I would say go for it, disregard what other people say and make your own opinion on it, I personally like MMTBS alot

Illustrious_Tear8238

I second this. I like MMTBS a lot!! Give it a go

Professional-Rip-519

Thanks

RiVe8014

I think you'll fuck with Father Time heavily

dwn2earth83

I think you have to be in a place to receive the messages in MM&TBS. It is *very much* a therapy album, almost quite literally, as he features a very renowned therapist on the album by the name of Eckhart Tolle. Whitney is also featured on it and Kendrick is probably being the most transparent and personal than he’s ever been on any project before it. He’s really diving into some heavy subject matter, and if you’re not ready to hear some of those things being discussed, especially by a Black man, the way he chose to do it? You’re not going to like the album. The equivalent is 4:44 by Jay-Z, but much, much deeper. A lot of Hov fans did not like that album. But to me, it’s probably his best one because of how open and honest he was. Hov don’t be telling us his business like that. But he told us all his business on that album lol… he finally grew tf up and really decided to step into fatherhood and husbandry, the way his family deserved. Same with Kendrick and MM&TBS but… not all endings are happy.

Thanks 🙏

dwn2earth83

You’re welcome! I hope you post again and let us know if you decided to check it out and what you think!

Professional-Rip-519

I will. I'm currently enthralled by his work.

joecramerone

You should peep section 80

DorphinPack

Before MMBTS in my opinion Save it for last

Professional-Rip-519

Is that a mixtape.

joecramerone

It's his like unofficial second project.

Ayyylmaooo2

If you want an easy way to listen to everything that's not on streaming including l3aks and pre Section80 projects check out https://kendrickarchive.online

TPAB can be pretty dense in production, but is the type of album that gets better with every lesson. And MMATBS might not be as accessible as Damn, but it's an incredible concept album with some REALLY great individual songs. Definitely give it some listens.

tylenol3

I second this. Maybe revisit TPAB (and Mr Morale) when you’re in the headspace to really absorb them. They both tell amazing stories, too, just not in the same way GKMC and DAMN do. I feel like they are records you need to meet half way. Like more when you’re in the mood to watch a foreign film or a documentary than when you want to watch an action movie or a comedy. Very rewarding when you do, though.

Tall_Pomegranate_434

Damn is my favorite album ever made. Period, point blank.

musicallymee

Mr. Morale wasn’t a favorite because it makes us look within ourselves and people don’t like the truth. There’s lots of healing to be done from the trauma we have experienced. This is an album from a man that has identified his trauma, generational trauma, and wants to end it. When I first listened, it hurt me bad. I resonated with too much he was saying and I wasn’t ready to evolve. I finally revisited it again late last year and this past month. It’s a beautiful raw album. Rich Spirit, United in Grief, and N95 are my favorite. I realized how mad he was after Mr. Morale. He’s a mad scientist.

Mindless_Can3232

Mr. Morale is great and you should definitely listen. If you don’t click with it at first it’ll probably grow on you! Father Time is one of the best songs he’s ever made so make sure you hear that at least

barod2

Don't listen to the bad things about Mr. Morale, it's Kendrick's best project.

HeavyMetalLyrics

Morale might not click at first but once it does you won’t be able to stop

ZarteKv8

I discovered him last year through Mr. Morale (I honestly got so mindblown by the production quality that I stopped making music for a whole month) and I'm taking the same discographic journey, but backwards, since this beef started. I'd say go for it, fully open minded about what you'll hear: a true artist expressing himself with art. It may be experimental and non conventional, it may be innovative, maybe it's too minimalist or too different. You'll decide that. But you shouldn't miss this checkpoint of his evolution

Professional-Rip-519

Thanks

ASZapata

Go *Section.80* and *untitled unmastered.* first. MM&TBS should really come after everything else.

According_Shower7158

GKMC is definitely cinematic. I always use that word when describing that album. TPAB is very experimental and Damn is very religious and commercial. Mr moral is a personal album. Worth a listen and hits you in the feels. He made the album during the pandemic and during his family troubles.

Redaaku

I'm in a similar boat as you but I would say I slept on him till DAMN released(already like 8-9 years late lol)and then I got hooked and had to go back and check out his entire discography after that; back then. What you're doing now, I was doing back then. Enjoy the process. When this beef started back up in the mainstream and push-ups dropped, I already was confident Drake is gonna get bodied. Anyone that listens and actually comprehends KL's body of work will know who is the better rapper. Now back to mister morale. I hadn't listened to it entirely yet(only some popular songs like N95); but not because it is a bad album. From all I've heard and read about it, it gets easier to digest with age and life experiences. I plan to actually listen to it and actually try to understand it now.

Professional-Rip-519

Thanks fam.

FallnPatty

I know its not a popular opinion, but Mr. Morale is his best album.

sub11m1na1

Keep in mind that the DAMN. tracklist is a kind of "palindrome" [https://www.reddit.com/r/KendrickLamar/comments/1cu7wdc/best\_breakdown\_of\_damn\_ive\_seen/](https://www.reddit.com/r/KendrickLamar/comments/1cu7wdc/best_breakdown_of_damn_ive_seen/) (If you won't watch the video, can't blame you, it is 1hr video after all, watch the last part, **THE TWIST**. That's where the jaw hits the floor.)

Professional-Rip-519

Thanks

Objective-Chipmunk58

Mister morale is dope. Though very deep as well and goes into a lot of self reflection

BryanSpanielson

Mr Morale is my favourite album of all time, go for it.

lookingforgasps

MMTBS is amazing, those who give it shit are just upset they didn't get Damn 2.0

PuzzledStretch5818

Gotta hear it. I’m a huge fan of his entire discography. I’m also an old head. My kids turned me on to him when we lived in LA and was still a local phenomenon. But being an old head, I’ve appreciated his later works more. His maturity and growth is more in line with what I like. And I rate his albums from newest to oldest because of that.

JIDglazer42

this might be the first time i heard someone call kendrick KL lol

Professional-Rip-519

I was tired fam.
