There's also the fact that the story seems insanely implausible. It takes time to tie people up and it's not a gentle process that won't wake them up.

My lack of offense at that does NOT mean that they should have done it or that you, personally, if it happened to you, would also have to not be offended by it. Different situations have different responses as well. If they had surrounded me and started taking my clothes off that would have warranted a different response on my part.
