Game is 100% worth buying. My favorite part about ARPGs is you can grind the heck out of them and then take a break until the next cycle and you don't miss anything. Did it with LE, just finished my PoE season and will do the same with D4 in May. But of the three LE has definitely been my favorite. Just the right amount of complexity with builds and itemization that it's not D4 simple but not PoE complicated. Can't wait to see the new content that they'll eventually release.

ToothessGibbon

I entirely agree with everything here.

Nyk05

Have you played Grim Dawn? I would be curious to hear your thoughts on where does GD stands between all of them

thingswheniamking

Having played all 4 I'd say GD is a bit more complex than LE but not by much. It really only is due to the multi classing aspect of GD. Otherwise they're pretty on par for skill tree complexity/synergies. LE I've enjoyed more though as the play style feels more diablo/PoE. GD feels a little more Neverwinter/Bauldersgate meets Diablo. All excellent games though!

Bonklol

I haven't and truthfully don't know that much about it but would be willing to give it a shot.

tomcruisesenior

It may be good to know, on May the 4th, there's [Season 6 starting](https://forums.crateentertainment.com/t/grim-dawn-community-league-season-6-release-date/136194). Maybe a good time to give it a shot.

FranklinFeta

Dude Grim Dawn is my most played game ever. It’s got a very Diablo 2/ Titanquest kinda vibe. Playing a necro in Last Epoch made me want to hop back on Grim Dawn and run a Cabalist. Gonna wait for the DLC that comes out this year first tho.

wikkwikk

Played PoE and Grim Dawn for over thousand hours each. Not played D4 but D3 instead. Currently playing Last Epoch. I would say Grim Dawn is the best out of all 4, especially if you live creating builds. It has the slowest pace, but it is not that slow if you do things right. It has the best balance. You can basically do most content with all skills. Its offensive and defensive systems are very deep. For example, you can spec your celestial (passive) very differently for the same build to fit your own play styles. Piano build is a thing. Let alone its multiple layers of defense amd great monter design. There is a reason why the game has such a high rating in steam. It is not for everyone though. If you are someone that only wants to do the meta builds and become the death, the destroyer of the world, it is not for you. I would say PoE is the further opposite of this game. But of you want to go PoE or D3/4, Last Epoch is better.

SuperSteveBoy

I wanted to like PoE I just.. I'm not sure it clicked. I made it to like yellow maps and had an issue with my build/gear. I felt like I was staring at maxroll/PoB and my inventory way more than I was playing the game. I've since put it down. I may just wait till PoE 2 to really get into the franchise

Bonklol

This was my first season really putting any effort in. I made it through T16s and tried a few T17s but my build struggled so I stopped. I think the thing that always made me hesitant to commit more time is exactly what you described. I had to constantly have my PoB up on my other monitor and I was blindly following a build without understanding why the things I was putting points into were impactful.

Fatality4Gaming

If you don't mind a bit of advice, don't just get a pob but watch a content creator's (video) guide from someone that actually explains how it works (like ziz or palsteron). Spend some time tweaking pob before playing the build to understand where the damage comes from, what gear are the most important, and most importantly, why. Poe is fun just throwing shit at monsters and seeing'em die, but understanding your build and how you should play/build/upgrade your character is really where it's at. Also, try to replicate a pob that you like from the ground up and see if you can do as well. Tweaking it to get closer and closer (and sometimes, farther) to the original you're copying will be a tremendous help. Then you can start building your own, and it's a whole new world.

Mysterious3713

Always has been (since 1.0) It quickly became my favourite game, can't wait for 1.1

The-S1nner

Never played arpg before, but im kinda out of ideas what to do so i just stopped playing. What changes with new cycles?

Mysterious3713

More content basically, 1.1 specifically will add more end game content because besides killing t4 julra and pushing corruption there isn’t much to do

The-S1nner

Alright cool, I will be back for more content then. Thanks for information.

Emotional_Hour1317

Imo the game is already top 5 current ARPGs right now, with potential to be #1. It has a taken very enjoyable goldilocks approach to complexity.

DillyDilly1231

They need to revamp Julra. Her fight was cool one time. Every fight after the first one is so boring. You just swap realm then swap back and blast. Rinse and repeat.

mlew9614

Is there a date for the next cycle I haven’t been keeping up with it but bought it on full release and want to know atleast if there’s a date for the next cycle planned ?

SuperSteveBoy

The dungeons have to GO or be completely overhauled. What was the benefit of t4 julra over monos?

fungusOW

Is there going to be pvp? I love the game but just hit lvl 70 and it feels very repetitive and I’m not even sure why I’m grinding gear at this point

whenwillthealtsstop

ARPGs may not be for you

fungusOW

i mean I love d2, had fun with this one too so your comment makes no sense. I’m just bored at the end of the game I’m literally asking you what should I do and your reply is “don’t play the game” sick community lol

Superb-Stuff8897

But that's the point....arpgs end game is, but design, a repetitive loop. I'd say if you have any fun gear, make alts with different playstyles and get them up until that grind starts being unfun.

fungusOW

I have a ton of alts already, hardcore was fun until monoliths then bored again. I want to be clear this game is amazing I loved it and everyone should try it, I can think that and still be bored at the end. Those two things can both be true.

Superb-Stuff8897

I'm just explaining why the poster said arpgs might not be for you. Bc other than an 11 year old live service game, there's not a single arpg that isn't repetitive in the end game. Repeating content is what you do in arpgs.

fungusOW

I never used the word repetitive, that’s not why I’m bored. It feels like I’m working towards nothing. My character is already insane. What am I getting stronger for now? They might read these posts, so I am voicing that this game could be amazing like best arpg ever made with a few little changes and if they see that well awesome. I never said it’s repetitive. Never said I didn’t like it. To say “maybe arpg’s aren’t for you” is an insane reply to someone you don’t know who PLAYS ARPGS for fucking 20 years. It’s just a rude reply any way you shake it lol. Community is what makes games like this grow / succeed. Don’t be rude to people who are just asking “what can I do now” I don’t look things up and min max guides like 99% of these people so maybe you could have actually helped me find something to do. Instead I was told “maybe don’t play game” troll ass reply

fungusOW

Why are you thinking the repetition is why I’m bored? D2 is extremely repetitive and I have fun with that 20 years later lol

fungusOW

In d2 I would go into lobbies and drop gear for random people or farm for them, pvp, etc it felt like there was more things I could do and more people to interact with. I hope these guys go that route and make gear droppable and stuff Idk I’d say until the endgame this game is 10/10 endgame is like 7/10 and could easily be made better

Superb-Stuff8897

Oh sure, it'll be made better, but to think it won't be repetitive is silly. That's what arpgs are. I too played d2 back in the day and I think you really have some nostalgia goggles on.

fungusOW

And I still play d2 so it’s not rosy red glasses man lol

fungusOW

My hopes is this can like be the new d2, if they did a few things you could get that community over here

whenwillthealtsstop

Alright, that context is helpful, it just didn't sound like that based on your original post. Other than perfecting gear for PvP I don't think D2 had much *more* to do, but yeah, I haven't found the end-game to be as gripping. I'm having fun with PoE and will probably try this again when they add some content and improve the balance

MichuOne

since d2, no arpg has managed to have a pvp scene at all. poe has a mode that nobody plays. people barely interact with fields of strife in d4. so many devs are choosing to not put time into developing pvp modes for their arpgs

DrMarloLake

I agree that the front end (first 70ish levels) don't provide enough of a challenge. Can get very grindy again at levels 90-95 onward when you're min/maxing for marginal gains. For my tastes, you're close to the best part though :) 70-75 through 90-95 is a fun crunchy puzzle. Defenses actually matter once you reach empowered Monoliths. Not only that, in order to go deep (as long as you don't just cheese your way with Ward this cycle) they're the element needing prioritization. So working through the opportunity costs between limited affixes/skill & passive trees/blessings hits my brain in all the right ways to make those first levels having been worth going through. Where is my source of cleanse? Is Crit Avoidance 100%? HP over 2500? What other defenses can I layer in? Whoops - are my resistances still 70%+? Etc - is (for me) the fun part :)

Superb-Stuff8897

Hi. Here's your original, main party, that is being responded to. That's why repetitive is being addressed

AristocraticAutism

good lord, I just NOW realized why the developer of Path of Exile is called Grinding Gear Games. Grinding Gear. It just hit me.

fungusOW

Got it boring forever

Coyphish

If you're into theory crafting your own builds without looking up information, and then pushing corruption and modifying the build as needed, there's tons of content but I guess that can be said for most games nowadays

TheWanderingNarwhal

My void electrify pali is one of these builds, I just took a unique item (Aurelis) and ran with it.

miyji

The nature of arpgs is gear hunting. At some point better gear will be difficult to acquire and takes a lot of time and hunting gear becomes tedious. Even though the difficulty of Last Epoch could scale infinitely, at some point you have achieved more or less everything the game has to offer. Usually people set their own goals, like clearing all dungeons at highest difficulty, besting a certain corruption level making it to level 100 and so on. ARPGs nowadays usually publish new content in seasons (cycles/leagues) and you can create seasonal characters, which means fresh start. Most players will do this, because their old character is so maxed out and starting fresh means you can achieve everything again. And since everyone starts at the same time you can compare yourself to others, there's a lot of activity on twitch, youtube, forums, reddit, etc, it feels alive. A cycle, which its called in Last Epoch, will last about 3-4 months but at least from my experience most players will play about a month before they reached their goals and stop until the next cycle starts. Few players play an ARPG on a daily basis all year, but rather for a peroid of time and then do something else until the next season starts. People who are big fans of the genre will switch to another ARPG and I believe the Last Epoch devs said they want to time their cycles according to the PoE leagues so players can enjoy both league/cycle starts to their fullest.

Mazzi17

Cycles are the same as seasons. PoE seems to be really good at it

JaZepi

It was my time sink for the last bit, but No Rest for the Wicked EA is pulling me….new and shiny vs grinding end-game. lol LE is super fun though, like 550hrs, 2 falconers, 2 marksmen, a shaman and a Squirrelmaster. Still loving it.

OnlineOtaku

🧢

Redditburd

I have enjoyed the game. Played a minion necro to lvl 97, thinking of starting a new character.

Rrudderr

Hey same i played vk till level 98 and stated a new character

walkman312

It depends on what you mean by worth it, and it also depends on what things you value in games and in this genre of game. LE has obvious flaws. Notably-the economy, end game, and grinding are all troublesome. The story is subjective, but even the completed parts read as a mess imo. Lastly, I know others here are going to disagree in a strong way, but the devs are slow. I get it, they’re a small team, but some bugs and skill mis-interactions took/have taken a long time to fix. Their patch cadence is also slow. The game also shines in certain areas. Notably-crafting, skill tree theorizing, and gameplay (depending on what you like, I guess). The crafting system is good in the early and mid game, not as great in the late game due to heavily stacked rng frustration. But there is a lot to like about leveling up and trying new builds and new skills. While loot grinding at the end game can be frustrating, the buildup with loot drops can be rewarding and exciting. In general, for the price, I think it is worth it value wise. If you’re looking for the next objective ARPG king? This isn’t there yet. And I’m not sure it will ever be in that dominant spot. For me, if you have history in this genre, the game feels like Titan Quest compared to Diablo 2. Which is to say, it is a fun game with exciting differences, but it isn’t dethroning the king. The only difference is that in today’s era, there really isn’t a “king” except, maybe, poe. I don’t know that this game does enough to dethrone a free to play game that updates (so far) with more frequency. Unless, that is, you already hate or are burnt on poe. I would say get it if you can afford it, both price and time. It will give you at least 40-60 hours of entertainment if you like this genre.

luchisss

My biggest grip is end-game. Is so fucking boring man, it's the only thing that is stopping me for playing it.

ArcheStanton

Isn't dethroning the king Yet 😆. Give it time

Whydontname

Lol it's not even dethroning d4.

TheWanderingNarwhal

True, it’s hard to dethrone a game that dethrones itself

ButterscotchOk8619

I respectfully disagree. Grim Dawn tops titan quest. PoE is far away from being the king of anything as well

walkman312

Grim Dawn came out 10 years after Titan quest. I’m talking about 2006 when D2 was on top and Titan quest just came out.

MewtwoCollector

Yup best ARPG that has come out in a while and it is definitely just going to keep getting better

Mooshitup

Like my review for it on Steam says, “You’ve spent more on worse. Buy it.”

VerklemptVulcan

For those who bought Anthem, that's a pretty low bar to crawl over... LOL

Mooshitup

Oshi, that’s very true lol.

Denaton_

It will cost the same regardless...

DillyDilly1231

Do you not care about the state of a game when you purchase it? If you buy a buggy mess on release instead of waiting two weeks does that not put a bad taste in your mouth? This is called being a cautious buyer, and in today's gaming environment you should always be a cautious buyer.

cat666

It really depends on you. If you enjoy the ARPG genre then yes it's worth it. I feel like I've had my monies worth already with just 3 classes to lvl 90ish but I enjoy levelling and never really go that deep into end game in ARPGs. If you do like a decent end game then LE doesn't really have it, but it does have a great loot system if that's enough. If you've never played an ARPG then it's a hard call. LE is easy to level and it's systems are straightforward making it ideal for newer players, but if you go Diablo then you've got a lot more support out there.

Ok-Improvement-726

Campaign is terrible. Just a monolith end game grind

sprite700

No matter what i hear from people on how they are getting bored of the game, repetitive end game content, etc, i am having so much fun with new builds, hunting for better equipment, pushing to 1000+ corruption, setting in game goals for myself while awaiting a new season. Its a fun game to just relieve some stress by killing monsters and watching them explode in loot. For 20 dollars i'll say its worth your time!

fungusOW

Is there something for me to do at the end of the game? I keep just making new characters at like 65-75 cause I legit don’t know what else to do

keejwalton

It’s about realizing or creating builds, once it clicks it’s really fun, but might not be everyone’s cup of tea

Hoybom

An arpg is nothing else in the endgame then just bigger number bigger fun. Same as in the comments above where u got your answer. Endgame is a repetetiv cycle of doing the same thing over and over just to see bigger numbers in the end or shorter times. LE is on it first official release patch so the ammount of content is a bit scarce, poe been out for a decade+ but even with its decade of stuff to do ot end up being an endgame of bigger number bigger fun. If that doesn't sound appealing arpgs might be not your thing, and don't bring up d2, it's an old game that is the same thing but u have memory's linked with it that make the game more bearable.

HillsofCypress

>An arpg is nothing else in the endgame then just bigger number bigger fun. For you, making damage number go up is all you're looking for in ARPGs. You're being disingenuous in acting like your way of playing ARPG's is ubiquitous. >LE is on it first official release patch so the ammount of content is a bit scarce, poe been out for a decade+ but even with its decade of stuff to do ot end up being an endgame of bigger number bigger fun. No. In other ARPG's there's a reason to keep pushing bigger numbers like difficult content, bosses, and challenges that provide in-game rewards. All 3 of my home brewed trash builds cruised to level 95 300+ corruption and then I got bored because there's nothing else to overcome or push for except the same content with more HP.

churahm

I know it's being worked on, but I really hope they actually give good end game goals aside from the generic "push higher corruption". The fact is that a lot of people don't really like to set some made up goals for themselves, and would rather have something that the game plans out for them. To me, doing monoliths at 100 corruption or 500 corruption is the exact same thing. Numbers are higher, that's it. Diablo 3 greater rifts were exactly the same thing. Of course, the game is still in early stages so it is understandable that the end game isn't as detailed and packed with activities as a game like PoE, and the core foundation is very solid so I'm hyped for new cycles.

CoyoteBubbly3290

Absolutely worth it. There won’t be a new cycle for 3-4 months if I remember right. The game is fire.

Morgolol

Are stashes seriously going to be reset, ie not moved over to legacy along with current cycle characters with the next cycle?

Visionexe

All current characters and stashes move over to legacy once this cycle ends. Nothing gets deleted. Solo-self-found settings might still apply as is, I'm not sure in that part.

whenwillthealtsstop

No, where did you read that?

Morgolol

That's the thing, I can't find anything definitive for either or.

whenwillthealtsstop

I believe they did (definitively) say that stashes transfer over, but it's been a while and they haven't said exactly how it'll work

0thethethe0

If you care about leaderboards/cycles, maybe wait to avoid burning out. If you just want to have some fun and play a great game, there's no reason not to get it now imo.

Bashemg00d

It was worth buying 4 years ago 😁 Definitely worth it, excellent game.

Cucckcaz13

Yes. The game is amazing. Just play eternal realm until a new cycle.

Parthnaxx

I've been playing the last week and half, and I got a void knight to 85. The amount of customization per class has a lot to offer as well as item crafting. I deff recommend giving it a go.

Over_Distribution353

Got 400+ hours in just the first cycle so i'd say its easily worth. Hyped for cycle 2.

luckytaurus

Arpgs are games that have massive hype around new seasons and then typically last 2 weeks before majority of players move on. You're asking this question at the tail end of a season where hype is arguably the lowest. But since this season 1 will be 100% new to you it's never a bad time to buy the game. You will be able to play as much as you want and in another 1.5 to 2 months season 2 will release and you can come back and enjoy the improvements they release **for free**.

Crissan-

It is a very good game and definitely worth playing. That being said, I was disappointed that the campaign is not finished and I think they made a mistake releasing the game that way. The end game is also an issue because it's good but could use more work. All in all, the game is basically unfinished but it's still a very good game that is worth the cost.

Prabao

Was always worth

bigfootmydog

LE is a good game. It got some negative press on release because of server issues but the game can be entirely enjoyed in offline mode and the servers seem fine now as well.

hezur6

I don't know what difference it makes to buy now or wait for a new cycle, unless you expect the new cycle to come with a discount on Steam?

Responsible-Mine5529

It was worth purchasing the day it was officially released with 1.0 😄

Alternative_Gain_272

It was worth buying 4 years ago, it is still worth buying now.

Odd_Cat9557

Sure it is worth. People saying endgame is boring while i’m playing since 0.6 and i still spend more time playing it than POE necropolis. So it’s very relative, you can still play 100 hours or more before getting bored every 3 months which is worth the investment anyways as it’s not a 70$ game.

low_end_

i sunk 200h hours on release and have 2.7k hours in path of exile. in my personal experience the game is good but its way too buggy , too many skills and interactions are not working as expected so i cannot recommend it. hopefully this will be fixed with time but at the moment the game doesnt feel like a 1.0 release

Rezistik

What skills and interactions don’t work?

low_end_

havent played the game in months but take a look at the bug report forums. [https://forum.lastepoch.com/c/bug-reports/23](https://forum.lastepoch.com/c/bug-reports/23)

Nia-Teppelin

I can tell you that my plans for a Dancing Strikes + Shuriken blender build were gutted by Rhythm not stacking correctly with the two skills, meaning I'm losing out on like 120% global damage

Obvious-Jacket-3770

You do remember POE at launch right....

low_end_

well you cant compare them, poe was free2play and times were different 11years ago. Last epoch was in early access for years and still delivered a full release build full of bugged interactions and i have seen no mentions from devs about fixing it anytime soon. i would have refunded the game but ofc to get to the point where you notice this bugs your playtime is already too high. I know ill be downvoted but it is what it is YEP

Ok-Plane5979

My main issue with the game as well. Soooo many bugs, especially with skills and passives.

Obvious-Jacket-3770

I stopped on your first sentence. You compared them in your first post but tell me I can't. Pick a lane.

low_end_

Im not comparing them, it was just a way for op to know where my opinion comes from.

Obvious-Jacket-3770

You did.

low_end_

ok dude you know what i said better than myself. anywaysss

Panhammer64

not at all

Unoriginal-

It’s $35, if you haven’t been able to splurge on it then I don’t know what to tell you

dinozavrikpudge_

No its not, poe is 100x times better + its free. You can spend this money for stashes there instead

GhostReveries2005

I been playing poe since a bit after release.. need something to play in between seasons… I’d rather play LE than Diablo

NfinitiiDark

I’m sure most people who are left will tell you to buy it. The game has fallen off pretty hard compared to its original numbers. I personally couldn’t get into it. Put like 10 hours into the game and never enjoyed it. I unsubbed from the subreddit but here it is again in my feed lol.

SeanyDay

Obviously? It has been good since 1 week after launch 😂

poopdick666

No, not worth it. I regret buying the game. The fanboys and youtubers hyping it up tricked me. It is a janky, buggy and repetitive game. The low quality can be seen in every aspect and it gets tiring. I don't think the second cycle will solve the problems either, they are deep rooted. This is a biased forum full of diehard fans, look at the player count for objective data.

Critterer

I wonder if you like any aarpgs? Cos this is not my experience with rhe game at all. Player numbers tell a story of a great successful game not sure what you are expecting? First cycle of an aarpg dropping players numbers this late into launch is totally 100% expected...

poopdick666

>First cycle of an aarpg dropping players numbers this late into launch is totally 100% expected... The drop-off is extreme. It is not a natural post launch/seasonal drop-off. I think this cope became a thing with d4 fanboys making excuses for diablo 4's failure. POE does not suffer such an extreme drop off. >Player numbers tell a story of a great successful game not sure what you are expecting? The steep decline from a high peak suggest the game was overhyped.

Critterer

Literally every game ever does this? Is elden ring a flop? Those numbers dropped off a cliff pretty fast. Which aarpg doesn't lose players mid-late season?

poopdick666

Elden ring, a 2 year old single player game has a similar all time peak to 24 hour peak ratio to last epoch, a live service game released a 2 months ago...

Steel-Blade

100% worth it. Game is not expensive anyway.

mctid82

Yesss it's very good

Ourspark34

Yes.

DamnedDoom

Definitely worth it. Just made my third build the other day.

SnooRegrets5959

It’s cheap for what you get! If this were 60 bucks then maybe wait, but for the price there’s no point in waiting

zyonkerz

If you’ve got the money and time yes. It’s a lot of fun to play and still a couple of months left in this cycle. The market has slowed a bit in game but it’s not dead.

Superb-Stuff8897

I liked the game better in beta. The balanced is very fucked right now. I do think it'll keep getting better.

finessenskeebop

What research did you do to make you wait? Definitely worth for sure

SectsHaver

I got about 200 hours of fun out of it, I’d say that’s a better deal than a movie ticket.

Nodnardsemaj

Its worth it. I have over 400 hours and am not bored, yet. Try it for an hour and 50 mins and and if youre having fun, keep it and keep playing. If you dont like it, refundvit within 2 hours of pkay time. No risk

CN8YLW

Yep. No change since release.

I2aphsc

The game heavily favor solo play instead of multiplayer play so anytime is good since you don’t have to do content with other player at the end of cycle where the majority of people have move on to other game

throwaway_ligma1337

Yes it is very worth it. You can easily get a 100 hours of fun out of it

Scarbbluffs

Yes, I have a few hundred hours in at this point including some pre release time. Great arpg that deserves a try.

KingUdyr

It's great. I'm currently waiting for next season but I sunk many hours into the game and can't wait to see what they come up with.

AristocraticAutism

I got bored of it at endgame, but I felt like it was a fun game, and challenging enough at first to where I didn't feel like it was too easy nor too difficult.

itsmehonest

Honestly I've been hooked and have made a bunch of various classes.. also unlike D4, you have a bunch of options for minions and builds

Possible-Alfalfa-893

Pretty fun

GammonsMcNasty

I’ll say it’s kind of a janky mess sometimes but at the core there’s a good gameplay loop and lots of customization options for builds. It’s def not a AAA title and those rough edges can be very apparent at times but it’s enjoyable nonetheless

UmbralElite

Despite low player count, anyone can easily get their money's worth and then some. I'm currently waiting for content but I got an easy 200hrs before endgame started to bore me.

killasuarus

Hell yeah! It’s only $35

CompleteLackOfHustle

It definitely is and has been. I got three characters to max before I stopped playing as much, but talk about value per $ spent. I hope they tighten up multiplayer soon, I’d love to get some of my friends to play as I had a group who played D3 for years who haven’t picked up any recent arpgs.

GameJMunk

Still can’t play online due to a game server error. To me, an online experience is crucial, so i’d say no.

Prudent_Effect6939

Its super fun until you hit a wall in the endgame. Worth playing though imo

deadinthefuture

Buy it! So good

TheRealStringerBell

If you're looking for something to do this weekend or want to support the company/genre then sure. Have I picked it up again after the first week or two after release? nope. It actually has potential but it's still a ways off.

kachzz

Definately worth it. After 200 h active playing now it has turned in a good time waster when I need to wait for something because you can play it in bite sized pieces.

iswirl

Nice filler game but lacking and monotonous at the end. Will be playing between PoE leagues for sure!

dryo

it was worth buying 4 years ago, and now it grew, like a healthy tomato plantation.

Fav0

what do you mean now? you could easily get 300 hours out of it on release

weed_blazepot

It's better now than when it launched, so I don't see any reason to wait if you think $35 if worth it. The only reason I would say "wait" is if you think you only want to spend $27 (or whatever) on it in 8 months for the Winter Steam sale.

DeathIncarnations

Yes. Has been since before release. Very good game.

drlaen

No, it still doesnt have a proper endgame.

corby_ds

Worth it definitely. Just don’t expect it to be the best most fleshed out experience. Its definitely top 5 Arpg by now though.

metalmankam

I played a few hours of it when it officially launched out of early access but I've since put it down and I'm just waiting for it to get better. There are still some annoying bugs. And I don't want to play so far as to finish it just to see the game get better and have to start over to enjoy the polished game. I have too many finished games in my backlog to dedicate time to a work in progress. I stopped playing Starfield for the same reason.

PostPwnedTV

The only thing I would say if you plan to play seasons is 1.1 is probably 4-6 weeks out. They said the cycles will be a normal aRPG season length and we are now 9 weeks in. So it should be closing out soon. Then we’ll all restart and go again. You can also play on the non cycle servers and not worry about cycle resets for 1.1. They already said nothing is locked to cycles for the first few.

WarAmongTheStars

Yes it is 100% worth buying given the price, frankly. Diablo is like 2-3x more and like 10% of the value. That said, it does still have some rough edges this cycle but they should be fixed for next cycle. Mostly abuse of bugs and what not that is hard to correct.

zekparsh

I’d say it’s worth your either now or later. It has great replay ability in just trying new builds and quickly allowing you to actually play those builds from an early point. For the most part they’re all fun regardless of what is ‘meta’. I think it suffers in the tedium of the late game which I don’t see as too much of a negative since it’s early in its life cycle. If that puts you off I’d just wait till they announce more end game progression systems.

pyknictheory

You can get d4 and last epoch right now for the price of a brand new triple A game! Good time to be an aRPG fan.

Zen_Of1kSuns

Yes

_Moon_Presence_

If you want to experience the full story, wait. I got tricked into starting the game (I bought the game a long time ago) when it launched, and then I got blue balled when I reached the story roadblock smh.

meth68

Short answer. Yes, it's definitely worth the money. You'll get your hours and fun out of it. The major downside is once you hit 100 the end game is pretty boring. The upside is it's extremely fun getting to 100 and playing 100 for a little bit and Pinnacle bosses are coming in the future. There's a ton of different builds to test out so once you get bored farming monolith you can just switch to another class or another build. I've thoroughly enjoyed it

nickyyysixx

Path of Exile would like a word with you. Don't worry water is fine. It promises it won't put a strain on your time and personal relationships.

LaydeeTrooper

You know yourself better than anyone else and only you can decide what your time and money is worth. If you are interested in the game and you plan on playing it, then I'd say yes buy it. If you don't think it's something you'll want to put many hours in, then it probably wouldn't be worth it. I don't even have a character to level 100 yet and I've put it a ton of time. I'm currently consumed in Destiny 2 so LE hasn't been played in a week or two but I still wouldn't consider it a waste because I know I'll be back to playing it, I'm actually interested in starting a new character. The whole game is great. No game is perfect, you'll find flaws but overall the price tag isn't that expensive. & If you do play, you will find out the crafting is insane but awesome so you'll want to learn more about that early on in the game. You can press G in game to view their game guide which gives you so much important information and will help you out. Focus on getting some resistances up to help you throughout. Find a build guide and follow that, they also provide great information. Loot filters are your best friend. There are a lot of wonderful content creators that make all kinds of guides for this game. You'll hear about Monoliths and those come in at the end of your campaign. Try to gear up so you can push level 100 monoliths and work on empowered blessings. Overall, have fun!

thrwsvvszz

I thought it was worth it before release

Ok-Drawing6233

Easily one of the best values available in the gaming world.

Yellow_OW

Its a good game, but you could also wait for no rest for the wicked to settle and see if people still like it after a couple weeks. Idk if its any good yet

mikeyeli

Of course, the game is fun now and it's appropriately priced, but you asking about the next cycle makes me wonder what it is you're expecting from the game. Why wait exactly? What difference would waiting make?

wickflair

Always was. This is the first time I've actually really gotten into this type of game. Usually get bored really quickly.

Lolersters

I think it always was worth buying. It had its bugs and ups/downs, but for a $30 game, it's quite good. I have stopped playing, but I've gotten more than my money's worth.

TheRealRosey

JMO, but I would say no. The campaign (if you want to call it that) is awful. Just a really long tutorial that you will blow through with virtually any build with no problem. The end game I also found very tedious. Same echos over and over to farm "unique" and "set" items that for the most part suck and are not going to help your build. Very little challenge at any point in the game and for the most part you are just on cruise control, dying very infrequently. Definitely not a game I would tell anyone to buy. Too many great games out there to settle for such mediocrity.

PhoenixShredds

Alls I can say is it was my bday present to myself in late February, and I've more than gotten my moneys worth. It's got a few holes that need fixing, but it's damn fun.

tylerisdrawing

No it's not. 🙄 What the hell do you mean is it worth buying now? What difference does it make waiting till a new cycle?

_DevQA_

if you have to ask other people what YOUR opinion will be.. just go back to whatever Diablo or Exile path you fell out of. this game isn't for your type.

domogrue

This is a pretty complete launch package in my opinion. Obviously doesn't have the depth and breadth of endgame like an ARPG that's been out for 3+ years, so if you are expecting post-expansion Diablo 3 or Path of Exile levels of content, then obviously you won't be satisfied. However, what is here for an at launch game is pretty impressive. There's a solid enough grind for loot that is worth several hours of low-key gaming, there's an impressive number of classes to alt and an even more solid and impressive number of builds to explore within each one, and the Monolith and Dungeons are robust enough that they provide a solid amount of variety for endgame play to keep you engaged until the next content drop. No one can say how the content cadence is going to shape up but so far there's been a healthy amount of patches, hotfixes, and feedback that points in a good direction. The initial server hiccups have cleared up, and the most egregious bugs are stomped (although there's still some annoying things not working properly you may stumble into) If you are looking for a game with lots of fun builds and a something to chill and grind to for low-key gaming, this is one of the best ARPGs out there right now.

Leebillysteve12345

I got 80 hours out of it. Was fun for awhile, but the end game needs work. They run into the same diablo problem where you run around clearing trash and seeing no worthwhile loot after awhile. I think they really need something like a paragon board, or maybe another 100 levels so you can at least get something for your grind after 80. Also, they need to open up monoliths from level one after the first play through.

lemons2513zz

Realistically it doesn’t matter when u hop on. Whether u played for 2 days or 2 months, new cycle new build. If anything getting the hang of the game now and restarting on new cycle would probably be more beneficial for u

Holiday-Wheel4610

Lagon still sucks

Frankiebones187

100% worth buying.. the game is great and the devs are awesome and actually care deeply for us and there fine game.. recommend it to everyone including your nanny lol

themoonfactory

I would agree with the other comments that's it's totally worth buying now as well, LE is a fantastic game. You can always use this season to familiarize yourself, and prep your next run. There's an emergent volunteer project I would recommend that aims to help with specifically that kind of question: [https://playnoworlater.com/](https://playnoworlater.com/), it just needs more community vote to get started.

Gamenstuffks

If you're not competitive, you'll enjoy it. If you are competitive, then you probably won't enjoy the current balance. It's pretty fucking bad. I've played every ARPG, from Diablo II, Titan's Quest, to PoE and everything in between. I personally don't like how meta builds are literally 20 times better than a regular build. A meta build at lvl 60 with trash items does literally 10x more damage than a maxed out regular build. I played 2-3 builds that carried me to 300 corruption, then I tried a meta build and it felt like I was playing on cheat mode in comparison, breezing past 300 corruption with trash gear and reaching almost 1k corruption with painfully mediocre gear and basically near 0 investment, clearing echos in 20 seconds on average. *That's not okay*. In ARPGs there's always going to be builds that are much better than others, but having builds that make you feel like playing something other than meta is a complete waste of time because that's how absurdly better meta builds are. And I geniunly mean that meta builds are superheroes in comparison to everything else. Some skills go from basically useless and being horribly annoying and time wasting to use (like Sigils) to absolutely broken/instant, so much that literally more than half the playerbase ends up playing the same 4-5 builds while people who don't want to force themselves into meta builds struggle with reach 300C. Not a fan of it. (And don't get me started on Ward) Some skills have 0 synergyes, while others have a metricton of it. It feels like only a few classes were properly thought out and only for a few builds. Some classes feel like they were designed in 1998, too simple with terrible numbers, barely any utility and even boring to play, and others feel like you're playing an MMO character on steroids that dashes through the screen, firing and proccing 20 things at once while clearing the screen hitting 2 keys. Literally 80% of the skills, numbers, synergies, procs and everything in between needs to be balanced. Game has insane potential, but I'm not playing again until there's some semblance of balance

Midgethookah

I would 100% still buy this game. I absolutely refuse to say the same about D4. But, if you want to do the ladder, maybe wait? I never cared about the ladder. I care about richness of character design, replay value, and fun. LE is what I expected D4 to be and more. From gameplay, class/character design, systems, QOL and just, overall things to do. I liked D4 until the end of the campaign. After that, the design flaws really started to shine and I started hating it. That being said, D4 is supposed to be making incredible improvements, but it's still not where I want it to be from character spells and abilities. For me, it is 1D still and I know blizz, I was a supporter of them since back in the Blackthorne days (when they were awesome). Within the last 15 years, they have a huge tendency to sell something as totally awesome to everyone until you get to implementation. Then you find out how it really works and it's garbage. Or, they put their blizzard spin on it, which typically involves giving something good and taking something away. So far, I have not experienced this in LE. My only complaint is that Bastion is a bit overtuned and I don't like the 1 life rule in dungeons, because you burn your key. While there isn't really a shortage of keys, it's just really frustrating because it's kinda like a forced hardcore mode. If I wanted to play HC, I would have made an HC character. I would recommend LE. However, there's a reason why you think you should wait. I don't know what that is, but I just know I will be logging into LE to play for another 300 hours.

Reddd-y

It’s such a fun game. Find a cool build guide you like and start up

carson63000

Well that depends on whether you want to play a game now or not. Bit silly to wait for next season if you want to play a game today.

Atreaia

There's no proper end game loop yet. I'd wait a few seasons before buying.

Wardonis

Yes, get it. No wasd yet, but that will change.

Cool_Park_1333

Game is gud. I bought it a few weeks ago (I’m a d4 fan waiting for season 4). Put about 30 hours into LE so far. Enjoyable.

notreallydeep

You can gamble on the game going on sale for the next cycle, I guess that's all there's to it. Still worth its money at the normal price, but if your situation is tight you can try waiting it out. It won't get more expensive I bet, so what's to lose?

SoBasicallyYea

i put 700 hours on it 2 yrs ago, its much better now, if u like arpgs theres no chance u wont like it

Skare69

Best ARPG I've ever played. Definitely worth buying. It's just so much fun to play.

Suitable-Outcome6752

For the next cycle can I continue with my current character and just do the new content or do I have to start with a new character from the beginning?

Penguin_Bartender

I came over to Last Epoch after burning out on D4 and PoE before that. 100% worth it. I've had a blast making/tweaking characters - skills/passives tree really does hit sweet spot between D4 and PoE and combat feels better (crunch/more impactful) than either.

ProbablypoopingTbell

Yes

BossPegasus

I have played the pirated offline version up until now since release. I just bought it to use the player market. Even though I lost all my items and characters, it was worth buying. Last Epoch is the best online ARPG I played since POE.

Bigshitlikeadino

100% worth, so much so that its success forced blizzard to rework D4

Tiny_Addendum707

Was worth it from day 1. Half the price of Diablo and twice the game

The_Norco_Guy

Gears to randomized imo, wait for a sale

Yakumo01

100% worth it. I paid for D4 and Last Epoch. Got way more enjoyable hours out of LE. The only issue is I play too much

LightDarkCloud

100% worth it, my favorite ARPG right now.

summonsays

I bought it a few days ago, it's totally been worth it for me. I'm still learning all the jns and outs but I love that you can level the same class and have entirely different play styles. Like I did a Necromancer minion army build the first time, was a blast. Decided to level another acolyte as a poison warlock(?) The one with reaper form. Anyway that's been really fun too. Definitely a lot more playing with health as a resource lol, which was what I was looking for.

Away_Accountant_1176

Is it possible to change the move/attack buttons already?

ArgiopeWeb

Yeah its a great game

Scintal

Always has been.

keithstonee

I'd wait till the first actual season. IMO right now there's no real reason to play LE over D4 or PoE. Both those games fill your needs better depending on the type of player you are than LE does. LE is too in the middle. Where D4 is good if you really are just a casual player who just wants to kill shit and turn off your brain. D4 is perfect for that. And PoE is better if you really want depth and want it to actually take time to learn a game. Plus it's free-ish. Just my opinion. Don't kill me cause I prefer D4 or PoE over the current state of LE. It's just doesn't do enough things differently for me to warrant spending time on it right now. Crafting is top notch tho.

InquisitorScorn

Very overhyped game, while it has some interesting ideas like skill three for skills, its just not much more than that. Ugly, strangely smoothed out graphics, boring story, bland gameplay, half-assed game mechanics yadda yadda yadda When they are still much better games on the genre like Grim Dawn, PoE or Inquisitor: Martyr, there is no reason to buy last epoch at all People tend to act like this game is genres messiah just because Diablo 4 was shit, spoiler, its not Last epoch is just a mid overhyped game with insecure community

Superb-Stuff8897

Wild take.

InquisitorScorn

Nothing wild, just my opinion, this game is just not as special as people tend to say But cant say its bad either, I played fair amount of time Just as I said, there are better titles to spend money on

Superb-Stuff8897

It can be your opinion and still be wild. Especially trying to compare to Inquisitor, which is a wild piece of trash with exactly one end game build for all characters. Edit: great potential, horrible everything else.

bewl

I actually agree with everything he said (other than Inquisitor being better)... I don't think this is a wild take at all, and probably more common than you think with other ARPG enthusiasts

Superb-Stuff8897

I mean sales say otherwise. Yeah it's a pretty wild take. I don't see an arpg enthusiast with that kind of opinion. It has plenty of flaws but it has no more flaws than some of the better arpgs, like Grim Dawn.

bewl

I bought the game. I played a couple of characters to endgame. Haven't touched it in quite some time and really don't plan on coming back to be honest. Number of sales isn't indicative of anything regarding whether or not it's a good game in its genre.

Adziboy

It never wasn’t worth it
