Yes you can, just buy good cf-sd adapter.

AlternativeDot9304

You’ve done one yourself?

denisyan

Dozens. You can DM me if you have questions

AlternativeDot9304

Thank you 💕

StagePuzzleheaded635

Yes they can work. If you really want reliability at any cost, [iFlash is the way to go.](https://iflash.xyz)

AlternativeDot9304

I'm thinking about that too. But I just thought that maybe I could save more if I bought this one. Thank you tho

Pristine_Explorer265

I got one to work yesterday. I used the iflash cf to SD converter 128Gb Samsung EVO blue. You will need some Kapton or electrical tape to hold down the little black zif lever as it pops up easy. Also that part of the card faces the led screen and logic board.

If that one guy doesn’t end up ripping my head off again, i would say they’re mostly problem free. Just put a little pressure of the hdd ribbon cable and don’t use a crappy cf adapter (use an [iFlash](https://www.iflash.xyz/store/sdcf-adapter/) one) But again, if your budget allows, just use [iFlash](https://www.iflash.xyz) products!

multiwirth_

It works, well sometimes. The zif connector on these doesn´t properly work with the iPod flex. It´s too loose and doesn´t get a good continuity. You can get around by this, if you put a thin layer of sticky tape onto the iPod flex cable, so it becomes slightly thicker. Then it will guarantee good connection and work as intended.

MilPop

I have used them often, with success, but always with iFlash CF-SD adapter. I didn't have success with the red CF-SD adapters.

PrincePetr

It is actually cheaper that an iflash solo, if you used an iflash CF-SD adapter? I don't mean this rhetorically.

MilPop

I had some of the green adapters, together with the red CF-SD adapter. They were not working, and I bought an iFlash CF-SD. It was working good, very good indeed, and that's why I bought iFlash CF-SD adapter also for the other few green adapters which I had bought previously. I this this combination is marginally cheaper than iFlash Solo. but there are colleagues, which say, that the green adapters work good with other higher quality CF-SD, which you can find for about 15-20 USD/EUR, which together with the green adapter is already cheaper than the iFlash Solo. But cheapest is not always the best strategy. :)

AlternativeDot9304

What brand of adapter are they using?

MilPop

Digigear CF-SD. [Here](https://yuuiko.github.io/iPodGuide/iPodGuidev2-1.pdf) you can find an excellent resource, if you are interested of modding iPods.

AlternativeDot9304

I’ll check that out. Thank you

HybridAkali

I’ve found a way to make them work 100% of the time using the cheap red adapters as well. Here’s the highlights: - The zif cable should go in just so the second line on it is barely visible, not all the way in - Put a thin piece of paper/plastic in with the zif cable because they are a bit loose otherwise, they’ll work without one but might come unloose with time - Push in the red adapter as much as you physically can, same with the sd card in it - When restoring the ipod, on the last 10% of the restore loader start a rebuild MBR process using aomei or similar I’ve done many 4/5/6th gens this way and they all work flawlessly.

AlternativeDot9304

I got lost on the last part. How is that?

HybridAkali

While the restore is loading in itunes, at the last 10-20% while it’s doing its thing, start the [rebuild MBR](https://www.diskpart.com/help/rebuilt-mbr.amp.html) option in a partition program.

AlternativeDot9304

I will try that one. Thank you

SnooCupcakes9222

I agree with the answer, especially the last part. Will save a lot of nerves. It sounds strange at first glance, but the advice is really useful.

trashcatt_

I couldn't get one of these to work at all with any of my iPods. I ended up buying an iFlash one as well as an iFlash quad for a different iPod.

SeatBeeSate

A lot of extra work and is super unnecessary. Just go with an iflash solo and Samsung SD card.
