LHB coaches are have replaced almost all old ICF coaches. Hope they improve the tracks b/w major routes so trains like VB can run at 160-170 in next 10 years. Big win.

Key-Singer-4985

I mean if gobermint takes too harsh of a measures, the opposition rallies them as Anti-Poor. Most of them need gulag treatment.

nimbutimbu

Ticket fares are unsustainable especially for Sleeper and General. The average change also makes no sense since the rate of increase is not uniform across classes.

celeb-butcher

That spike in fares was due to liberalisation?

Adventurous_Sky_3788

> The new tracks have helped increase max speed to 130 in all parts of India Not really. The tracks in kerala are yet to be straightened and strengthened for running at that speed. Current max high speed along some stretched is around 110 for like 10 or 20 km but most is of the time it is in the 80s to 90s. I am speaking about super fast services. Ordinary services are regularly held back to allow faster trains especially vande barath.

BravoSierraGolf

Yes I can see that in the map. Kerala and Karnataka tracks havent been upgraded yet

nimbutimbu

No new tracks have been certified for 130. To make a track 130 fit you need to improve the permanent way and the rails . LHB coaches were introduced in 2000 and is by no means some ultra modern technology. They also require EOGs and HOGs to supply power unlike the ICF coaches that generated their own power. Running at 160 is possible only with fencing and that's not happening quickly anywhere. Also average speeds have reduced drastically in the past few years. How does it matter if train can reach a top speed of 180 if average speed is less than 70.

lushain27

you're confusing avg speed with cruisisng speed, avg speed is (total dist/total time), and as the number of railway stations between 2 stations increase the train will have to STOP, to at least slow down while going through a railway station......... the time taken to go from station A to the next station has gone down. I hope you understand now.

nimbutimbu

How does top speed matter if average speed is pathetic ? I'm not confusing it at all. What's the use of driving a Ferrari through Silk board (Bengaluru) ? From a passenger perspective, top speed is irrelevant only average speed is relevant. Do you care if a train cruises at 130 between Chennai Central & Jolarpettai but takes the same 4.5 hours to reach Bengaluru?

lushain27

Train 1: goes from A ->B (100km)(1hr) stays at B for 2 hr B ->C (100km)(1hr) Vavg = 50 km/h Train 2: goes from A -> C (200 km)(4hrs) Vavg = 50km/h i.e Train 2 took 2 hrs to actually reach point B # note these are highly exaggerated examples i made to prove my point So while people going from A to C take the same time, there's a considerable diff. for those going AB or BC, and a regualr trains have multiple stations along the way and the time take for a train to actually accelerate to max speed is considerable. now i hope you understand

BravoSierraGolf

Do people make research before yapping on internet now a days? >Average speed have reduced drastically https://preview.redd.it/tz40hu8ye41d1.jpeg?width=1056&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=882c28c78bb4ad57b15ab394ff669a803e5d1d01 BULLSHIT. >No new tracks have been certified for 130 Do you even travel in rail? nimbutimbu

Please provide the source for this graphic. Also don't you find it ironic that you're talking of great top speeds but showing an increase of 1.2 kmph since 2015 as per your own graphic ? Also what is average speed across all trains ? How is this even relevant ? What is the method to calculate this ?

BravoSierraGolf

Do your own research. Cant spoonfeed you everything. You were yapping about avg speed being “drastically” reduced and shit. Where was your source? Learn the difference between avg speed and top speed. My first graph was routes that can run trains at max 130kmph. Second was of avg speed. I never claimed trains run at 130 in whole route.

aikhuda

Sorry but if you provide an image the least you can do is provide a source for it

nimbutimbu

All these talk of how it'll be reduced. But nothing has reduced. Please go through the timetables of trains over the years to understand. To put it in simple words, show the speed increase in the time table. If X train was taking 5 hours before does it take 3 hours today ? Also when I say no new tracks are certified for 130, I mean newly laid track not improvement of existing track. So a Chennai Vijayawada track has existed for donkey's years and is now certified for 130. The newly laid third line in the same section is not. Top speed is irrelevant. It doesn't matter how fast something can go, it only matters how fast it does . Lmao dude thinks new tracks means 3rd track lmao railway doesnt own entire Indian land that they will make 3rd and 4th tracks are you for real buddy? I literally gave you video of how new tracks are laid you are still talking boogaloo https://www.reddit.com/r/trains/s/izEJjSZ0s0 Old tracks are removed, new tracks are put in place of old tracks then new high density ballasts are laid out. https://youtube.com/shorts/9IQT7k3uRTs?si=GnNv0e0SSeFYr-A4 https://youtube.com/shorts/iA8oQmNxSD0?si=h6eQIvqsKB4uwXif The more you know buddy the more you know. > It doesn’t matter how fast something can go, it matters how fast it does Mental gymnastics olympics gold

RobinOothappam

>So a Chennai Vijayawada track has existed for donkey's years and is now certified for 130. The newly laid third line in the same section is not. The newly laid track is for goods trains. This started and finished in BJP govt. Trains are running too. How does top speed matter for seperate goods track?

RobinOothappam

If you were middle class and travelled in German coaches you would have sat on plain wooden seats and sleepers Congress govt thought Indians did not deserve cushions and made the hard deck chairs. Only recently did the BJP govt remove the hardwood chairs and make cushioned seats mandatory for all classes.

BravoSierraGolf

I missed this. The wooden chairs in CC and General class has gone now. I remember travelling in wooden chair cars in 2016-17

RobinOothappam

![gif](giphy|xUOwGanZbo6QieZ94I) Congress wants you to have a sour bum. Madhu Dandavate of janata party erstwhile BJP introduced cushioned seats in India. Feku made cushioned seats in 100 Percent rakes except EMU.

[Source](https://ircep.gov.in/AboutUs.html) There are two concepts track km and route km. Track km is the length of all tracks in India. These include sidings, crossings etc. Route km is what is relevant for passengers generally since it takes the distance between points. Neither has increased by 31000 kms . Route kms stood at 53600 kms in 1950 and is at 67,956 kms today. Total running kms stood at 98,546 in 1971 and is at 1,26,366 today. He talks of electrification as though it's the panacea for all ills. It isn't and if the projected savings were actual savings the financial position of the railway should be getting better but it's not. The operating ratio i.e. money spent to earn 100 rs has not reduced. [source](https://m.economictimes.com/industry/transportation/railways/railways-spent-rs-98-10-to-earn-rs-100-in-2022-23-ashwini-vaishnaw/articleshow/107368482.cms) Project unigauge started in 1992 to convert India to a uniform gauge viz. broad gauge. However many sections have been closed in the name of gauge conversion. Many sections have after conversion drastically reduced passenger services. Look up Akola Mhow conversion. Mainline conversion in Southern Railway. Multiple branch lines built with no traffic. Finally the kicker, RRTS is not broad gauge but standard gauge and so is the bullet train proposal.

Adventurous_Sky_3788

Also apart from the DFCs nothing done in the past 10 years has improved the average railway user. In fact, it seems to have gotten a bit worse. Addition of Vande Bharaths has adversely affected the services in my state. There is crowding in the most general compartments has increased massively in last 10 years as well.

BravoSierraGolf

please dont just paste random images with data always mention source of the image or data

Adventurous_Sky_3788

> Reduced number of rail accidents. You sure about that. The data stops at 2016 and is part of the original trend. Also i guess you forgot about [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_railway\_accidents\_and\_incidents\_in\_India#2023](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_railway_accidents_and_incidents_in_India#2023) As for the other things mentioned, apart from NE connectivity, are nothing to pat oneself on the back especially considering it is over a decade and with record budget allocations every year. BJPs railway performance has been only marginally better than congress. There hasnt been any radical improvement in services. I do agree there has been some good bureacracy reforms but its effect is more long term and hidden. For a nation of over billion, this is not at all good enough.

BravoSierraGolf

The total number of accidents every year data runs through bar graphs below till 2022. > Record budgets Mostly went into DFCs. I excluded those coz you asked question wrt public improvements. > Radical improvement in services Someone born after 2000s would say this. The avg delay was in multiple hours before now its 15mins acc to official data. There is lot of improvement to be done IR is still shit no doubt but I wouldnt call the improvements marginal. I would say substantial improvements can be seen everywhere. Delays, ease of transportation, public safety , comfort , more routes, more number of trains.

Adventurous_Sky_3788

> The total number of accidents every year data runs through bar graphs below till 2022 My bad, i thought the bar graphs were for the same data. But the data is still only keeping with trend. Nothing too drastic. Especially considering the two very deadly crashes last year along with a number of derailments i would say there werent any significant safety measure taken till 2023. I was born before the 2000s and at least in my state (kerala), safety, cleanliness, even wifi in some stations were present before 2014. The numbers of services has actually gone down in my state and as some who has used railways regularly since 2014 the rush has only worsened. The delays are still usually 45 mins to an hour for normal trains. So yeah for me, the improvement has been only marginal.

BravoSierraGolf

The first wifi in railway station was installed in 2016. Which station had wifi in 2014? You are just lying straight up. I’m not a cave dweller that you will fool me. https://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/mumbai/Mumbai-Central-gets-Googles-high-speed-Wi-Fi-network/article60541588.ece https://www.business-standard.com/article/current-affairs/google-railtel-expand-free-wifi-reach-cover-9-more-stations-116041500438_1.html > Delays are 45 mins Says who? Average delay acc to CAG reports and railway yearbook 2023 is 15mins in India. https://www.livemint.com/news/india/free-wi-fi-now-available-at-6-100-railway-stations-across-india-railtel-11647936059693.html way, the national transporter said. The railways provided Wi-Fi facility first at the Mumbai Railway station in 2016, reaching its 6000th station, at Hazaribagh town of Jharkhand . Wifi in 2014 xD maybe you connected 2G wifi from some co passenger and thought its railway wifi 😂😂😂

Adventurous_Sky_3788

Several stations used to have wifi. Most likely a station specific initiative rather pan indian railways thing. >Says who? Average delay acc to CAG reports and railway yearbook 2023 is 15mins in India. Says me as a regular train user. Also i remember thinking that report was bullshit when it came out.

BravoSierraGolf

Your opinion doesnt mean shit. I’m also a regular train user my trains reach before time. Now what? Its the official data that counts. So unless you have evidence that proves CAG report is wrong dont bother arguing. Maybe you dont understand what average delay means. Yea several stations used to have wifi. Source- trust me vro.

It might be anecdotal, but i have seen accountability never seen before, just by my one complaint the on board catering staff was shaking and apologising, not only that, turning that open shithole in many express trains to vaccum flush system was seriously amazing, platforms have been upgraded, not mention i have seen many new railways stations getting built
