I felt so bad for Bill. He just wanted to retire. Adele only tried retirement for 3 days before she decided she was bored and wanted to open another restaurant. Didn’t even try to adjust. And then Bill ended up working his ass off at the restaurant doing maintenance and that ridiculous steak dish. To top it off Adele couldn’t understand why everyone felt so bad for Bill and she mocked him on screen. *Everyone says Poor Bill. That’s his nickname. Poor Bill.* uh yeah bc he’s married to a toxic thunderc*nt!

[deleted]

She's an angry, old woman. She needed a hobby or two to keep her calm and sane in retirement, not throw away your entire retirement funds on a bad restaurant.

released-lobster

I agree, but look at the flip side. At least Bill got to go home, every night, and lay down next to his dear Adele. And then get up in the morning to her and her daughter at the breakfast table. Sounds positively nice 😌

[deleted]

I detect sarcasm....

[deleted]

Roof tile steak LOL

HollisFlaxseeds

Adele being a mega bitch was also a problem.

HighAsAngelTits

Adele: **I HATE BLUE!!** Also Adele: *wears two different blue shirts during episode*

drizzy_c

I saw that too! She is a nightmare.

justdisa

I came here for this comment. Also, the blue *suits* her.

[deleted]

Agreed. She was grouchy. She shouldn't have been the host who is literally the first person a customer sees upon entering a restaurant. Instead of opening a restaurant, they should have picked up a hobby or two so that they aren't bored. In fact, there was a scene in the episode where the customer was happy & complimenting the food and she responded with a negative comment... about *her own* restaurant! Blows my mind..

goldingurl

Ive never seen someone try to sabotage their own restaurant like this! I wanted to reach through the screen and shake her lol

[deleted]

It reminded me of the scene from Black Pearl with David. GR invites him to his own restaurant for dinner and all David does is talk shit about the service, the decor and the food. Someone who purposefully sabotages their *own* business loses all credibility with me.

BazingaGal

I'm watching this episode right now and Adele is an insufferable, crotchety wench! Her poor husband!

farmerted555

Adele actually complained that the salmon tasted like fish. What did she expect it to taste like, bacon?

[deleted]

Salmon when cooked properly should have a fresh and mild flavor. If it tastes too fishy, it's gone bad and should be thrown away.

Next_Researcher_5167

Was I the only one that thought the daughter Cheryl was hot??

Clean_Winner_5589

Yes

hobbit-mann

Yeah Cheryl has booty

Soulstarxx

Dependent_Ad_7043

confusedmoon2002

Super late to this thread, but I need to share my hot take: Kitchen Nightmares really dropped the ball with this particular redesign. Flamango's tropical theme, while tacky, was much warmer and more inviting than the redesign's look. The new interior is just so cold and lifeless. It looks like the cafeteria at a nursing home. They also gave it the blandest, most gentrified name I've ever heard. "The Junction" is so empty, and feels desperate to pander to a younger crowd who will never eat there anyway. At least the name "Flamangos" was memorable, if a bit kitchy. I understand Gordon and the KN production staff need to make significant changes to reverse course for the business, but I think they should have refined the owner's vision of a tropical-themed restaurant rather than throwing it out entirely. It doesn't surprise me that Adele wasn't keen to go along with her changes. As horrible as she was, I can understand feeling distressed after seeing something you worked on being set on fire without warning. I know they need to make things dramatic for the sake of TV, but I have no idea how production expected her to go along with their changes after basically traumatizing her. Again, I'm not trying to defend Adele. She's a nasty woman who didn't deserve success, especially after forcing her saint of a husband out of retirement and pissing away his savings just because she and her daughter were "bored." I just think the KN production staff could have handled this redesign far better.

Sheenrocks

100% onboard with this assessment. The second I saw the redesign the first thought was nursing home. They did her dirty. She didn’t seem to have the most positive attitude starting out, but after the change I can emphasize. They completely canned her dream and then sterilized the design with that sky blue + metal aesthetic looking like the sims budget dinning furniture. No effort given to reimagine her vision with a more back-to-basics, less gimmicky approach.

Clean_Winner_5589

Lmao must be Adele's secret reddit account

PwninOBrian

Totally agree, the redesign was total balls. And turning a raw bar into a…. Milkshake bar?!

tipustiger05

I think the idea was making something approachable since it was near a train station. Something where people could feel like they can pop in and eat, like a diner, vs something that's more like an "experience." Just my two cents.

VaselineHabits

I just watched this and I agree. The white and blues looked out of place with the seemingly natural dark wood bar, wood floors, and grey stone fixtures throughout. Had they maybe picked a different blue and the white to lighten up the place... but they could have kept some brown/wood decor they already had (thought the pineapple lights were cute and could have been updated). Also, I was pissed watching the gator burn. Unnecessary imo. Atleast let her keep it as a souvenir? Maybe her hobby in retirement could be collecting "tropical" things or making them. They had capable staff, the dad was great and I wanted it to work out for his sake. He even told Gordon, "I told you she was a pain in the ass" about Adele 😅

Think_Temperature_75

Are you Adele

[deleted]

I'm late to the thread, but I wanted to weigh in. I live in FL. Nothing about their aesthetic says natural FL. It all screams tourist FL. And people hate tourist FL....even tourists. It tries too hard to be tropical and rain forest-y which is nothing like natural FL if you ask me....

GlitteringRelative41

I get what you mean. I think they were going for the gulf/swamp aesthetic of Florida but it kinda feels more tropical lol My grandparents live in Hudson, there’s a lot of stuff like that there and I wouldn’t call it a tourist destination haha

[deleted]

Gordon shouldn't have burned the alligator

[deleted]

The whole decor needed to be burnt down!

[deleted]

The daughter had a fantastic ass

[deleted]

the idea was total garbage, if they approached me to invest a few grand in the opening I'd decline it all the way

Sudden_Lab9988

Is Adele dead yet? Couldn't stand the old hag on the show. Seems like the most pessimistic person I've ever seen

traitorgiraffe

no, but people who met her in person said she was nice if you look at her Facebook page it's mostly Bible and trump shit though so do with that what you will

livvcaughey

biggest shock of them all is a trump supporter 🤣

Resident_Soup_4038

What's wrong with the Bible stuff tho

amber0221

All I can say is Wow.. how selfish and toxic can she be. Why hasn't any of the staffs walk out before this show?

Strange_Ad3216

That woman is completely delusional and in denial and a control freak!!!!! She needed to go home and stay there!!!

void_jpeg

I just watched it and I think it's staged?

evilpercy

Gordon should have sent them home. Adele can do the books or something away from the restaurant. Gordon should have taken the daughter aside and made her step up and run the buisness.

Agile-Scene6409

I second that

Street_Gazelle7735

It’s season 2 episode 2

slothloverMJ

This episode was from 2010? Then it closed down like a year later. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Wow time flies. Just came on YouTube out of the blue.
