I spent about 5 hours yesterday trying to find them all but couldnāt find two and decided to just give up and went to do some Merlin trials. Iām determined to finish it today.
I was hell bent on doing the game without looking anything up and it wasnāt until I was finishing up and trying to 100% everything I finally caved. (I think I got like 80-some% done before I caved so I call that a win lol and one was b/c mine has a common glitch and I needed reassurance I wasnāt losing my mind)
Awesome! I did too and I felt so good about myself. Didnāt really like the reward though. But I appreciated the challenge, it was really fun! Hearing the dumb little keys going āhi!!!!!!ā was the best
Open book means you are allowed to use notes on a test to help you find the answer and it wouldn't be considered cheating. The gaming equivalent to an open book test would be using a mechanic that is built into the game to help you find the answer.
Just because you know where the key is doesn't guarantee you can get it into the lock. In 35 years of gaming it has only been recently that people have started calling the use of guides "cheating". Use of strategy guides and GameFAQs used to be normal. Knowledge of a thing does not translate directly into the skill to do the thing.
I think the strategy guides and gamefaqs that you are talking about are a little different than what people in this thread are talking about. Looking up how to do something if you are stuck and learning different strategies is different than looking up the locations/answers to a quest. The only goal of this side quest is to find the keys. Looking up the locations is definitely cheating, especially when you don't have to. It's not a bad thing though. Games that have big maps are going to be confusing and it's just easier to not have to put in hours and hours of work when it could take a couple hours at most.
The Zelda Ocarina of Time Prima Strategy Guide literally has the location of every gold skultulla and heart piece. Most GameFAQs have collectibles guides.
With the Dadaelian Keys the quest starts before you are even capable of finishing it. So yeah, I would fully expect people to look it up at some point as 3 of the keys cannot be retrieved before you learn Alohamora. Keys aren't hard to find, sure. Revelio makes finding the cabinets pretty easy. But the 3 last cabinets are outside of revelio range to make the discovery on your own that you cannot reach them. Research isn't cheating, using glitches, cheat codes, or hacks is cheating.
Like I stated previously, it depends on what you are looking up. Searching the locations of any collectible is almost always considered cheating because you are using something that isn't a mechanic in the game to find answers which completely gets rid of the skill aspect of finding collectibles. It's different when it is a strategy in the game (for example, spell combos in HL). Searching spell combos can help you but you still need skill in order to complete the quest. It may not have been cheating years ago, but it is now. However, again, it isn't a bad thing. Think of it this way. If it makes the quest easier to complete and it isn't a mechanic in the game, it's cheating. If it doesn't change the difficulty, it isn't cheating.
I canāt remember but I donāt think so. Also you can finish the game and then do this quest if I remember correctly. Itās basically just and open world finish up all the things when youāre done all the quests.
Yeah I understand that. It just wonāt feel good if that quest will be there for so long but Iād have completed the main quests :D Canāt explain it, but I need to do the side quests first
Me too!! I have 99% completion and still havenāt finished the main quest. All side quests are done. Just waiting VERY IMPATIENTLY for the Nintendo update.
I honestly didnāt know people cheated (look up locations for this quest).
Yes it may be tedious but once you master the unlocking spell, finding all keys should be a breeze.
I looked them up for the Demiguise locations (just wanted level 3 unlock asap lol) but this one I didnāt think to! I was just kinda doing it when I came across them but never sought them out.
Congrats u just revelioed throug every room just like I did... nothing special and not even a special reward... ššš

Did anyone use the Arresto memento trick with these?
As someone who ācheatedā for the last few, Iām glad I did as the reward wasnāt even worth it to me.
I go until Iām really stumped & then look it up. I never feel bad about thatāa game should be challenging but not drive me to utter frustration.
Didnāt know you could cheat in a single player gameššš
You could look it up online. But this is probably the dumbest quest that they have. All that work, and you just get some stupid little outfit.
Same, revelio in every room lmao
Its not a childrenās game its made for every kind of fan no matter the age
I managed it too, well done!! šš
There are walkthroughs for this?! Lol. Just use revelio.

I mean good job, but walkthroughs aren't cheating
Wholeheartedly agree

Define cheating?
Looking up the locations of the keys
Gamers have weird definitions of cheating these days. We used to just call that smart gaming.
Smart gaming? I have never heard of that term before. It makes sense why this is called cheating though cause you are looking up the answers.
Explain open book test š

I have 1 left and the urge to cheat is strong. I found the rest by myself. The problem is, I don't know which one I am missing.
Same
I just used revelio lol
How do you cheat? I went exploring the whole castle for them and I don't even use it, not my style.
Cheat is the wrong word. You can look up the locations on the internet, there are plenty of āgame guidesā to help if youāre stuck on something.
Oh! Thanks!
Same. Didnāt even think people would cheat for this.
Man i still need 3 im guessing behind the locked doors and i still donāt have the spell to open them!
All 3 of em. Once it becomes Halloween you can learn the spell to unlock.
I have found all except ONE. I really want to do it by myself, but Iām close to giving up š
Same I had to look it up. It was in a super random area I had somehow never been in.
I wonder if a quest will take me thereā¦ I dont want to finish the game before I have done this quest

But isnāt it already out? Are you waiting for the next one
Omg I have been busy for the last week or so and havenāt played! Going now!
Same, I just canāt find that last damn cupboard.

Sameš¤£ Back when I played this I didnāt know there were even cheats for HL quests lol. It does totally feel like a childrenās game!
