I betcha they realized they made the wrong turn and then stupidly corrected themselves, totally forgetting that other cars exist around them. Just as annoying as people doing u turns. People need to accept their damn mistake and go around the block.
cuz what, the people behind them gotta go preform surgery? oh no someone lost a fraction of a second to their destination! OP immediately go stuck at a red light... this subreddit is becoming the idiots in the cars
Slamming on your brakes, veering to the right, and then suddenly veering back into traffic with zero indication can cause a multitude of accidents. It’s not about “losing a fraction of a second” ffs
there's a multitude of reason's someone might suddenly brake infront of you and it almost never gives you the right to swerve and speed up around them. you dunno what's infront of a big ass truck like that or why they made that move, kinda weird no one is worrying about defensive driving in this post and everyones like 'omg OP had to react to a traffic situation'
Didn't you get the memo?
As soon as you see a manly man in his manly truck, you are to immediately remove your vehicle from the road so that they can exercise their God-given manliness in whatever way they wish in their manly machine.
S/ in case it wasn't obvious..
As an actual truck driver, I'd like to point out that's not a truck. It's a car with delusions of utility.
Also, we're just as scared of the clowns driving those things.
The only idiot I see is the one tailgating and not leaving enough space to let the drivers in front of them follow through on their actions. Back off, leave 3-5 seconds between you and the person in front of yourself and you'll find you don't even need people to use turn signals in front of you to understand what they are going to do. You shouldn't be driving if something like this caught you off guard.
They hadn't even gotten half way into the turn and you were along side them. You tried to accelerate past when they started the turn- they realized they erred in 1. It wasnt the right turn or 2. Thinking they could perform the UTurn. They suck and you suck. You tried to blow past them before they completed the turn and kind of go around the bed.
I will because I wasn’t 👍 I thought he was about to slam into me so I swerved into the middle lane because it was empty. Was that a proper reaction? No probably not. But I had people behind me on my ass so I couldn’t slam on my brakes because then it would have been an accident.
Not defending truck drivers but I can tell by the no smoking sticker in the window and New York plates it's a rental car so that person behind the wheel may not even drive trucks on the daily
I’m really struggling to understand why people are making excuses for this particular driver, but I’m open to a conversation about it. The defense seems to be that it’s okay not to be perfect, and I’m okay with that. No one is perfect. But this driver is not displaying a lack of perfection; they had a moment that crossed over the border into outright dangerous, for themselves and for those around them.
I’ve had dangerous moments on the road. I’m sure that you have had them, too. Usually these are inattentive moments, maybe causing a drift into another lane or something like that. WE ARE THE IDIOTS when that happens. I think that’s important to recognize.
In this case, I’m not sure what this driver was doing. Whether it was an illegal u-turn, an aborted right hand turn and turning back into traffic, or an extreme lapse of attention causing a huge drift (unlikely, because that looked like the beginning of an intentional turn or wide swing), the driver was clearly not paying attention to anyone besides themselves and came very close to causing an accident. The dashcam driver’s reactions were the only thing that prevented this. In no uncertain terms, this was a dangerous moment on the road, and the only excusable explanation would be if the driver was having a seizure or some other type of medical emergency. If that’s not the case, then yes, the driver was absolutely an idiot.
This seems more like a case of the driver making a series of bad conscious decisions than a case of a simple mistake or inattentiveness or not “being perfect.”

The truck comes with instructions. It does say RAM
They got the wrong one. Should have been Dodge
So they either Dodge or Ram. Thank you pretty much explains everything now.
This reminds me of an old joke Dodge the mother Ram the daughter
That could be problematic.
I thought it was dodge the father?
Instructions unclear, Ram'd the son.
Dumbass. I'll never understand people who think they have the right of way when making a U-turn like this.
What makes this even better is the fact that he ended up continuing to go straight. After I passed, he never made the damn u turn 😭
I betcha they realized they made the wrong turn and then stupidly corrected themselves, totally forgetting that other cars exist around them. Just as annoying as people doing u turns. People need to accept their damn mistake and go around the block.
A good driver rarely misses their turn, and a bad driver *never* misses their turn.
Damn, as a driving billboard myself, you’re so right

when you gun it and swerve around, yeah that's 'oh no im losing a second' attitude.
No, that's "oh no I'm about to get crashed into" attitude..
ok keep finding any excuse you can for OP's shitty driving.
I don't consider it very shitty considering they're the only reason an accident was avoided here. :)

I think he just made a wrong turn and was aborting. People are insane, it's like the saying bad drivers never miss their exits or whatever
CAN THEY AT LEAST SIGNAL?!
completely indifferent to the existence of others.
Main character syndrome. We're just all NPC's to them programmed to get out of their way.
Frank Ocean keeps you calm
I had to scroll too far to see a comment about the Frank Ocean playing.
Don't stereotype people who drive trucks like this. You'll only be right 85% of the time.
Yeah, it's the majority who give the rest a bad name.
Yes! Think of the other 33%. How would they feel? Merica!!

As my husband always says trucks rule the road lol. I think it's always trucks and vans that act like this
Damn, ruined the best part of the song too! That third chorus is great
pickup truck ✔ fuckin' it up for everyone ✔ remorse and self-awareness ❌
I guess you could say they were lost in the thrill of it all
Ah the old no signal swing wide fakeout.
Oh Fort Myers. Nowadays people will do this, honk at the camera car like it’s their fault and then pull a gun. Stay classy Florida.
I swear Fort Myers has some of the worst drivers in the country.
Didn't you get the memo? As soon as you see a manly man in his manly truck, you are to immediately remove your vehicle from the road so that they can exercise their God-given manliness in whatever way they wish in their manly machine. S/ in case it wasn't obvious..
This is definitely not a “truck” thing. It’s an idiot driver thing and they come in all makes and models.
In my experience though, the worse the driver, the bigger the car
Good ol Fort Myers. Insane drivers & traffic during the winter with all the snowbirds. Even more insane drivers in the summer.
RAM drivers are statistically the worst drivers. As shown in this video exhibit
As an actual truck driver, I'd like to point out that's not a truck. It's a car with delusions of utility. Also, we're just as scared of the clowns driving those things.
The majority of people with trucks barely ever use them for truck-stuff. It's a soccer-mom suv for insecure guys.
that was almost really bad
The type of person who buys a pick up truck without the need for ever using it for loading or offloading is psychologically narcissistic
Is that a texan in WTFlorida? The dumbest drivers around the craziest? It’s almost self explanatory…
I think they were from NY
Downtown fort myers love that place
Yo sick maneuvers and music OP. Holy shit you’re good.

nice song choice!

Uh I've seen every type of vehicle have drivers...drive like this. I've had someone with a left turn signal on...go right.
Come on man, the narrative right now is truck drivers. Wait till later and maybe someone will post about a BMW or old person driving a Buick. 😂
Tiny cars do the same shit.
With a little less firepower behind them.

Honestly this is what I thought too. Sure the pickup is an idiot, but the op is way too close.
Get out my way limbrols!
WHY ARE ALL THESE LIMBROLS IN MUH WAY I JUST GOT OFF A SIXTEEN HOUR SHIMFT GET OUT MUH WAY
Pickup driver: *makes mistake* All of reddit: 🤬🤬🤬🤬
:sydpat:
<3 hi murple
hi sydddddddddd💜
Both drivers suck. Never just try to pass someone because you think they are turning. Stay in your lane.
Buddy I wasn’t trying to pass him
Yeah OP!!! How dare you exist and try to go straight!!!
They hadn't even gotten half way into the turn and you were along side them. You tried to accelerate past when they started the turn- they realized they erred in 1. It wasnt the right turn or 2. Lol. The mental gymnastics you did there is amazing. Holy hell you couldn’t be more wrong.
Im very worried what mental gymnastics means to you
Hmm yes it is all so clear now!!
had to scroll down too far to find this
Keep telling yourself that.
🫵🤡
when you go to parties you put your fingers in the veggie dip don't you

You’re a bad driver
One driver pulled an illegal u-turn and the other illegally changed lanes in an intersection. They both suck.
Not defending truck drivers but I can tell by the no smoking sticker in the window and New York plates it's a rental car so that person behind the wheel may not even drive trucks on the daily
Probably just didn't check their mirrors. People make mistakes...doesn't mean they're idiots.
Yeah, no. If you’re doing an illegal u-turn in an intersection and don’t check your mirrors…you’re an idiot.
but it wasn't a u-turn, op mentioned they continued straight.. s'like everyone in this thread thinks they are a perfect driver.
I don't. I fully accept that sometimes *I* make mistakes. And I also accept that when I do, *I* am an idiot.
