If this violates 1 and 3, then giving advice and sharing both your experience and what you've observed about similar experiences is against the rules. And that's not against the rules. If it was, then I'd start questioning how we're expected to improve at all if no criticism is made. Damn, this isn't even criticism, just a piece of advice. Anyway, I feel that it's good advice. I feel that too many people come into Kemeticism expecting those kinds of things and then leave within 5 days because they weren't given something on a golden platter with their names engraved on it. That's probably why the sub has 15k members, yet I come online often to the sight of only me online.

I don't actually think you're going against the rules you mentioned. You are sharing your experience: what you write is certainly helpful for those who are just starting out. Yes; the relationship between faithful-god and faithful-netjeru is, in fact, completely different

AtlasSniperman

Oh boy, yeah there's a weird 1,3 nature to this but I can't say I disagree too much.

barnaclejuice

What does that mean, “1,3 nature”? Maybe it’s because I just woke up, but the reference is going totally over my head

AtlasSniperman

OP is concerned that the post is crossing the line of the subreddit's rules "1, 3, and 7" and I am agreeing that it feels like it's crossing 1 and 3

barnaclejuice

Ohh I see, thanks for the clarification. I feel like my breakfast consisting of coffee and vitamin B12 are still kicking in, lol. Have a great day!

Mostly_Ponies

Is it just me or does *the Kemetics* sound like a baseball team?

MajLeague

Or an awesome band.

KnighteTraveller

Perhaps because Kemetic sounds like  Kinetic?

I can see the concern. Both with people's past religious trauma / baggage affecting their relationship with the netjeru (it definitely happens) and with flirting with crossing a few of the rules. It's a fine line. I don't like to portray any particular religion as being evil, but the Abrahamic religions often get treated that way due to the trauma inflicted on many people by some of their adherents. I wouldn't even say that what those adherents are doing to people is necessarily in violation of those religions' tenets, in most modern cases. And yet, there are members of those faiths who are good people, so it's not a given that members of those religions are going to be evil. We are not an evangelistic religion and we don't have the right to tell anyone that their religion should not exist, though I think it's reasonable to ask them to treat us respectfully and coexist peacefully with us: it is possible and I've seen it happen. It is interesting and helpful to look into the differences between the religions, however! That's totally fine. Especially for those of us who are raised in a society which is heavily (and often invisibly) influenced by Abrahamic religion, we are taught that certain things simply are "the way things are," when in fact they're more of a choice or an opinion. The idea that a god must be omnipotent or omniscient, the idea that there can only be one value for truth, the idea that mortal sins exist, the idea that a righteous person should sacrifice their own wellbeing for others--all of these are just that: ideas. And not ones I subscribe to anymore.

bizoticallyyours83

Great advice and plenty of healthy respectfully made points.

melissaflaggcoa

💯 I have found the Netjeru act more like spirit guides than the typical Abrahamic God. It's quite a change from catholic upbringing as well. 😂

Kemeticism has no Satan. The closest thing is the serpent apep

I'm aware of that. I use Set as an example not only due to his villainization in the mythology but in popular culture as well. If Anubis isn't a bad guy, Set usually is and not a/p/e/p.
