
:’(
Have they said where their sending it next?
It's being scrapped
Depressing
EXPOSED FRAME IN MY SOUL SOMETHING SOMETHING IBO
what grade of gundam is it and how much
As sad as this is, it’s really cool that it has an actual inner frame.
So sad. Would have loved to see it in person.
NNNNOOOOOOOOO
rg commercial
How nice of them to replace it with the statue of barbatos rex
Now put gurren lagann on it 🐱
I just thought this was them building a new one and thought they were building an EVA unit
I saw it in person way back in 2016, it was glorious
That’s a different one. This one had a moveable frame
