It's competitive. Advantage is chemical resistance and insulation value. It is terrible at transferring heat- unlike copper or steel. In many commercial applications it doesn't need external insulation. It is also lightweight and easy to cut, and done properly the joinery is very reliable.
The drawbacks- special tools. There is an outside and inside heating iron, and you have only a few seconds to get them out of the way and mash the male and female together. Some position joints are tough. Fitting selection is limited, especially in larger sizes. Expect to use three bushings on bigger tees.

Thatās nice, but do you have one of these?
The simplest shit that you can imagine, and i use a wood burning stove for most the winter. I dont do HVAC after hours. Thinking about replacibg my t-stat with a light switch.
On the heating side I have a 5 zone NTI combi and for the cooling, two stage York 19 seer condensers with a variable speed airhandlers.
I now sell both brands after living with them for a 4 years.
I have a Rheem R98 modulating furnace, RA17 2-stage AC, 4 zone EcoNet (EWC) zoning system. Installed it myself about 3 years ago, been running great ever since
I built my own geothermal heatpump with the waterfurnace Aurora controls. Thatās all we do is geothermal and there are always parts around and older units from changeouts. So instead of paying for a brand new one I made it. Only problem is I have t had the time to dig the ground loop so I am using a makeshift cooling tower for now.
55 gallon drum with a coil of geo pipe in with tiny holes drilled. Hose for pump kit and a 750 CFM greeheck fan. Water flows from the bottom of the barrel flows through the unit and back to that coil of pipe with holes in the barrel. Water sprays out fan blows across. Rinse and repeat
Infoor radiant heat running off a Weil Mclain Ultra boiler, which also runs 3 First Company hydro air units connected to 3 Heil 16 seer condensers. 45 gallon Superstor indirect. 2 Lifebreath 95max HRVs. I also have a Weil Mclain GV boiler piped in as a backup to the Ultra. My shop has a Laars combi boiler with infloor radiant, First Company hydro and Heil condenser.
I have a ducted mutsibishi hyperheat. I didnt install. Previous homeowner installed. Did ok but it really needs to be a half ton bigger. Barely keeps up anytime it gets warm. When it quits im putting mitsubishi splits in everywhere. I like to oversize them a bit because i wanna be able to keep the house 65 if i want in the summer and 76 in the winter if i want.
1991 Lennox signature series. Put 3 lb of r22 with leak stop, new cap, hard start and contactor in when we bought the house 9 years ago because it was roughing rough and dimming lights. Asked 8k of the cost of the home to leave it. Plan was to get the rest of the year outta it and swap it, but it never has issues cooling or heating and the bills are shockingly low from it. New plan is swap with it Bryant a month before we sell.

Ran out of tape. Figured I could use the fresh air. š¤·š¼āāļø
Itās good for the gas station farts to exit the premises
Obviously not my air handler; but hereās my boiler and snow melt system.

Iāll be damned.. it IS a lama holding a baguette!
Canāt say Iāve seen a boiler piped with pvc.

I hadnāt seen that yet, seems like a decent system. Whatās the advantage over copper? Price?

I busted a nut.
I literally just have a 3 ton Armstrong package š¤£ I salute you
Plain Jane Goodman w gas furnace
Cheapest most basic. Repairs are easy, parts available and payback for a āhigh efficiency ā system isnāt worth it to an average home.
Svz24 mitsubishi gets the job done in my spray foam igloo
Ducane single stage 80 with heat pump. Works great, costs almost nothing to run and wasn't much more than that to install.
Electric baseboard, and no AC.
The simplest shit that you can imagine, and i use a wood burning stove for most the winter. I dont do HVAC after hours. Thinking about replacibg my t-stat with a light switch.
I have a Montgomery wards 2 stage heat with a 8 seer 3 ton condenser with a ecm condenser fan with head pressure control
GE (Trane) Natural draft from 1983,..... House fan, no AC
Single or 2 stage? I got a tam9 and ge condenser
2 stage with either 5 or 9 speed blower and single speed flow center
Let me hook you up up with the 7 series with variable speed flow centre lol
Nah, to technical. I like the simple stuff.
I have an climatemaster split system here.

WeatherKing 60mbtu two stage NG furnace. 1.5T Kenmore, might be older than me.

Mines more of a "never drive mechanics car" situation. I slapped mine in and called it a day.

Trane Tem6, xr16 2speed condenser, 824 tstat. If I had the attic room to setup zoning I would have gone full variable TAMX/XV.
I know Iām gonna get crucified but I have a mr cool universal unit. No complaints
