I could say the same about teenagers today. Every generation has teens mimicking adult fashion. That’s going to make them look older. Not much has really changed, tbh. Other than clothes and technology, you could easily still see a video like this with teens today lol
Really?? I mean, yes, to the insta hoes who use makeup like they're in vogue. But otherwise, it seems like every time I drive by high schoolers now, I swear they get younger and smaller
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. The generations before me always looked older at the same age in photos, and kids today look even younger than we looked at the same age. Seems like newer generations age slower and you can literally see it when you compare high schoolers over time.
Just to play devils advocate I think the issue isn’t even entirely with the specific word as much as it’s you calling teenagers insta hoes.
Calling teenagers of today instahoes is probably the issue.
Edit: sorry just to be clear, I get what you mean on both ends. I think people tend to not react well to calling teenagers those names lol
Aside from that one dude that did the crank face, I'd heavily disagree. These all look like late teens or young adults. No one looks even 20, and with that one exception no one looks over 18.
its probably the contrary. the diet today is much better, less toxic. kids eat better, sleep better and have better access to healthcare. and using dysgenic as a word is absolutely outdated.
Back then none of us would have ever believed how completely different the world would be in the next 20 years. I remember thinking I was hot shit because I got one of the Sony discman with cassette adapter for my 81 Blazer and we spent hours driving back and forth across the railroad tracks proving to dozens of friends that it wouldn’t skip and it actually worked. I only worked at food lion part time in high school and it seemed like I had so much money back then 😭😭😭
When your feed was what other people wrote on the bathroom wall about that whore Amanda and a DM was passing a note in class. You lil fuckers don't realize that you didn't need social media for news to pass through school fast as fuck. Memorizing phone numbers and having to pass information to Bill through friends that you'll be at the park later.
Everything worked out without the need of tiktok or text messages. We had the Internet we just didn't care, people could find you based on your behavior. If I couldn't find a friend, I'd just visit the places I knew they'd probably be and eventually find them.
Finding weed could take hours sometimes and that's what we'd do for an afternoon and it'd always be shit but we'd get it. Then we would have to find that one guy in our group that could roll a blunt and he'd always be happy as long as he was in the cipher. Then, we'd hit up the Getty for a slushie and play basketball.
You think being connected all the time is convenient and almost required but having to use your wits to get in touch with friends and everyone meeting up by chance or through habit, you'd go out of your to find the people that weren't there and you'd make sure you'd find them. Living through a time with and without Internet and social media for 20 years on both sides, I prefer the years without it. Sure I can reach millions with this stupid phone and I'll probably never meet 99.9999999% of you, I'd always choose hanging out in arcades and smoking shit weed with friends.
>Finding weed
Aw man... y'all didn't have a dude named Red that hung out in the empty lot about two blocks from the ABC (liquor store)? I thought EVERY city had one.
Easy, they might report you to the mods as being suicidal and you'll get that special message that someone is worried about you and provide you a safe space of your own.
The last point in history where kids were (relatively) well socialized with one another. Now, they can speak to the whole world.. but struggle to order food at a restaurant. (For context, I am Gen Z and i lack any real social skills)
I was talking with a friend about this a few days ago. My oldest son just graduated high school. My friend and I were discussing how when we were younger, people moved, etc. and you fell apart as you grew older. For my son, most of his social circle is online. He has a close circle of 5-6 friends from school, but a large network he interacts with daily online. The moving away, and losing contact won't exist for him, because they'll be as distant as they have always been. I'm really curious to see how his generation and those after develop socially with that dynamic. It is vastly different than when I graduated in 98.
I was that kid who wore the boonie hat, purple unbranded tee-shirt, baggy camo cargo pants, and some sort of hiking-style/mil style boot.
I tried too hard to get attention and then pretended like I wasn’t trying to get attention, told too many jokes - most at the wrong time, talked a lot of smack and was really nice to the teachers so they let me get away with stuff.
I also installed unreal tournament and the og GTA on the school server so it was accessible in any classroom.
And Netscape existed.

They're happy because those kids could expect to get a job that wouldn't bankrupt them.
EDIT: I want to say it seems unlikely that this has anything to do with social media.
Graduated high school in 92. Was a great time to go through school in a lot of ways and not so great in others. I look back on these days with a lot of fond memories.
What does social media have to do with it? Kids are still mugging for the camera and doing weird dances in the hallways for attention. Only difference is the tech they are using to record themselves.

The good ole days. Simpler times
Got my bike stolen. Expensive skateboard stolen. Threatened by gang members across the street. Nearly got my ass beat for being in the wrong clique. Stole water from neighbor's hose so I could flush the toilets because mom forgot to quit wasting money and pay the bills.
Such a great time to be alive.
That looks exactly like my high school but mine obviously didn't had 90' aesthetic. I truly don't understand y'all and I finished high school 3 years ago, not long ago and we all had cellphones and social media. Y'all are just fueled with nostalgia.

That's not what it was like, lol. I lived in the 90s, in an affluent school. Nobody ever brought a big ass camcorder to school, or cameras, etc.
If anything, people bought disposable cameras, but that was it.
Those huge cameras are likely for school projects, etc. Something the school pays for, like yearbooks, but maybe an end of the year movie, or something, to give a film class a thing to edit, etc.
Not something people just carried around as a way to be social... that's insane.
I’m glad I lived those years when we actually had to approach females. Talk on the phone at home with land lines. Meeting up at the mall buying cd’s and dvds on Tuesday’s. Is 80’s and 90 folks are just a different breed compared to these new pansies
Ahh the days before society collapsed in on itself and everyone became the narcissist ruler of their limited lil social media universes. I guess there are an infinite number of them after all
Hah, not in the UK. [90% of schools in the UK have school uniforms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_uniforms_in_England#:~:text=School%20uniforms%20in%20England%20are,roughly%20%C2%A3212.88%20per%20child.).
Progress in technology and communication but detrimental in other fields. But nothing is perfect. And this is coming from someone who is very limited in social media presence.
We're honestly not salty. Or at least I'm not. I feel bad that kids are being exposed to social media. We allow mega-corporations to manipulate and harm children because it's profitable. I hope it turns into a passing fad that younger generations look down on.
Progress in technology and communication but detrimental in other fields. But nothing is perfect. And this is coming from someone who is very limited in social media presence.
This kind of reasoning is why younger generations are so depressed. Because they think they can’t change anything because they’re “dumb brats”. Kids are the future.
That’s how it’s been throughout history. The younger generation is called dumb and doesn’t understand anything about the real world. Then as they get older they have the knowledge and the drive to make a difference. You should teach the younger generation what you learned and give advice, but also trust that they know how to make a positive change in the world for the future.
Honestly some of these guys could have done with the potential embarrassment from someone posting their behavior online
It might have made them better people
Going to school in the 90s early 00s was great. I feel bad for kids that were going to school in the times schools were starting to get shot up. And smart phones.
My time! And gel in my hair! Finished highschool in 94 and this is pretty accurate
I don’t miss the greasy, shiny foreheads.
It gets to 104 out here and I was wearing 3 flowers hair grease , my head was burning 🥵
Class of 94 unite!
Yep def has that mid 90s vibe lol
3 flores… if you know, you know
I can smell this comment
Immediately.
DAX man myself.
Look at these kids with their cameras. Why can’t they just live in the moment?
Those are the Yearbook students filming for memories. And here you go.
Same reason they don’t today. Vanity.
r/woosh
I only saw 2 kids there with a camera.
r/Woosh
They had "society"

Insta hos might have something to do with it 🤔
People are so soft here. I was replying to a person who's name is nipple queefs but people get their knickers in a twist of the word hoe

That's just you getting old
I prefer the term aged 🍷 But yes lol
Not to pile on, but I’m pretty sure that person is right. I’m a professor and I swear even my college students look like children.
I think just the opposite. Steroids and hormones in the our food/cattle is making them all mature faster than before.
You're saying that as if 90% of them aren't dairy free/gluten free/vegan
Vsauce made a video about this!
We watched a lot of saved by the bell..
I used to spend summers at my grandparents. Almost all old people in the neighborhood. Spent so much time watching saved by the bell.
Aside from that one dude that did the crank face, I'd heavily disagree. These all look like late teens or young adults. No one looks even 20, and with that one exception no one looks over 18.
High fructose corn syrup and crappy diets make current students look dysgenic. They were fed differently back then.
No we weren’t. We lived off pop tarts and processed cheese
Idk why your being down voted I didn't see one overweight kid
its probably the contrary. the diet today is much better, less toxic. kids eat better, sleep better and have better access to healthcare. and using dysgenic as a word is absolutely outdated.
I can’t tell if you’re joking or not.
what is your issue
newborns born today have microplastics in them and youre going to say our diet is less toxic?
You’re my issue. You’re completely wrong and don’t seem to know it.
rentfree
Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn’t sure if you’re a troll or a moron. Now I know it’s both.

Well, if it helps, it’s actually been 30 years
Looks like some thriving 90's kids. I miss my childhood.

Song absolutely does not fit video… 😂😂😂 wtf
Original audio would have been preferred

You're right... I'm trembling in fear!
In what year do think boomers were born? I'll give you a hint, we didn't peak with bottle flipping and eating tide pods.
70’s
Baby boomers, often shortened to boomers, are the generation of people born between 1946 and 1964.
I am so grateful I got to live through high school without cell phones and social media
What in the 1997 is going on here
No worries, MTV was around to make teenagers dumber.

Millennial here. I feel awkward ordering food sometimes, too. We're all human my guy.
Watching this and wondering, did anything actually improve with the invent of internet and cellphones? These were, unarguably much simpler times.
Just people living their lifes
Is that Vin Diesel in a tank top?
Yeah mate I’ll just mozy down here and enjoy the comments. Shit.

The tik tok dance girl at the end was ahead of her time
Yeah people didn’t ever dance before TikTok
She danced so that others could SLAAAY
Back in the 90s, only people slaying were playing D&D.
Unfortunately at the time they were making fun of her by filming her. She was a mentally unwell girl. This is from my gf’s high school in Solon, OH.
Aww :(
Needs redub in Suger Ray
I smiled through this entire thing!!!! Class of ‘02 🥴🥴🥴👵👵👵
Definitely

Flashbacks! What a time to be alive, life will never be this care free.
Talking on the cordless for hours
The bathroom walls were social media lol
The world you were born in no longer exists.
Tell me the 90's ain't the pinnacle of civilisation.
Fuck do I miss that time.
So many 90210 sideburns
And everyone was happier
Excuse me, we had AIM. Best social network that ever existed
But did you have a xanga, and mIRC?
Soooo much better!! 99
Lmaoo this is the most cherry picked high school to represent the 90s. For most it did not look like this
Where's all the black kids? Not even 1 in the background.
A time when we were all dorks! Happy dorks, living in bliss. What a time.
Watch the movies that came out of that time period to see what it was actually like. # Kids, Ken Park, American History X, and Bully
and if you didn’t go to school because you lived in “that part” of the country… then Gummo.
Fucking Gummo reference here of all places * chefs kiss* (after consuming a plate of spaghetti and a glass of milk while soaking in the bathtub of course )
Anyone remember Tart?
Kids is fair but Am His X is highly stylized. Not sure about the others.
Racism, gangs and school shooting.
You forgot, "But I'm a cheerleader." "SLC punk." "Fight club." "Empire records."
A homemade movie in real life could never capture real life. See films made in Hollywood by adults with scripts that took months and multiple takes and camera setups
I watched Ken Park at a festival when I was a naive 16 years old. I was in shock, lol! I still think about it sometimes...
Graded 2002. Loved the 90s. Miss it every day. Way to confusing and to mich shit going on now.
I’m getting strong GED vibes from this post.
Its weird not to see anyone with a cellphone on their hand
First kid is the living incarnation of Eddy from ed Edd n eddy
And here I was always thinking that most actors that play high school students look way too old. Apparently the casting is absolutely on point.
What’s the name of the background song?
I graduated in 2002, but this feels so right.
I was looking for Adam Sandler lol
Finished highschool in 2001. I remember when the "top 8" thing started on myspace. It was the beginning of the end. Thank god digital camera's were like 40 total pixels.
I was class of 01, Highschool was hard enough, I can’t imagine social media thrown in the mix.
They're happy because those kids could expect to get a job that wouldn't bankrupt them. EDIT: I want to say it seems unlikely that this has anything to do with social media.
I graduated in 2005 and lol at this comment. Maybe these guys squeaked by right before my time but it didn’t last long.
What's the name of this track? I can't remeber it it even if my life depended on it
They will never post the bad side you know
I mean, would they show bullies ? Would they show who caused to mass shootings ? No.
Yes, I agree!
They still look older than I ever did in highschool.
damn, the graphics on the TV wasn't that bad. I can't watch this for more than a few mins
Graduated high school in 92. Was a great time to go through school in a lot of ways and not so great in others. I look back on these days with a lot of fond memories.

In the 90s we didn’t have competition from all over the interweb so you hardly ever saw anything cool. So when you did it was really a big deal!
That looks exactly like my high school but mine obviously didn't had 90' aesthetic. I truly don't understand y'all and I finished high school 3 years ago, not long ago and we all had cellphones and social media. Y'all are just fueled with nostalgia.

I will never stop being thankful of growing up without social media or cameras in every pocket.
Seniors in 1990 would be ~51 today Freshmen in 1999 would be ~38 today So they're not *old* just middle-aged today

Class of 2000
Yep, that's how it was. Kids having fun, not looking at their stupid phones, because no one had phones.
I went to high school from 94-98. This brought back some memories.
So good, before woke retards.
That's not what it was like, lol. I lived in the 90s, in an affluent school. I’m glad I lived those years when we actually had to approach females. Talk on the phone at home with land lines. Meeting up at the mall buying cd’s and dvds on Tuesday’s. Is 80’s and 90 folks are just a different breed compared to these new pansies
Ain’t nothing going on but the bomb a$$ rap song!….
Ahh the days before society collapsed in on itself and everyone became the narcissist ruler of their limited lil social media universes. I guess there are an infinite number of them after all
This looks more like 2000s
That Video Camera is 90's
Cuz public schools always have the most up to date tech in their yearbook club, right next to the ditto machine.
Even then the asians were in the library doing their homework.
Some Long Island energy happening here
They look old af
wtf it sucks
Would be a bit boring imo
One of the posters says 2003. I don't think this is all the same school or taped on the same recording device.
Girl at the end doing tik tok dances this is fake (edit I forget people forget what sarcasm is)
Yeah, it definitely took 2000 and 20-something years before ANYONE did that dance anywhere.
Hah, not in the UK. [90% of schools in the UK have school uniforms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_uniforms_in_England#:~:text=School%20uniforms%20in%20England%20are,roughly%20%C2%A3212.88%20per%20child.).
Before “social media”..
Seems about the same as 2020s
Second dude for sure plucks his eyebrows
What has it to do with social media?
Because old people are salty about progress
Social media is not “progress”. It’s different, but it’s not progress lol.
Fair enough
Wait are you saying social media is progress as in a good thing that has made things better? Lol
Progress in technology and communication but detrimental in other fields. But nothing is perfect. And this is coming from someone who is very limited in social media presence.
Because ageist dumb brats think they have the world by the balls because they're young.
This kind of reasoning is why younger generations are so depressed. Because they think they can’t change anything because they’re “dumb brats”. Kids are the future.
Then they better figure out how the world really works while getting over their entitlement and ageist superiority complex.
Today's schools wouldn't allow most of the clothing worn in this video...lol
Sorry, that is just not true.
Honestly some of these guys could have done with the potential embarrassment from someone posting their behavior online It might have made them better people
You realize the internet did exist, and we were posting shit about people using AIM and message boards. Live journal anyone? Xanga?
Own my house at 40 no mortgage not sure you were being a fick but anyways. Have fun with life.
You only own one house?
Going to school in the 90s early 00s was great. I feel bad for kids that were going to school in the times schools were starting to get shot up. And smart phones.
Notice how masculine and manly the men looked back then??? And in shape!
This generation grew and became useless to the American society. Change my mind
