The slutty pumpkin returns

chaoticallywholesome

They truly succeeded in making the audience feel the awkwardness too

[deleted]

*Chickity china the chinese chicken*

TomTheTrain6902

What is the song?

mickeyxz

One Week by the Barenaked Ladies

undergroundpolarbear

The worst episode of the entire show imo

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Right? Wtf was that episode Lowkey the ending was kinda epic tho with the monkey climbing the empire state

Are_You_486

Life Among the Gorillas? No way, man. Check it. I'm with my brosifs from Cappa and they're like, "Erikson! Let's roll to the strip club." And I'm like, Snap-A-Do!

BrieCheezee

To be honest I absolutely *love* that line from Marshall, it always makes me laugh

debsterUK

It's Steak sauce

rdhingra

“Marshall sidebar… steak sauce, A1 A1, try to keep up”

DaddyCatALSO

the one guy pronounces "sauce" with such a weird accent....

cocksamichholdbread

I think it’s my favorite episode in the entire series.

[deleted]

Steak SAUCE!

Are_You_486

For true...

Are_You_486

Definitely in my top 5.

[deleted]

Zoo or false for me. It’s so so bad.

abacus-wizard

Is that the "mugged by a monkey" episode? Or am I confusing that one with something else?

Ezra_Skywalker

That’s the one.

trickman01

I like that episode.

TomTheTrain6902

Same

DaddyCatALSO

My big problem with that one is, aren't primates in zoos usually behind glass or on islands?

GreekKnight3

Ted's Empire State Building model is a redeeming part of the episode, I would say

SaneSwiftlet

This was the first episode I ever saw, I caught it randomly on cable one night. It did not make me want to start watching the series, but I’m obviously glad I did eventually!

Kimono_Wolf

Definitely the worst episode in my opinion.

Hungryshorty

- Slapsgiving 3 in the last season. - The one where Ted cheats on Victoria - Sunrise? Where Ted lets go of Robin. I also hate the Barney storyline in that episode. - Tick tick tick - Where Robin tries very hard to sabotage Barney and Patrice’s relationship - zoo or false

RangerHaze

Tick tick tick! What! That episode added a lot of depth to the season.

coIdwarkid

Slapsgiving 3 was the one and only episode I’ve only skipped

PaulClarkLoadletter

I don’t like when Robin turns into a balloon. Other than that I tend to just turn it off (and start over) after Ted and Tracy meet at the Farhampton train station.

eyegazer444

That's a great episode up until that balloon ending

MasonDaBoss8

it was really stupid but it was a metaphor

Chucky-BastardDeLarl

*We're a dream a baby's having...*

livinglegend25

That's my favorite episode 😂

baberlay

I never skip episodes, but the one I consider skipping is The Pre-Nup from season 8. Probably the worst episode of the show in my eyes. If you scroll through my post history, I made a post about why some time ago.

eyegazer444

Season 8 in general is pretty skip worthy

[deleted]

[удалено]

eyegazer444

Time Travellers the ending is obviously outstanding but most of the episode is weak. I agree with you about the Ashtray and Weekend At Barney's. The others you listed I still feel are weak compared to other seasons. Just my opinion of course!

FluffyWalrusFTW

Season 6 is way more easy to skip. It has a few moments, but Zoey really ruins that season for me

eyegazer444

Season 6 is a strong season with a bad character, whereas I feel like Season 8 the whole writing of it is weak

FluffyWalrusFTW

Eh I guess to each their own. The whole Arcadian arc was easily one of the weaker season stories imo: Landmarks, Oh Honey/Any episode around Zoey, Big Days. These episodes just seem either forgettable or rememberable for being bad. I will give a few like Glitter, Natural History, and The Captain becoming a main character, but not much else

Imagoat1995

Season 1 EP 2. The one where Ted throws 3 parties for Robin. Can't stand it. And season 2 EP 12 but that's because my disc is scratched and it just skips it

chaoticallywholesome

Why do you not like that episode?

suicidymdfk

because his disc scratched /s

Ok-Sir8600

The purple giraffe, I also hate that episode

felix1053

The last slap on the season finale. Pointless. And I used to skip Marshall dad funeral. After my dad passed in 2015. But I was able to watch it again tho. Cause it brought up old feelings. In a good way

Beta_Ray_Bill

My dad passed in 2006. I sat at his workbench and drank myself stupid. No joke, he framed it with 2x4s, shelved it with OSB, and finished the work surface with leftover linoleum tiles from when we re-floored the kitchen. A couple of posters, a cork board with a calendar, and my little desk across from it. Wouldn't have it any other way.

chief_lookout

My dad passed at the end of 2012, three weeks before Christmas (colon cancer) and that season was soon after that...I just couldn't. I still get really sad when I see episodes from that arc.

flugelbynder

I skip those too normally.

Extra_Cartoonist_377

You need to understand comma's...

NeeNawNeeNawNeeNaww

I never skip any episodes but I’m always tempted to skip the time travellers. It is a brilliant episode but it leaves me feeling empty inside.

MsEwma

I really find time travellers boring

Red_Flames_6319

Well I Skip more than one, and it's the ones with Ted dating Zoey or Jeanette appears for the entire episode. They were honestly the worst girlfriends Ted dated

Nidaavillir

Yeah for me it's always the Rhyme episode, it was cool the first time around but now im not a fan

Scared_Weekend_7979

I actually really liked the rhyming episode. I honestly didnt know the guy who rapped on the bus was Lin Manuel (hope i got that name right). I just think that episode highlights the creativity and talent of the writing crew, just to be able to rhyme, well, for a whole episode while telling funny stories made me like it.

flugelbynder

I WILL not watch the rhyme episode with Lin Manuel. It's so cringe. He is so talented but just makes me shudder.

Duhbulltex54

Anything with Stella, other than Ted yelling at her about Sinatra not singing about Secaucus Secaucus

[deleted]

Why would I skip any episode in this great series?

BrieCheezee

Because Slapsgiving 3 was a complete filler episode and had no value in my opinion

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrieCheezee

I agree with Zoo or False but I thought Say Cheese was important because Ted took a chance on Lily right away when Marshall first started dating her. Plus who doesn’t love the game “name that bitch”

elmris96

filler episodes are some of the best.

elmris96

that's the only right answer

MathyEtSjaap

I see a lot of people saying they don’t like ‘bedtime stories’ and ‘slappointment in slapmarra’, but I think they’re really fun. (Although, after watching bedtime stories I do tend to rhyme everything I think for te next hour , lol) I just watch all of them even the goofy ones. it’s what I like about the show, it can get pretty serious or sweet but it’s also just for laughs.

weirdogirl144

They are fun episodes for me but other people hate them cause they say it’s filler

FluffyWalrusFTW

The show is a sitcom, outside of big, season wide character arcs or 2 part episodes, the whole show is filler really

weirdogirl144

That’s so true

OKresponsibility11

The one where they dress up in asian culture and learn about slaps. So cringe and pointless

dead_PROcrastinator

That was one of my favourites!

abacus-wizard

What?! That's one of my favorite episodes! "Man. I really wanted to slap Barney Stinson..." "Wait, this is to slap Barney Stinson? Oh, okay, yeah, I'll totally help you."

Shogun_Empyrean

I just love how shitty teds advice is haha. "Just pick the spot you wanna slap, and like, try really hard to hit that spot"

Kimono_Wolf

It is pointless I agree but one moment saves it. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boyz II Men".

TheAlphaCarb0n

I couldn't think of anything at first but yes, that episode is absolute garbage.

NeeNawNeeNawNeeNaww

Offended that you don’t like the rhyming one. Probably my favourite episode.

lomoliving

It's the musical for me.... I just can't

bkfu2ok

Which one suits or super date

lomoliving

Suits was what I was thinking of. Totally forgot about the super date lol

ryacual

Girls vs suits could be first episode of series because nothing before it has anything to do with getting remotely close to meeting tracy.....its kinda the first important episode in my opinion. Unless theres an episode called just " suits"

NormalBubble

nah man if he didn’t date robin he wouldn’t have got a butterfly tramp stamp after the breakup, then he wouldn’t have met stella or tony, then he wouldn’t have worked at the university, then he wouldn’t have met tracy’s roommate who recommends tracy’s band for barney’s wedding

ryacual

We don't know that he would never become a professor there.....he would need a job after he found out they werent building gnb building.....people who cant do, teach.....therefore he was destined to become teacher. Would have been better off not meeting tracy anyway.....she is a slightly more feminine ted.

flugelbynder

The musical Suits was Neil being Neil not Neil being Barney. I never cared for it. The whole thing is very well done but I didn't like it. It wasn't Barney.

weirdogirl144

NOOO

[deleted]

Lin-Manuel Miranda is an amazing artist. Sadly that episode is not the best. I don't skip it, but my head takes a moment to adjust to non-rhyming when the next episode starts playing.

Captainbatmanblue

Slaps giving episodes

wolverine6

Just skipped "Mom and Dad" from season 9, when Barney tries to set up his mom and Jerome back up. It was just so awfully cringey.

alittlemoopoint

I don’t skip any rn… but if I had a mind to I would pass by on the 3 parties for Robyn, and when Ted/Barney get hammered and harass Robyn and don.

Extra_Cartoonist_377

I love the don harassment especially after Robin turned the job down first then she let him think he was first choice and left her... it justified the harassment of don. And Robin wasn't harassed, it comes with being in the gang.

LuckyAcanthisitta572

Season 9

mchammer126

I skip the whole Marshall road trip. What a waste of episodes lmao

DisTamaSushi

And I will walk 500 miles..

Mann000

And I would walk 500 more.....

Beta_Ray_Bill

Just to be the man...

TomTheTrain6902

Who walks a 1000 miles to fall down at your door

elmris96

da da da

Anarchy-the-GOAT-666

The One where they are All on the hook. You know, the one with Carrie Underwood. They are All just being jerks in that one

niijuuichi

Gael episodes

reddevilcarlo

I honestly can't watch the series finale, did it twice then never again

elmris96

best part of the show.

vwlou89

Tick, Tick, Tick - the Robin/Barney story is poignant and the ending is so powerful, but the Ted/Marshall Palooza story line gives me SUCH BAD ANXIETY!

tabuu2

The end of the episode when it shows what actually happened during their time at the Palooza is probably one of my favourite parts of the whole show, but I'm also really mad at the writers for doing what they did because hardly anyone in their right mind would do what Kevin did.

debsterUK

You skip Nothing Good happens after 2pm? That's classic HIMYM!

PiergiorgioSigaretti

The Indians jones knight one. I don’t like it

despicablemoon

The one where thanksgiving becomes slapsgiving Idk but the whole timer and altogether just wasn't fun for me

smurphypup

I think it's called Atlantic City. But it's the one where Marshall and Lily almost get married on a boat in AC. Robin wears the bikini shirt. Not sure what it is about it, but it just makes me cringe and i skip it every time

Accomplished_Trick50

We’re under oath, we’re under the oath. Lol

DesiCodeSerpent

Chain of Scream Slutty Pumpkin returns

Jitinchigo

I absolutely skip the episode where Marshall gets stuck on the roof and the kid not only blackmails him, gets a picture of Lily's boobs and $50 for his troubles and walks off with not a single reprecussion to him. Which I believe is the B plot line? Can't remember off the top of my head the A plot line because I've skipped so often now.

BigDaver_

There's only one episode I don't like and it's Bedtime Stories, as you also mentioned. I'd never skip it if I'm rewatching the show but it's the only episode I leave on as background noise

j3ffUrZ

Tick, Tick, Tick.

shivvycake

Why that's probably one of the better Barney episodes?

j3ffUrZ

Oh I agree. But Robin pisses me off so much in this episode.

FluffyWalrusFTW

Even more so than when she tells lily in the finale she should've married ted? robin fucking sucks

StockyWitt

The Naked Man. I don’t like watching approval of sexual assault.

Jesus166

The Bliss one

smellycat579

The one with the rhyming stories for Marvin

TiloDroid

One episode I didn't see yet that I skip is the bar fight episode, I can't stand people lying

JamieMCR81

The finale. Your Mum got sick and died and I’m telling you all this because I want go get with your Aunt Robin! 😒

librarian24

The sexless innkeeper

PrisMattias

The episode that keeps spamming the "Fly of the bumblebee" or whatever it was for all of the three boring stories it narrates. I don't skip any episodes at all, I love the show even after seeing it 6 times, but holy hell "I've gots to" press the "Next" button everytime this episode comes out

BunterTheMage

Lucky Penny and Monday Night Football are basically trash episodes and I never watch them anymore

eyegazer444

Woah dawg Monday Night Football is my favourite episode of the entire series lol. What don't you like about it?

bOpInDeR

Both these episodes are golddd Especially lucky penny, it's a reference to all the crazy things that had to happen for Ted's daughter to be born

BunterTheMage

I mean I understand, and that’s why he named her Penny, i just guess I didn’t find it to be very compelling

[deleted]

[удалено]

BunterTheMage

Again I get it, and I recognize its canonical importance, I just kinda think it’s a boring episode with not enough humor to keep me invested

[deleted]

[удалено]

BunterTheMage

Lolll Swarlize Theron was a delicious callback for sure. Yeah everyone has their own least favorite episodes *shrug*

Oraio-King

yeah monday night football sucks

FluffyWalrusFTW

I agree that lucky penny is weak, but how else would Ted come up with the name for his daughter??

BunterTheMage

Literally anything. Could’ve named her Leia (like he claimed he wanted to) or could’ve named her after Lily, his second closest long-standing friend (because let’s be honest, he saw punchy twice in 10 years; they’re not that close.). Or he could’ve named her after his mother, since he loves rehashing old ideas (I mean, columns, really?). But the one I was really holding out hope for? Empie.

macedao

The one with the last smoke. I hate everything about smoke and that episode is disgusting.

[deleted]

I’m curious, wouldn’t that make you like the episode more? I don’t feel like the episode is condoning smoking, I always felt like it’s “making fun” (probably a better term) of smokers and trying to get them to quit

macedao

Just to see people smoking gives me nausea. I hate being close to a person smelling because of that, I hate that thing that people who was a smoker and quit is seeing like a hero

bookant

>Just to see people smoking gives me nausea. Oh, you're one of *those.* I dated one of you back in the 80s. We'd be in a bar. Someone sitting right behind her chain smoking away all night, not a peep, she had no idea. She could *see* somebody light a cigarette clear across the other side of the building and it's instant drama. "Cough cough cough oh no the smoke is bothering me I can't breathe!"

eyegazer444

I agree, I hated the ret con that the characters were smokers the entire time

tansan11

I mean it wasn’t ever said that they weren’t

braiide

The Burning Bee Keeper or any other episode where its the same story told multiple ways. I remember another one with Lily's art show or something that I also skip.

nessap131

Oh man those are some of my favorite episodes for some reason. Although I am realizing how many episodes like that there are. The one you’re talking about I think is 8.17- The Ashtray. It’s also in 2.3- Brunch and 6.12- False Positive

braiide

Yeah, I’m doing like my 10th rewatch right now and there’s a heap of episodes where the premise is everyone’s take on the same situation and they just tend to drag at this point

Big-Marionberry-6946

The one with the Liberty Bell lick. Its just not my type of episode. Always skip it. But still a good episode.

keytiri

I watched every episode as it came out, but after the ending, I find rewatching difficult. Knowing how it ended makes most episodes cringy, so I skip them all.

Apprehensive-Sir4353

I forget what one it is, but the last season where Marshall is on the bus telling Marvin bedtime stories,

[deleted]

That rhyming episode

Extra_Cartoonist_377

You're part of the problem. Not a real phan.

tansan11

Crazy eyes, I wasn’t a huge fan of the break up saga and The only thing I like about this episode is swarley

The-Berzerker

Tick, Tick, Tick because the whole Palooza story isjust so fucking annoying

Extra_Cartoonist_377

Is isjust a word now?!

The-Berzerker

Wow omg there is a space missing, you‘re so funny dude congratulations

[deleted]

Skip the one where Ted gets beaten up by the girl. Not a fan of assault.

lomoliving

You mean the episode that Ted learns that Krav Maga isn't yoga?

mrocks301

Oh come off it.

eyegazer444

At first i thought you meant when Ted got beat up by the goat 👀

RoderickThe13

What about the one where Ted and Barney get in a fight?

[deleted]

In that episode it wasn’t assault it was a fight. Big difference.

RoderickThe13

Not really. Assault is perpetrating physical harm on another person, it doesn’t matter if it’s during a fight. Case in point, in that same episode the guys that lost the fight try to sue Doug for assault.

polonium_biscuit

Time Traveller

tansan11

Crazy

ryacual

That's funny you skip those two episodes. I like them both. I actually think the storytime episode is one of the better of the last season since it has the whole gang and tells stories we never heard. I either watch them all in order without skipping or just pick an episode at random.....but if I randomly pick one with stella or zoey I'll skip unless it's natural history or oh honey.

supernword69

i skip all the quinn episodes i fucking hate that relationship

haikusbot

*I skip all the quinn* *Episodes i fucking hate* *That relationship* \- supernword69 --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")

PackagingMSU

I skip where marshal’s dad dies because my dad died and I can’t handle the episode

hopelessbeliever

I generally skip sad episodes because that damn show is so good at making you cry.

GreekKnight3

I don't rewatch the crushing ones: "Bad News", "Symphony of Illumination", "Time Travellers" etc I watch a comedy show to feel happy!

RocasThePenguin

Bad News. Just can’t. The rest are fine. I generally skip season 8 and 9 but sometimes I’ll go through it.

Proud_Illustrator319

the one where its like a musical and barney starts singing

StockNext

I'm not watching any of the episodes surrounding Marshall's dad dying. I just can't do it.

Mythosofnothing

I skip the Episode where robin and barney are in a relationship and ted marshall and lily try to separate them It doesn’t entertain me and it feels like the episode goes on for hours

lolj5743

The Finale… Duh. Just pop over to YouTube and watch the alternative ending

Voltvoltvolt27

The one where Ted missed his plane because he was in course because he jumped over the ticket toll in the subway to rescue Barney because he couldn't walk anymore because he was running a marathon because Marshall dared him to do that because Marshall wanted to run but broke his toe because he slipped in the bathroom because Robin surprised him there etc...... It had some funny scenes but dude stop pushing the blame around. You just shouldn't have jumped over!

shadowvox

I skip scenes as opposed to whole episodes. The one that's always skipped is Marshall's soliloquy about the burger. I know it's straight from Amadeus, but man, I cringe just thinking out it.

flugelbynder

I skip most If not all of Stella's episodes. Second date. Slutty Pumpkin returns. There are a few others I'm sure. Season 1 and 2 are GOLD.

ReasonableCoyote34

Most of season 9 honestly. Especially that last Slapsgiving episode. Also that episode with Marshall and the monkey. Forgot what season that was, but it was just too goofy for me

ShinyRhubarb

S1E1, S1E2, S1E18, S1E21, S1E22 S4E16, S4E17 S5E16 S6E13 S7E9, S7E10 The final two episodes There are probably between 20 and 30 more episodes that I've just watched too many times and don't really want to see anymore, but I don't bother skipping them when I put the show on again.

Rad_Ben_Danklin

Y’all skip? Leave the sub

MsEwma

Season 9 and the one with Marshalls fathers funeral

MasonDaBoss8

trilogy time

weirdogirl144

Anything in season 8 or some in season 7 and 6. I honestly just love the first 4 seasons especially season 2 and 3

livinglegend25

I never rewatch the ending, but other answers are, Slaps giving 4, Bedtime stories, and Nannies.

basketballsponge

Any early season 8 episode because the actual plot goes almost nowhere

Croaker715

I skip Sandcastles in the Sand because the ending is a painful scene for me personally. I know it's not a painful scene in and of itself, but it still brings up a very unpleasant memory for me.

Extra_Cartoonist_377

Its blasphemy to suggest such a thing!!! Skipping episodes... *clears throat in a manner such as a barrister in court objecting in the 1795 congress sessions* How dare yous guys!!! And I KNOW I'm not the ONLY one... I'm looking at you... KAREN, and CHAD!!!

Extra_Cartoonist_377

Aaaannnd!... thats a great episode! I would like to hear your reasons as you box up the things in and on your desk, afterward I would like you to turn in your membership card at the front desk, as security politely escorts you out of the HIMYM Fan Club building(the one with no windows next to the Ambassador building...) also, if you would, catch that light switch on your way out, and be sure to let the door hit you in the rearend and let your tie/dress get caught in the elevator doors... for good measure of course.

tzeetzch

I only skip the episode where they all smoke.

DaddyCatALSO

Not really

FragrantLynx

I’m sure it’s been said, but I skip Countdown and Last Words every time

trench999

I don’t skip it but what was up with the guy jumping to his death episode when Nora and Barney are on the balcony. Pretty dark for a comedy show.

LearningStuffIsCoo1

Just skipped my first episode ever and had to come back to this thread to say: "Of Course" The one with Jennifer Lopez. Her acting is cringier than all the other guest actors/actresses combined.
