Brian Cox would be good plus he narrates the McDonald's commercials.

Biff1996

He is a fantastic actor!

Psychological26

From Hannibal to Loomis. I like it.

mustard_tiger_420

For real though, Willem Defoe would actually be sick as fuck.

NoIllustrator7645

“DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I’VE SACRIFICED?!”

Walker_Slayers

Oh yea that would be good

Britneyfan123

It’s dafoe

Noe_Wunn

Hmm.... Patrick Stewart?

Fickle_Manager9880

Yes!

This is the only answer

[deleted]

Man..... What an answer. It's perfect

jacobeatsavocados

In my opinion, Donald Pleasance was the only role for Dr. Loomis. He was perfect for him. Noyone else would've given Loomis that feel. If anyone else played him, I'd probably like his iconic character less TBH

[deleted]

thing is DP made a lot of changes to Loomis when compared to the character as written in the script so to speak, and on top of that much of the iconic stuff comes from sequels. I think the character is bigger than DP and shouldn't be wasted just due to the actors death but I agree I'd like the character less had he initially been acted by someone else.

jacobeatsavocados

true i guess but i love DP's loomis feel in the film

[deleted]

I can't imagine I'll ever prefer a Loomis over one of DP's versions but ultimately Loomis is a key part of this franchise now long neglected and is also one who isn't just fanservice but actively adds, not just a unique dynamic but a whole lot of narrative and character depth to Myers, and therefore the series. I don't think he should be in every film or anything but I do think after Ends they should just properly recast it again and let it stick for a few films. Having that dynamic of a returning protagonist in Loomis, yet allowing for any ideas to take up the bulk of each film's plot (as with the freedom the franchise had in the 80s) would be much appreciated by most imo. And again, this is an iconic character who has been screwed around ever since DP left the role, H20 is fine and understandable and they didn't make any changes to the character there but then we get the uneven portrayal in RZH1, the technically in character but not remotely what anyone wanted version from RZH2 and the incredibly out of character much diminished (in importance) H18/Kills version... I'd say it's almost a necessity the series make up for this a little with Loomis, and you could go any route from having him appear in a new sequel, to reinventing the character for a new timeline, to doing a prequel in Smith's Grove. He easily has the most narrative potential and genuine worth to the story out of the non-Myers cast. At the absolute bare minimum I would want him to be able to appear in a bigger role after Ends given just how much this trilogy has diminished him whilst trying to replace him (unsuccessfully) with Laurie.

jacobeatsavocados

I forgot about Rob Zombie's "Halloween". Dr Loomis's portrayal in RZH1 is only one of the things in the that tick me off in his films. Try not to think about Rob Zombie's god-awful reboot. RZH2...don't remind me of it. I do want him to possibly be brought back somehow. With the CGI things they've been doing these days and bringing back Audrey Hepburn from the dead for a commercial, I doubt they wouldn't be able to have a cameo from an older Doctor Loomis.

[deleted]

No I don't want a cgi Loomis, I'm a bit tired of the half arsed cameos he's given and like I say the most recent version is very out of character. Besides that is just fanservice, but bringing Loomis back properly for a bit comes with genuine benefits to the film and the series. Re cast him properly, let it stick for a few films, free the character from the current restrictions (mostly fans) have placed on him and get all the benefits of the characters influence on the plot and dynamic.

Fickle_Manager9880

I seriously thought I read “Christopher Walken,” and then convinced myself he’d be perfect as Loomis.

DreddByDawn

Oh my goodness, you're TOTALLY right! Pardon the pun.

EvilMeanie

Walken with his Max Schreck hair and the khaki trench coat talking about Michael's evil is now the one thing in all the world that I need the most. If I had a genie, I would use all three of my wishes to make sure this could happen.

timestoneduh

Bryan Cranston

54321Blast0ff

I love Cranston, I mean who doesn’t? He’ll go down as an acting legend, but I’d bet he’d be the first to say that he wouldn’t fit the Loomis role.

warriorlynx

I second that

Vince0926

Tony Shaloub (Monk)

Hyperfangxz

The ghost of Donald Pleasence is the ONLY way to go

DreddByDawn

I've often joked about this at work, force ghost Donald is a go ahead for me lmao.

[deleted]

I could see Graham McTavish playing a young Loomis

TheStranger113

I was intrigued by the description of Loomis in the Halloween Returns script as being Gary Oldman-like in appearance. Of course, that would have to be shortly after the events of the original in the reboot, but that would be awesome. Really they should just make that movie. 😋

NathanLocke

Donald Pleasance just had that mad-scientist, creepy vibe. I LOVED him in everything I've seen him in. He was a demon tempting Jesus in the desert in "The Greatest Story Ever Told." He was the near blind map guy in "The Great Escape". He was the crazy father in "Will Penney". He was one of the best Bond villains in "You Only Live Twice." The man was creepy enough that even Michael was wary of him. No one could replicate that.

hermitagepeak

Mike Myers (the actor)

Darkmania2

how has not had a cameo in a Halloween movie yet?

No_Acanthisitta9981

Fun fact: Apparently Jamie Lee Curtis actually wanted to get Mike myers to appear in Halloween h20 as a cameo. The scene would play out with Laurie thinking she sees Michael in a building window reflection but when she turns around it would be revealed to be the real life Michael myers instead.

Britneyfan123

Ahhh that would have been perfect

KISSArmy7978

Morgan Freeman

Gojir4R1sing

Christopher Plummer if he was still alive.

FlatulentSon

Vincent Price Or Peter Cushing

[deleted]

Id like to see a John Malkovich version of Loomis. And Dennis Hopper, if he was still alive.

BingoBarkington

Jake Gyllenhaal would make for a good younger Loomis. Watch Nightcrawler his intensity and crazy eyes. He’d bring some crazy energy to the role.

Essay-Dismal

Robert Englund

Batwing20293

I mean he kinda was a Loomis character in Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

TheProlleyTroblem

Michael Shannon

Spaceinvader6424

GARY OLDMAN!!!!!

[deleted]

I'd cast Nicolas Cage as Dr. Loomis. Have him play an old broken down version of the character, kind of like the character he played in *Pig*.

Kurt Russell

Robert mitchum. I mean donald pleasance was perfect and i don’t know of anyone who could have done a better job as _that_ dr loomis, but i’d love to have seen what mitchum would have brought to that role. Or christopher lee. Edit: this is for the original 1978 halloween

MissLady1985

Ben Kingsley

Spaceinvader6424

GARY OLDMAN!!!!!

Bennyhanna5682

Ewan McGregor would be cool

[deleted]

I suppose he would do okay as long as he put on a little weight. He doesn't have to copy the exact look besides the coat but I wouldn't want him looking anything like his Blofeld (who was also previously portrayed by Donald Pleasence).

DreddByDawn

Yeah, it sprung to mind for me when I put 2+2 together realising he'd already done well portraying a role DP already did. I agree, although his outfit, layering & facial hair definitely made Christoph look a little chubbier as Dr. King Schultz in Django, movie magic! I would love a different twist on the role too, he always has a way of bringing his own way in the best way possible. He could don everything other than a fully balding head. He's rocked short hair before and it looks well, he would need to bring something different though.

mustard_tiger_420

Adam Sandler or David Spade. Maybe Rob Schneider if he wasn’t too awfully busy.

[deleted]

Chris Pratt because he's so cool.

QuakerOatz

I see what you did. Here's an upvote.

[deleted]

Danny DeVito

dontyieldbackshield

Daniel Craig

nightgoat85

I like both the Waltz and Cox suggestions. I guess it really depends on what take you'd have on Loomis. Donald Pleasance's Loomis was basically a Brothers Grimm character. He hardly says anything remotely Academic. Malcolm McDowell really didn't have any take, he just had costume changes then did a complete 180 in the sequel, before taking another 180 back in the third act.

Cocainepapi0210

If they do a remake and cast a younger Loomis I think James McAvoy can pull it off

Shakespeare-Bot

If 't be true they doth a remake and did cast a younger loomis i bethink james mcavoy can pull t off *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`

701921225

I think it needs to be an actor in their 50's, who has some level of class and certainly maturity to them. It needs to be someone who when they talk about the evil within Myers, you believe it. There are so many actors who could read Loomis' quotes, and come off like they're trying too hard...it needs to be natural.

[deleted]

GreatCaesarGhost

He would be great but maybe a bit old to base a new series of movies around.

Darkmania2

Dana Carvey?

[deleted]

Someone people don't recognise as easily as some of these A-listers suggested here, not necessarily an unknown but not an A-lister. Loomis needs to reclaim himself as a character, too many people see him as just "Donald Pleasance" and it's held him, the writers and the films back. I mean ffs, that he had the exact same history in the army as his actor and the exact same death date is a bit much imo.

Agreeable_Fill_3356

Well, John capenter originally wanted Peter kushing, so I honestly think he would be the best bet! If he was still alive Rest In Peace

Puzzleheaded-Alarm21

Liam Neeson just so he can say I don’t know where you are but I will find you and I will kill you

No-Stand-501

John Malkovich

Richard Brake as Dr Loomis would be a legendary performance.

Conventional choice: Tom Wilkenson Unconventional choice: Toby Jones Cast against type: Ricky Gervais Gender swap: Tilda Swinton

shirinsmonkeys

Ben Kingsley is the only correct answer!

[deleted]

I don't like Rob Zombie's Halloween all that much but I thought casting Malcolm McDowell was genius. It's a shame the third act he's mostly just reciting Pleasences lines.

Odd_Cycle_6276

I know it’s frowned upon but a Loomis series of his younger years would be cool with a younger actor.

thephilosopherstoner

Patrick Stewart
